Aloof Dark-Haired Girl | Meaningful Name | Anger Born of Worry | The Medic | Can’t Hold Her Liquor | Break the Cutie | The Confidant | All Loving Heroine
A late entry to @snowfrost-appreciation week for Day 1: Character Traits and Qualities, though I went for something a little different in expressing them via tropes instead.
Ships aside, their friendship is probably one of my favorite parts of the show. I never get tired of watching these three dorks together. Whether they’re brainstorming, science-ing, nerding out, superhero-ing together, supporting each other, bickering like school children . . . I love it all. I really hope we get more of this bff trio next season. Caitlin and Cisco just fit together, and Barry and Caitlin have the ‘losing people’ kinship from the start, and all three together in a scene are gold. Plus Flash and Frost make an awesome team together out in the field (it’s too bad they can’t have Vibe out there with them but that’s a post for another day).
Honorable mentions:
Frost & Ralph friendship. It’s really sad that we could be losing this (as it was) now, however they decide to move forward with the storyline. Even if Ralph is played by someone else, it won’t be the same.
Equally adorable/tense interactions between Caitlin/Harry and Frost/Nash. Even if I wasn’t the complicated mutli-shipper that I am, the scenes the two duos shared are still some of my favs.
Potential big sis/little sis, mentor/mentee moments between Frost and Allegra. It was hinted at so briefly in season 6, I’d really like to see more in season 7. (side note, I do love the Team Citizen storyline, but I’d like to see Allegra develop her powers more and I think Frost would be a good mentor for that)
Professor Stein and Caitlin - they had some sweet nostalgic moments remembering Ronnie together, wish we could have had some more of that
There was a little of Frost and Cecile in 6.06, and the real life friendship between the two Dani’s really shows through. It would be nice to see some more of that, plus more of Caitlin and Cecile. I so thought they should've had Cecile clear Frost with CCPD from attacking them in season 3, or at least talk about it. (I considered doing a scene where Caitlin/Frost formally apologize to Cecile for kidnapping her in season 3 for a ‘conversation you’d wish to see’ cuz Caitlin apologized to Joe but it didn’t feel like enough to me but decided to do the Frost/Caitlin art/credit card conversation below instead.)
A conversation you wish we’d seen on the show:
Another of my favorite interactions - the development/journey between Caitlin and Frost. Not sure where they’re going to go with it next season, whether they decide to split the two or merge them or something else, but whatever they do it should be interesting.

Summary:
Black frost isn't technically frost at all. When the humidity is too low for a true frost to form but the temperature itself falls low enough that plant tissues freeze, plants will blacken due to cell disruption and die as a result. There is another term used for this type of frost, however. Killing frost.
Of course, if anyone bothered to ask, she'd say her name wasn't that deep.
@snowfrost-appreciation here’s a take on villain Killer Frost with an AU look at the Earth-2 version.
Day 1: Character Traits/Qualities &/or Write about the relationship between Caitlin and Killer Frost
Day 3: Scientist/Doctor Caitlin Snow & Write about Caitlin’s goals, ambitions, and her setbacks.
I went a little different route, going instead with a fanvid that goes into the lines Caitlin/Frost had to cross throughout seasons 3 - 6, and how protective they became of each other along the way. Plus it took me a little longer to finish it than I thought it would, so I decided to combine it with day 3. Frost was one of Caitlin’s biggest setback for quite a while, until they learned to live with each other instead of fighting for control.
Timeline of Team Flash’s frequent movie night/sleepovers, Snowbarrisco bff feels, Team Flash bonding throughout the seasons.
P.S. It ended up being way longer than I intended, so I added a cut so it wouldn’t be so long for scrolling. For now it’s only through season 3 cuz of crazy life/work stuff, but I definitely intend to keep going through season 6. Feel free to add on/comment with some of your thoughts too!
Note: this was written out for SnowFrost week, so the majority of it is focused on/talks about Caitlin and Frost and their relationships with the others as.
Preseason 1
Technically it starts with Cisco and Caitlin - and Ronnie. Cisco started talking about movies at work at lunch, and he and Ronnie found out they both loved Star Wars. Together they watched all the Star Wars, and then decided to keep doing movie nights with other movies or tv shows. Some nights they play board games or card games while they watch, other nights they're solely focused on the movies. It helped Caitlin open up a bit, and she adored the way Ronnie and Cisco would geek out about things.
Right after the explosion, Caitlin hid away. The only time she left the house was once for Ronnie’s funeral, and then once a week to visit Dr. Wells in the hospital. (but even from home, she was in constant contact with his doctors to make sure he was okay and they were giving him the best care). Cisco stayed with her for weeks, and it was like a constant movie night. They watched all of Ronnie’s favorite movies, even the ones they always hated. They laughed and cried together, consumed barrels of junk food, alcohol, and takeout.
Then one day Caitlin decides she can’t hide anymore, and it’s time to go back to work. Cisco supports her 100%. It was around that time that Dr. Wells got out of the hospital, and the 3 of them went into Star Labs for the first time together. The movie nights continued, alternating between Cisco’s and Caitlin’s places. They invited Dr. Wells once, but he respectfully declined.
When Dr. Wells brought Barry to Star Labs, movie nights weren’t as frequent as Caitlin became determined to give Barry the best care, figure out why he wasn’t waking up.
Season 1
Barry wakes up, and he clicks instantly with Cisco and Caitlin. Impulsively, Cisco invites him to movie night right after they stop Clyde Mardon. Caitlin’s a little hesitant at first, still having a hard time letting anyone in, but soon enough she and Cisco and Barry are all laughing at some silly science joke and it almost, just almost feels like old times like it was with Ronnie, her, and Cisco and she finds it easier to open up to the speedster.
Movie nights become a way for Team Flash to deal with the horrible things they face, and a distraction from the impending danger they always face.
Iris starts joining them too, though they refrain from any Flash talk. (Once or twice Eddie joined them too.) After she finds out Barry’s secret, the movie nights are just that much more fun.
The short time he's back, Ronnie gets to see a Team Flash movie night. Caitlin finds a peace having him there with them, sharing the family she's found when she thought she'd lost him. They're cuddled up on the couch together, watching Star Wars with the others, when Ronnie tells her he's happy she has them. That even buried down within Stein, he worried about her. And no matter what happens to him, he'll know the others will always have her back.
Season 2
The months after the singularity, Iris and Cisco try to get Barry and Caitlin to join them for movie night, but both are hiding away. It’s those months that Iris and Cisco get a lot closer as friends, and Cisco helps her come to terms with losing Eddie. When Team Flash is reunited again, it’s a bittersweet movie night they dedicate to both Eddie and Ronnie.
Soon enough they’re inviting Wally and Patty and later on Jesse to movie night too, and it becomes a therapeutic escape for all of them, the “younger” of the team. Joe and Harry joke that the kids gotta have some fun, and leave them to it.
Caitlin’s relieved later she never invited “Jay”, never let him in to see that side of her and her friends. The team is there for each other when times are at their worst, supporting each other and using movies/food/alcohol as comfort. The day that Zoom paralyzes Barry, they have movie night at Star Labs so he won’t be alone. Also when “Jay” is killed by Zoom, when Iris’s & Wally’s mom dies, and then again after Caitlin’s kidnapped.
Season 3
The movie nights is one of the things Barry finds changed with Flashpoint, one of the only things he tells them is different. He just can’t keep it to himself, and he hates that they’re all not as close as they once were. Post-Flashpoint, they still did them, but they weren’t as frequent as they were in the old timeline, nor as special. Barry tells them stories of some of his favorites, though it does little to comfort them. Once Dante died, they pretty much stopped entirely. Caitlin was the only one to constantly be at Cisco’s side, supporting him just like he had for her when she lost Ronnie. The others didn’t want to intrude.
After Flashpoint, Barry tries to revive the tradition with little success. Everyone’s dealing with stuff alone, and Barry hates it. He misses his family, but he doesn’t know how to fix it. And then they find out about Caitlin’s powers, that she’s been hiding them, and Barry calls for a movie night that night. Caitlin doesn’t show up, and Cisco rallies them to bring movie night to her. Caitlin confesses she didn’t think any of them would want her there anymore. They all pile in for a bear hug, and spend the rest of the night watching Caitlin’s favorite science documentaries. HR even joins them, much to their chagrin (though they all just couldn’t admit they liked hanging out with him.)
When Cisco finds out it was because of Barry and Flashpoint that Dante died, the movie nights stop again for a long time. Caitlin withdrew from pretty much everybody, even Cisco. When she regains control after attacking all of them the first time, she’s even more terrified of hurting everyone.
Barry, Iris, and Wally tried to do movie nights without Cisco and Caitlin, but it was never the same.
The team has one more movie night, right after Barry gets Wally out of the speedforce, before Caitlin becomes Killer Frost. After….the team is too broken. None of them can stand to even watch any movies while Caitlin’s out there working with Savitar, Iris’s life is still on the line, and the future looks darker and darker.
Frost thinks about those movie nights in the weeks she works with Savitar, in the brief moments she allows herself to. She wonders if they’re still having them, if they miss her. Most of the time she just gets mad at herself for thinking about it, for still caring.
When Frost helps the team get Barry’s memory back, someone brings up movie night and it nearly trips her up. She recovers quickly, no one notices. She lashes out instead, tells them she never loved any of them and leaves.
HR dies in place of Iris, Frost saves Cisco from Savitar, and Iris shoots Savitar. They offer Frost the cure but she doesn’t take it. That night before HR’s funeral, the team gathered at the WestAllen house - mostly just cuz none of them wanted to be alone. Tracy, Joe, Harry, Julian, and Cecile even joined them. They didn’t really watch movies, just sat in silence until someone tells a story about HR. Then they spend the rest of the night telling stories about HR and Caitlin and Ronnie and Eddie, and others they’ve lost..
Caitlin leaves after the funeral to find herself, Barry goes into the speedforce. This time those left of the team make it a priority to do movie night every week, as well as talk about the people that they miss.
Different Earths/Timelines/Realties & Versions of Caitlin you’d like to see
A few hours late, but the last post for SnowFrost Week. This list could go on, but these are just a few different different versions of Caitlin I’ve thought about, mostly from either fics I’ve read or written or both.
Angels/demons/other supernatural beings
Much like the Caitlin in my Snowells fanfic For Your Love, All You Are it'd be cool to see her as some sort of supernatural being (other than as we've seen her as Frost & Earth 2 Killer Frost). Whether it be an angel, demon, vampire, werewolf, witch.....anything would be fun.
Mama Caitlin/ Mama Frost
(Image from @dpanabaker on twitter)
Caitlin's already super maternal the way it is, it'd be a shame if she wasn't a mom someday. Seeing Frost as a mom would be interesting too.
Colonel Snow
We saw the tiniest glimpse of Soldier Frost in the Elseworlds crossovers, but I’ve had this story in my head of a Colonel Snow from Earth X who works with Leo, Ray, General Schott, and the other Freedom Fighters fighting the Reich. It’s something I’m working on as part of a larger Snowbarry fic, but I’ve been thinking about posting it separately from the Snowbarry fic as well as it’s own Caitlin-focused standalone story.
Victorian Caitlin
Like the Caitlin in my Penny Dreadful AU Snowells fic, it’d be neat to see Caitlin Snow trying to maneuver her way around the suppressed, patriarchal world of earlier centuries. She’d still be a doctor, and just as headstrong and stubborn and caring, just with a few more obstacles than modern Caitlin does.
