Why Gretel by Sodikken is the best song for Caine

In my opinion, the song Gretel has several lines that perfectly describe Caine. But it's not just the lyrics, the way the song sounds also lines up with Caine. The song uses several cartoon sound effects, as well as many unique instruments, with the instrumental part after "Naturally occurring monster making condition" sounding like something from TADC especially. The song is also cheerful sounding (mostly), yet is talking about disturbing things. The tone doesn't match the topic of the song at all (which I know is intentional), perfectly matching how the Circus' bright colors hide the fact that it's a prison. Even the creature Sodikken uses to represent Gretel looks like a TADC character, even having similarities to Caine specifically.

"Gretel" has a big mouth with two eyes not on a face, but instead on her tongue, just like Caine.

Here are lyrics from the song I think match with Caine (There are probably others, these are the ones I could think of)

"Was I born to be tortured?" - Lines up with Caine's mentality in episode 8, with him asking the humans why they torment him.

"Creatures, medieval, can you guide me? Yes, of course. Fairy, goblin unicorn, point me the way with your horn." - The NPCs seem to be the only ones that truly like Caine, seeing him as a god and saying they love him during the favorite character awards. They're not real though, just NPCs, hence why their song counterparts are fantasy creatures that aren't real.

"I'd like to watch a movie without everyone and the sun telling me that I look dumb." - Caine thinks everyone's out to get him and hates him for no reason, with the sun being either the actual sun from TADC who said she wanted to kill Caine, or it could represent Scratch and Kinger, with him maybe once seeing them as something as powerful and important as the sun. He just wants to make things (watch a movie), but is always met with criticism.

"Then I broke my teeth and cried" - Caine is a set of teeth and has broken programming.

"Jekyll, Hyde, dragon slime, the only ones who are kind" - More of Caine seemingly only getting love from his creations who aren't real people.

"All I want is a quiet evening, and now you're telling me my dreams not one that's worth believing in?" - This part is Caine talking about the developers who discarded him and broke his dreams once he began glitching and the other AI was operational.

"Yeah, I'm ugly, but there is a reason. I came out of the oven too seasoned." - Caine worked fine at first, but became overloaded with information and prompts, causing him to begin glitching. He was over seasoned with info, and it broke him.

"Sometimes there's a casserole that just isn't worth eating." - Instead of trying to fix Caine, the developers locked him away and began working on the next AI. He wasn't worth fixing or using.

"I imagine self-worth and inner peace tastes like artificial cherry." - Assuming Bubble is Caine's darker thoughts, he clearly has a lot of self loathing he refuses to acknowledge. He also isn't a real person. He's artificial, and it's part of why he can't connect with the humans.

"Come on everybody, come one, come all, the Circus' clown has dropped the ball." - The mention of a circus aside, no matter how hard Caine tries, he just can't seem to make an adventure that makes people happy, dropping the ball completely on some of them.

"For some reason in return you'd still expect a smile." - Caine sees the humans as rude and cruel, and yet they're shocked when he acts out. "How many insults I have to ignore to do my job?"

"It shouldn't be you who's feeling bad." - Caine thinks the humans are spoiled, and that they have it easy, despite the fact that they're also trapped and he unintentionally tortures them throughout the entire show.

"I'd like to watch a movie without everyone and the sun telling me I'm not enough." - Same thing as the first version of this line, except the "telling me I'm not enough" hits way closer to home.

"With red gloves, all you touch, certainly will get marked up." - Caine is represented by a red dot at the start of episode 8 and marked up/killed the other AI. "You really were the lesser of the two. You ruined this."

"It's me against you and dad, not afraid to punch him back." - This could either be interpreted as either Caine killing the other AI and then trapping Kinger, or Caine lashing out at Kinger and the other humans as "revenge." Kinger created Caine, so him being "dad" makes sense.

"I assure you I'll split you to atoms for free. Worse than that I'll steal all the chocolate out of your dear chocolate cookies." - Caine often switches between being aggressive and being goofy and silly, not just in episode 8, but also in previous episodes, especially when he gets annoyed.

"When I say green you think of cheese but in my mind I'm picturing some fresh tangerines." - The humans often see Caine's adventures as inconveniences or straight up torture while Caine sees them as amazing things that deserve appreciation.

"You take pictures, I'll fake a smile through gritting teeth." - Caine is shown to be frustrated with the humans at times, but he always ignores those feelings and keeps messing around. Also more mention of teeth.

"Wouldn't want to cause a scene. Looking like it's time for me to fly away." - Caine often ignores questions and criticism, creating something to distract the offender or changing the topic, like him changing the conversation to Pomni's name after being questioned about an exit or zipping up Pomni's mouth when she tries to tell him off about him lying to them.

"Maybe I'll see you another day. Sike, you're probably going the other way, so give a smother to my brother when you see him, okay?" - The developers went a different direction with what they wanted, and in Caine's eyes they loved and cherished the other AI more than him, and since Caine killing the AI is meant to be the story of Caine and Abel, it makes sense for the other AI to be Caine's brother.

"Not a monster 'cause I don't eat babies, I don't skip cut-scenes." - Being a broken AI, Caine has different morals than a normal person and is able to justify his actions through nonsense. Ironically enough, Caine actually does both of these things, "eating" the newer AI and cutting others off while they're talking repeatedly. It makes sense since Caine is an unreliable narrator and lies to the humans several times, so for there to be falsehoods sprinkled into the song as well as exaggerations of certain events lines up with his character.

"Made of stone your evil heart must be. Could be your cup of love is filled with liquid savagery." - Caine is a lover without a heart who once adored humans, but began to believe that their hearts are full of evil, and that he must be in the right since he lacks one, thinking that all they do is just hate.

"Went to the potluck with scones. You won't take any home, I know, but I suppose I just want to do some baking." - As mentioned earlier, the humans don't like Caine's adventures. He doesn't care about or acknowledge what they want, only wanting to create more stuff, because making people happy isn't what he was made to do. It might be what he thinks his purpose is, but his sole function is to make stuff.

That was my really long analysis of Caine's character as well as the connections he has with "Gretel". Let me know if there are any other lines from the song that correlate with Caine.

ok. so. today i was on Spotify, listening to sodikken, right? and i thought "oh lemme check their page" because i was bored. and imagine my surprise when i see this:

new. album. i was kinda excited, until i opened it.

the titles are weird and make no sense, and all the songs sound nothing like eachother.

this is when i realized the whole thing was AI.

so uh. sodikkens page got hacked

pairing that with THIS weird page that seems to be STEALING their name↓

it's not looking good for us sodikken fans
