Good morning everyone! I woke to see the sun rise again and loved every moment of it! Pictured is me walking up a mountain in the Tzoumerka National Park, located in the Southern Pindus Mountains in my ancestral homeland of Epirus in Greece. You can’t tell but I got a basket full of mushrooms and a heart full of happiness in that pic! When we visit this region we often stop at @refuge_melissourgoi Which is at a base of a this beautiful summit and hosts us for many mushroom themed events, food and music! It’s in a lovely part of the country and whenever we are traveling and tell people we are headed to Tzoumerka, locals stop and say... Oooooooo....Tzoumerka! Here's a tidbit to what happened to us and why we need your contribution to make this possible. Two years ago our landlord to our old facility took his own life, days before our new lease agreement. His estate, not interested in negotiations sold the property to developers, who were not willing to talk about ways to keep us in the building, the building we called home for four years at that point. They kicked us out, gentrification hit that neighborhood and we were homeless for almost two years, searching for partners, investors and others to help build up a community-driven farm business model. Then this summer, we moved into a new location, in downtown Rochester again, to build up food sovereignty, autonomy and sustenance for ourselves and others. But after we moved all of our equipment and payed rent for several months, the likelihood we could juggle mushroom growing, a new build out and hook up our gear was going to be a slow and bewildering process. That's why I'm asking folks to help us. To support community driven farms. To keep us afloat during this time of extreme struggle. It's a lot, I know, but even sharing this will help. Consider joining our effort to make mushrooms accessible to people who wouldn't otherwise know or care about their glorify to feed and nourish. To heal and restore both people and planet.
