Taylor Kelly wasn't a bad person. She was just selfishly driven in her desire to further her achievements.

And if we're being honest, Buck was just as selfish in that relationship because he didn't feel the same way about her as she did him.

The part they fucked up was getting together directly after the sniper arc. Buck wasnt in the right state of mind to pursue a relationship with Taylor and Taylor was too emotional about Buck possibly dying and didnt want to miss out on knowing if it would work.

Taylor was too emotionally invested in Buck who was too emotionally unavailable.

They should have remained friends.

But neither of them were in the wrong. They were just wrong person, wrong time....

....of course, thats just my opinion. I think she'd have made a great friend for Buck to soundboard off of, that wasn't part of his Fire Fam.

I liked Taylor, I hated their romantic relationship. And not because of Buddie, but because I feel it was a disservice to both their characters.

They each deserved to have someone in their corner and they could have had that with each other without making it romantic. Because contrary to popular belief, men and women can be just friends.

Man, there really was nothing like that hiatus between seasons four and five. Fresh off the sniper arc. Will reveal newly, well, revealed. Eddie calling Buck ‘Evan’ for the first and only time ever, with all its connotations. No serious Buddies closing because of the relationships the guys ended season four in. So, so much for fic writers, editors, and artists to play with. A relatively short/normal length hiatus. Content starvation that everyone was already accustomed to because Fox didn’t feed the fan base like ABC tends to.

Not even the hiatus between seasons seven and eight reached the hilarity of the 9-1-1/Buddie fandom post-sniper and will reveal. So many newer fans still catching up after hearing about bi!Buck. BTs and LFJ causing chaos weekly (and sometimes daily), even while Buddies spread the funniest misinformation just to see what people would believe from randos and anons.

That hiatus between seasons four and five probably isn’t where the most fans were gained, but it was definitely the most fun time to play in the writers’ sandbox without being attacked by people who disagree with Buddie. We may not have had the confidence that bi!Buck would eventually give us that Buddie would be going canon for real, but the fandom went nuts with that late season four content. Content creators churned out the foundation for Buddie in fandom from then on. So much fun.

look the sniper arc is exquisite for so many reasons and i could list them all but we'd be here forever so i'm just gonna say that one of the best things about it is how much damage it inflicted. and i don't just mean short-term physical damage to eddie. i mean all of it. i mean eddie's bullet wound and buck's self-destruction, i mean eddie's coma and buck's suicidal tendencies, i mean eddie's will and buck's view of his place in the world, i mean the distance between them maintained by both, i mean buck lingering on the threshold of eddie's life, i mean eddie's panic attacks and buck's concern, i mean the miscommunication and the outright refusal to communicate, i mean eddie's resignation and buck's recklessness, i mean eddie's self-imposed prison and buck's own self-imposed prison, i mean eddie's breakdown and buck's pure stark terror, i mean the turn of eddie's head and the way buck bites his tongue. all of it. everything that's happened after the shooting has somehow been tainted by it.

Sniper arc AU where instead of shooting Eddie and that other firefighter, Ethan waits until the crane call and shoots Buck while he’s up there, while no one knows there’s a sniper around and Buck doesn’t have any Kevlar. Since him and Eddie are always partners on scenes, this time it’s Eddie dragging Buck to safety
