Smashed Gladys - Cast of Nasties
So I’ve been busy.
“Social Intercourse” by Greg Howard: Relatable to Any Outcast in the Bible Belt
Rating: 4/5 Stars Recommended for fans of: Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda, Geography Club, and Verbotene Liebe Summary: When Beck and Jax find out that their parents are dating - they’re determined to stop it. For one, Beck’s dad has been hurt enough and two, Jax’s mom is a lesbian. But as they set out to do a reverse parent-trap, can the two overcome their differences and become friends (or more)?
Review: This story does what most would be too scared to - demonstrate the life of outcasts in a small bible-belt town. Anyone who has felt outcasted by extreme Christians can find joy in this tale of rising above hate and the sass that an openly gay kid can throw out in spite of it all. I find myself opening this book again and again for my favorite scenes - hoping to imprint them in my brain before I return this book back to whence it came.
So I just finished a great book called Social Intercourse by Greg Howard, and it has become one of my favorite LGBTQ novels I’ve read so far, right up there with Two Boys Kissing (another amazing read). And after reading it all I can see in my head is a Stucky AU centered around its plot of two high school seniors in a small South Carolina town who are thrown together when Jax’s (blonde, blue-eyed, Adonis looking football quarterback who is slowly coming to terms with his bisexuality) mom and Beckett’s (the dark haired, super cute, out and proud theatre kid) dad start dating. Add in the fact that Jax’s mom had been a lesbian up until that point and Beck’s dad was healing from having his wife walk out on him two years prior, it’s frankly a giant gay clusterfuck of epic proportions. And I wanna see my Marvel babes in that clusterfuck! (Yes pun intended.) I totally recommend this book to all those looking for a good laugh and maybe a cry, and a heartwarming story of finding love in unexpected places. And if anyone wants to satisfy my craving for this AU, then even better :)

Book of the Gay
“Social Intercourse” by Greg Howard
If anyone has read the book 'social intercourse' can you tell me if it's going to get better? Because right now I want to burn it. It fucking sucks. 'Beckett' is such a stereotypical 'im gay and I watch drag so clearly I'm an expert on how you should look' and also racist?? Like, I'm on chapter five now and he's said gaydar like 6 times and also 'gaysian' what the fuck? Who the fuck green lit this book?
for the first time in months, i finally have new additions to my queer book collection!! i’ve already read The Art Of Being Normal (loved it!!), but i’m going to try to finish a series i’ve started before getting to Social Intercourse
