Running after a blizzard in the snow is more frustrating than I thought lol! Very slow and had to be very careful. Used my snow tracks on my running shoes. It was good to get some fresh air!

February 11 run - 7.4 miles. This was a tough one. We got about a foot of snow on Thursday and another couple last night. Footing sucked and the pace was slow. No idea how accurate my garmin is with these things, but it looks like my stride length was a lot shorter. I guess that's not surprising given the snow. Glad that I had a group to run with, which made it a little more tolerable.
To the anon about the snow, I live in Wisconsin fyi, Yaktrax is a really great brand that helps with running in the snow. They make this thing that goes around your shoe and on the bottom they have spikes to help with traction. So trail running/running on unpacked sidewalks is possible again!
anon!!!! thank you love :)
I’ve heard it said that there is no such thing as bad weather, just poor clothing choices. If that’s the case, I’ve got nobody but myself to blame for how hard the run this morning felt. I mentioned the other day that I was a bit on the fence about how I felt about my Hoka Claytons. For sure these are terrible shoes in the snow. Especially by the end, I was slipping with every stride. It was impossible to get a good grip on the ground. I think that I’ll keep running in the Hokas, but limit using them for when I’ve got dry conditions.
Anyone else have a similar experience with Hokas? (I’m looking at you @ironmq since we’ve talked about Hokas in the past - Although I’m guessing snow isn’t typically an issue where you’re at ...)
Due to the lower temperature, it is slower for us to warm up . Running in the winter is a bigger challenge than during the rest of the year.
