For all centuries of her existence, Makima was far from perfection.

She's not the strongest devil. She's still at beck and call of Japan's government. Even in a rare moment where her carefully crafted façade slipped by just a fraction to reveal a lonely, love-starved woman behind it all... that disgusted her too.

Makima had many pets. Human, to be exact, though none of their rights or feelings mattered the second she wrapped a collar around their necks and put them on a leash. Promises of sweet rewards were never fulfilled; none of them ever made it out alive at the end anyway. The redhead grew bored of her man playthings as time passed, so she spiced things up for her enjoyment by adding a girl to the mix.

A girl who happened to be you.

And for centuries of her existence, never once had Makima thought you would have this much effect on her. The way you walked, the way you talked, the way you carried yourself. All laced with incredible warmth and gentleness—feelings that she thought a monster like her wasn’t privy to. Yet, at this moment, lying underneath the soft blanket with you curled up on her chest as a storm rages outside the window, some part of Makima grappled with this strange fuzzy feeling inside her long-dead heart.

The almighty Control Devil couldn't be soft; her so-called benevolence towards humanity didn't extend that direction. Makima played her part well for many years, being the compliant subordinate whom the higher-ups called for and the unfeeling leader whose presence most devil hunters deliberately avoided. Then why? You stirred in your sleep and the redhead's train of thoughts came to an abrupt halt.

Outside, lightning flashes, thunder crashing loud enough to shake the windows. Your place was small and cozy, but ultimately not a very ideal home for the upcoming stormy September. Makima made a mental note to contact the movers soon—you'd be better off at her villa, with her by your side.

Possessiveness was a part of the woman's nature, a selfish desire to obtain what was rightfully hers. She knew this well during her intense search for Chainsaw Man. Lies, manipulation, and violence became somewhat of a routine she wouldn't shake off.

She couldn't.

But she wanted to, for you.

Makima looked at you. Like really, really looked at you and took in everything. In the near pitch blackness of your bedroom with the faint, flicking lamp on the nightstand as the only source of light, you were all she saw. You and your messy bedhead, with little locks of hair that spread out over the pillow like a halo. You and that little bit of drool that was pooling at the corner of your mouth. Your breath, so shallow it was also non-existent with the storm raging in the background. Vulnerability never looked so good on anyone as it did you.

You were warm, you were perfect. She wanted to kill you sometimes.

You were lying two centimeters away from the redhead at most, so what's stopping her from reaching over and wrapping her hands around your neck? Human was a fragile kind with an even more fragile lifespan. No matter how much they tried to squeal with grand, over-the-top gestures, it wouldn't change the fact that they were just... that. A forgettable and insignificant existence in the scheme of things. 

Her hands shifted underneath the blanket from where they were resting over the curve of your waist.

You were really warm.

And suddenly, she didn't want to move a single muscle anymore.

She said that yesterday too. And the day before that, and before that, and way before she could be bothered to recall. You were a threat to her authority from the day Makima let you stay in her bed and embrace her a second longer. Maybe she only had herself to blame for letting her guard down and allowing things to go this far. It’s not just a bad movie that the Control Devil could simply turn off and walk away from. No, you were now a constant presence in her life. A presence she didn’t want to get rid of. Why, she asked herself again.

Maybe it’s because you’re cute, and definitely too naive for your own good. Makima was amused at the number of times she walked home, covered in blood and you would still run up to the door to kiss her cheek and tell her dinner was ready. There’s a warm bath too, and that tiramisu she liked so much for dessert. You added a small twist of cinnamon to her recipe; she didn’t dislike it. 

A silly girl, but a good girl nonetheless.

Makima’s arms tightened themselves around your waist at the thought. Not quite pushing you closer, just… securing her hold on you. This blanket wasn’t thick enough, and the cold might make you squirm away from her touch. Or just her in general.

After all, these hands weren’t built to be gentle. 

They choked, they killed, they settled fates, and destroyed lives in a flash. She could wash the gore off in a public bathroom later, paying no attention to the lingering stench of alcohol and cigarettes in the surroundings. Makima’s thoughts would trail back to your smiling face as she dried her hands off and readjusted her trenchcoat. She wondered if you knew about her job, her identity, and the things she had done for a better world. It was always those same adoring eyes that greeted her once she got back like she hung the moon and stars. She would catch Chainsaw Man eventually. One fight, then a lifetime of utopian. 

It would be a picture-perfect future that the woman knew you fit in just fine. 

An eternity to come with you beside her. Maybe even under, on top, in the bedroom, the kitchen, and the couch. You would moan her sweet name so sweetly as she pounded away at your sweet little cunt. Oh, she would definitely get you pregnant, heavy with her powerful children. It was a family Makima had dreamt of for so long, and she would make it a reality. Soon, when you were ready for her.

Another flash of thunder ripped through the gloomy early sky. This time, it was you who snuggled further into her chest and let out a mewl that did that weird thing to her heart. You finally woke up, it seemed. 

“Morning~” her little angel yawned with a smile, pulling away just enough as the bruising grip she still had on your waist allowed you to stretch your shoulders. It never really occurred to Makima how readily you basked in her borderline suffocating attention. “How did you sleep, my love?”

Love.

The corner of your girlfriend’s lips curled up into a half-smile. One of her hands left your midriff to bring yours to her face, pressing soft, worshipful kisses on your knuckles. Oh, she’s in love with you alright, and whatever the fuck you were doing to Makima, it was genuinely changing her life. “Best sleep I’ve ever had.”

The redhead hummed against the soft skin of your palm, nuzzling her cheek into it. You did this. You and your gentle loving melted down the walls surrounding her heart. A foreign territory that terrified just as much as it captivated Makima. But for you…

When Makima fell for you, she thought she was sick.

So sick that she took a few days off of work to wonder what was happening to her.

She asked her higher ups and even Kishibe what was wrong in subtle ways.

They all concluded; she wasn't sick. She was in love.

But she didn't want to be. No, she wanted to just focus on Chainsaw Man and Denji! You were ruining her plans! You had to go.

So why couldn't she kill you?

She just couldn't kill you…

Though she continued to think her attraction to you was unnatural, she soon asked you out.

Say yes. Makima doesn't show it, but she wants you to accept her confession.

Though your relationship is not displayed around your co-workers, they know something is going on between you two.

They all think the same thing; "Good for her." "I'm happy for them." "She's dating someone? I thought she was just a scary emotionless woman!" "Lucky!"

Makima doesn't worry about anything.

So she's surprised she worries about you so much.

After your encounter with the Darkness Devil in hell, Makima was her usual quiet and mysterious self.

But Kishibe informs you she was worried sick when she found you.

And don't even get him started on how she was during the return of the Gun Devil.

She tries her best not to tell you her true motives with Denji, but if you give her puppy eyes she'll spill.

“Treat Troubles” Makima spying on Nayuta and Y/n at the store request! So essentially to give a premise, Makima noticed that lately whenever Y/n and Nayuta would come home from the grocery store Nayuta would always have a bag full of candy (I like the headcannon in this au that Nayuta inherited her love of sweets from her mother). And Makima tried to ask why to both Nayuta and Y/n but could never get a convincing answer, like Nayuta said “oh, daddy just decided to get me some candy!” And when she’d ask Y/n he’d just say “oh, I just decided she’s been a good girl and she deserved some candy.” But of course Makima could sniff out a lie from 500 miles away so she knew that that was a lie, but she just couldn’t wrestle the truth from Y/n. So she decided next time they went to the store that she would spy on them using her powers, she’d switch from one person to the next to avoid suspicion. That’s when she saw Nayuta hounding her father for treats, using very aggressive puppy dog eyes. He eventually gave in and gave her a bag to go get candy and then Makima decided that she give her a light scolding when she got home. I like the headcannon that Makima is the more put-their-foot-down parent. Not mean in any way, of course not. I just see Makima as the kind of parent who can resist puppy-eyes (ironic, I know) and is brave enough to say “No sweetie, you can’t have cookies until you’ve eaten all of your greens.”, whereas Y/n just can’t say no to her, like “Sigh, okay sweetie you can have cookies for dinner, just don’t tell your mother.” But that’s when Makima saw another woman flirting with Y/n in the aisle. She very much wanted to intervene, but couldn’t step in to avoid suspicion, but that’s when she heard at her feet “THEIF!” And she saw her daughter pointing at the woman flirting with Y/n. Then she started screaming at everyone in the store that the lady was a thief “THEIF! THAT LADY IS TRYING TO STEAL MY DADDY FROM MY MOMMY!” Nayuta started a whole ruckus and started yelling at the lady about how she was a thief and that she was being very rude. And then she pointed at the baby in the lady’s stroller and said “AND YOU! THIS IS MY DADDY! *clings to his leg* GO GET YOUR OWN DADDY!” And then Y/n gave the woman a quick apology for embarrassing her while limping away with his daughter, still clinging to his leg. Makima in disguise then smiled at Nayuta proudly without her noticing. Of course she’d scold her lightly for hustling her father for treats when she got home, but she wouldn’t scold her too hard. After all, she did stop a woman from “stealing” Y/n from her.

Makima started noticing that whenever you and nayuta went to buy groceries without her, something that mostly happened when she had to work, other than everything that you needed to buy there was always some kind of sweet snacks for your daughter, this of course wasn't a problem, makima had more than enough money to afford most things that nayuta wanted and she wanted nothing more than to see her daughter happy but whenever she asked you or nayuta about it you didn't give her a clear answer and were always vague

Makima had an idea about what was happening but to confirm it she decided to "keep an eye" on you while you were going at the store next time, she didn't have any qualms about using her powers for something like this, it wasn't hurting anyone after all and she was just making sure her lover wasn't being...coerced so she took control of a random person at the store and started looking through their eyes, making sure not to draw enough attention to herself so you couldn't find out what was happening

"Ok yuta we're almost done we just need-"

"CANDY!!"

As soon as she heard that makima looked towards where the sound came from and saw you with an almost full cart with nayuta following close behind

"No, not candy it's not on the lis-"

"What? But I want candy!"

"But your mother didn't write it on the list so we don't need any candy"

"But you always buy me candy when we go to the store"

"Yes but I really shouldn't have, makima has been asking me why I always give you so much candy"

Nayuta gasped happily and all of her previous sadness seemed to have disappeared as she hugged your leg

You couldn't help but giggle, even if makima might have been disappointed in you it was worth it to see your daughter this happy so you handed her a bag to grab the candy and pet her head again

"And remember don't buy too many"

She went to the candy aisle to go grab the candies as you sighed again and went back to buying important things

Meanwhile makima sighed too, this was exactly what she thought was happening, and she wasn't disappointed in you but in nayuta, she knew it was very hard for you to say no to her and it was naughty of nayuta to use that to her advantage....even if she had definitely taken that from her makima needed to scold her for this

She was about to undo her powers when she heard something else

"Hello there handsome~ what are you doing here?"

As soon as she figured out that the sentence was directed at you she couldn't leave like this, she just switched to another person closer to you so she could see the situation better and what she saw was a woman get far too close to you and invade your personal space while you were putting groceries in the cart

You forced a smile and not so subtly flashed your ring at the woman, something makima was very proud of, even if she never doubted for a moment you would have done something else

"Oh sorry but I'm married"

You tried to get away quickly but the woman got even closer grabbing your cart by the side

"Really? Well I don't see your wife anywhere"

You narrowed your eyes at the woman, you would have already left without saying a word if nayuta were here

"It's because she's at home relaxing and I don't want her to go grocery shopping after a long day at work"

Makima wanted to yell "of course I do" and take you away but she calmed herself enough to not act rashly

"With everything she does for me I'm fairly certain of that"

Seeing she couldn't get through to you she just got even closer and almost grabbed your arm, luckily you slapped it away before makima could let her jealousy take over and cause a scene

"Come on she doesn't have to know"

Before makima could do anything she heard another voice coming from nearby a much sweeter and more recognizable voice

All of you turned to see nayuta pointing with her index finger at the woman while holding the bag you gave her previously, now full of candies

When you came back home makima was surprisingly cheery considering she had just come back from work, and even more she didn't even ask you about the candies she did say something to nayuta though

“Envy is a terrible sin” (I’m an atheist, I can’t recall if envy is actually a sin) Makima x Male Reader. (This is Rekino2114’s original idea that I have reworded/rewritten while adding my own flair to it, but remember, the idea was originally the authors, I take no claim of ownership!) Makima was a beautiful woman, there was no doubt about that. To many, Y/n included, she was the most beautiful woman in Japan! When Makima stopped hiding her secret relationship from the rest of public safety, after she told Denji, every man (and some women) knew Y/n was a very lucky man indeed. Though they were downtrodden, most of the men who were now aware of their relationship backed off and didn’t try to woo Makima again… most… you see there were some men who thought that they deserved Makima far more than some nobody. They had known her longer, they’d taken her out for movies, dinners, gotten her gifts, in their eyes they were better looking. What did he have that they didn’t? Integrity, interest in her beyond what was just skin-deep. He was genuinely interested in her, seeing the longing for connection behind her spiral eyes, not strictly romantic, but in general, he saw more than just a pretty woman, he saw the true human her. They were just in it to lay with a pretty woman, but Y/n was genuinely interested in the person that Makima was. The guys, while they fought over her, could at least agree on one thing, that this nobody didn’t deserve Makima as much as they did, and so they formed a group that after patrol, pretty much all they did was harass and make fun of Y/n. But they’d also spy on him and what he’d do with Makima and try to use his methods to try and flirt with her, but all she’d do was ignore them and tell them to get back to work. Between those three things it was a miracle that Makima didn’t catch on to what was going on behind the scenes, especially because there were times when Aki, Himeno, and even Denji had to come to Y/n’s aid cause it was going too far. But there was a time where Y/n realized that it wasn’t just teasing. They actually hated him for “stealing a woman that wasn’t his“. He offered giving them less shifts to take a break, or perhaps more so they could get their anger out on devils, but then they said that the only person they wanted to get their anger out on was him. So being the kind soul that he was, he actually allowed them to hit him. They left bruises on his body but he had fought devils all the time, so he thought it was fine. Pain was just a part of the job. So weeks went on with Y/n thinking he was doing a service letting them hit him, but there was a day when Makima and Y/n we’re getting intimate and she saw the bruises and marks left on his body. She knew that it wasn’t from a devil so she asked him and he told her that it was just something he was doing for the guys who didn’t end up with her since in his eyes, they we’re just as good as him and they deserved her just as much as he did. Then Makima became frustrated, saying that wasn’t true. That Y/n wasn’t like them, he was special and that’s the reason why he ended up with her, because he cared about her, and showed genuine interest beyond her looks, while all the other men wanted was sex. After she got him cleaned up and they had an emotional moment and cuddle, Makima knew one thing. Those other men were dead. And she knew just how to do it. Not only did she want it to hurt, but she also wanted to humiliate them. So she called one of her sisters, Death, Yoru, or Fami (probably not Fami however. she loved her sister, but she didn’t trust her with this task) (all of whom bore the resemblance of simple schoolgirls, which would be embarrassing to die to) and with just the words “imagine it was your boyfriend” she got them in. Makima was fiercely protective of Y/n, and she wasn’t going to let anyone who both gaslit him and also hurt him get away with it.

People being jealous of your relationship with makima

You definitely expected jealousy when you made your relationship with makima public, she was an undoubtedly stunning woman after all and a good amount of people who worked for her had varying degree of a crush on her, after she stopped manipulating them and made it incredibly clear that she loved only you most of them moved on and stopped going after her (including denji even if it took a bit more time for him)

But not all of the people who liked her did, in fact there was a particular group of men who genuinely couldn't believe the news of your relationship, how could their boss be in love with a simple recruit who didn't even start working here until not that long ago? Sure you apparently became incredibly strong after getting close to makima but you still definitely didn't deserve her, at least not as much as they did, being with her and showering with compliments and gifts from the start

At first they still tried to court her, only for them to be rejected brutally and coldly, much more decisively than before, and they soon figured out the reason why, makima was actually in love with you, so purely and sweetly in love with you. they couldn't believe it, how the hell did you manage to actually win her heart, it was your fault that they couldn't have her

And so they moved their focus onto harassing you, when you came back to hq after a mission to report to makima and go back home with her they'd start insulting you, telling you makima was with you only because of pity and that you didn't deserve her and she was too much out of your league. Of course you didn't pay them any attention, that was until they stated hitting you physically

Of course you could have easily hurt them twice as hard with or without your powers, but you didn't want to, after all they did kind of have a point, for a good while they did nice things for makima so it was natural that they felt like this, you didn't excuse it but you could understand and you thought that letting them hit you was the solution

Even with your friends and members of your division helping you and giving you advice you still didn't tell makima, afraid of her reaction to what you were doing, you thought it was better like this, with her not knowing and the guys being happy by letting out their anger on you

But it all changed when makima did find out...for the better actually, well for you at least

"...darling what are these? What happened?"

You looked at her and sighed, you really couldn't lie to her, you loved her too much and so you told her everything, the harassing, the people doing it...and how you didn't do anything about it

"...y/n..why didn't you tell me? Or why didn't you stop them, I know you could have"

"...well it's not like they were fully in the wrong"

"What?"

"I mean i know i'm with you because you love me but in the end I just got lucky, those guys deserved you just as much as I did, maybe even more because of how long they have been he-"

You got shocked by makima raising her voice like this, she saw this and sighed calming down a little

"No y/n, that's not true, you said it yourself i'm with you because i love you but do you know why exactly I love you so much?"

"Hm?"

"It's because you understand me, you love me and give me the possibility to love, you see the human side of me not even i knew I had, and with your love you brought that side out until it was the only one that remained, even when I told you I was a devil, or about what I did and was planning to do you never left me, you never once considered abandoning me because you love me, you truly love the real me....I think that's the love I've been searching and yearning for my entire existence"

Makima smiled at you and you couldn't help but feel your heart warm up because of her kind words

You finally smiled at her again something that made her even happier

The way she said that last part sounded vaguely threatening but still with that loving tone she had with you

And so after the conversation you two had a bath to clean you up and makima let you sleep on her chest as usual, while thinking about what to do with your harassers

She could fire them, but that was far too little, the control devil didn't want anyone or anything who purposely hurt you to get away with it, and with how much damage both physical and psychological they had done to you, they couldn't be allowed to live any longer, and she knew exactly who to ask

"I wanted to talk about something, recently my boyfriend has been harassed and bullied by some of his coworkers, they started beating him up and telling him he didn't deserve me"

“Revising a Contract” Makima x Male Reader (partial Nayuta daughter au at the end). So Makima and Y/n are on patrol with their troop, they were fighting a devil, but it wasn’t all too strong. In fact, they were having some funny back-and-forth romantic banter a bit. They were sort of leading the devil on and playing with it a bit, knowing it couldn’t do them any real damage because of its weaknesses, it was trying to fight them, but it wasn’t strong enough to. But then Makima got cocky, there was a moment where she allowed the devil to land a hit on her, just below the ribs. She thought nothing of it, knowing that her healing factor and contract with the Prime Minister would save her from the hit, not to mention it was in no way fatal. The damage quickly healed, but then she heard Y/n let out a pained gasp and saw him clutching at his side. He removed his hand from his body and saw red stain through his suit. He pulled his suit open to see the same gash that was on Makima moments ago. Makima looked back in shock and remembered the exact wording of her contract. “Any damage perceived as an attack inflicted to Makima will be transferred to any random citizen of Japan.” …any random citizen of Japan… it hit him, 124.5 million people and it happened to hit him. Playtime was over, Makima quickly ended the fight, absolutely obliterating the devil that stood in her way while she made sure to get Y/n to the nearest hospital. She visited him in his hospital room to luckily find out that it was nothing too bad, with no damage to internal organs. He just needed stitches and he’d be out by the end of the day. After checking that he was okay about a dozen times Makima left the hospital so he could get his stitches and she went off to see the Prime Minister of Japan. She called in advance to schedule but he told her that he was booked for the day and couldn’t see her, but she made sure that he would see her. When she was in front of her superiors, she told them that she was revising her damage contract to make it so Y/n L/n could never be targeted by it. They did it, but when it was over, they mentioned that Makima was a cruel devil, a horseman of the apocalypse. Why did this one man warrant a changing of a contract? He was just 1 in 124 million. But then, without looking back, Makima says “That’s really none of your concern, is it? And Y/n has proven that I’m more than just a devil…” Many years go by, and this is either a newly pregnant Makima or a Makima who has recently given birth to Nayuta. She once again decided to revise her contract to make it so her unborn/newborn child could never be affected by the damage contract. It was done and after it was over her superiors mentioned that in their eyes… that maybe she has changed.

Getting hurt because of makima's contract

A/n:the second request was sent after I already finished writing this but i thought it was similar (even if way more extreme) to this so I tacked it on. Also this is another one of those periods when there are a lot of csm requests that were sent close to each other, I'll try to space them out but still expect more csm posts

Makima didn't follow you on missions often, she mostly did so when she missed you and wanted to spend some time together while still technically being at work. And whenever you did you didn't really fight, after all you could kill most devils by yourself and if it was a particularly stubborn one makima would just slaughter it in a matter of seconds so you just had fun while killing the devils, it was kind of a date

Just like today, you and makima were going on missions together only the two of you. And after seeing the sights for a while you finally found the devil

"Do you want to kill him or shall I do it kima?"

"...mh i think I'll take this one, it's been a while since I've had some fun darling, but feel free to join in too, i really love watching you fight after a-"

Makima was interrupted by the devil sprinting towards her and trying to slice her neck off with its blade like hands but of course she blocked it with simply one hand by holding its arm

"How rude, I didn't even finish my sentence"

She grabbed the devil's arm even tighter causing it to yelp in pain

"I really don't take kindly to people....or devils in this case who interrupt my conversation with my love"

She gently pulled her arm back ripping the devil's arm with that movement, she looked at it for a while before tossing it to the side, as the devil backed away in pain and left a pool of blood on the road makima noticed that grabbing the arm had left blood on her arm too

"Darling should we take a bath together when we get home? I got a bit dirty"

"Hm? But the blood is only on your arm you don't need a bath for that"

"I know but I'm sure you won't refuse the opportunity to take a bath together won't you?"

"........yeah you're right"

"Eheh I knew it"

Almost reflexively makima shot out a bang from her finger guns as soon as she saw the devil lunging in your direction, only on its leg though, now that it had tried to hurt you she wanted it to suffer

"Were you trying to hurt my husband? I'll warn you that is a very stupid and dangerous choice, well not like it matters i'm sure you would have easily killed it before it actually had a chance to hurt you"

"Aww you're just flattering me now"

"Well it's true, anyway I suppose it's time to get to business, I don't want to stay here for too long, is that ok love?"

"Of course, i want to go back home too"

Makima smiled and got closer to the devil now on the ground with one arm missing and a large bullet hole in its leg.

She pointed her finger gun at its body and was about to shoot until she felt cool air on a bit of her stomach. She looked back and saw that her suit had a gash on it, there wasn't any injury under it of course, but it was clear that the devil had tried one last ditch effort to attack her

"...oh what a shame I'm gonna need to buy another new suit, well that's not a big issue but I should have killed you soone-"

Suddenly she heard a pained gasp coming from behind her, of course she recognized that voice, it was yours

"....dar...ling?"

She turned around and saw that you were kneeling and holding your hand against your stomach, you unbuttoned your suit and saw that there was a gash on your stomach....the same gash that should have been on makima, it wasn't very deep but it was still bleeding and it definitely hurt

At first makima was confused but then she quickly understood what happened, you were affected by her contract with the prime minister....out of all 124 million Japanese citizens it hit you...why you? Why out of everyone it had to be you? You were the only one who makima would have never wished to be affected by the contract so what kind of insane bad luck or divine punishment could have caused this?

This was her fault, this was the fault of the contract she had made....you got hurt because of her

The control devil quickly ran to your now unconscious body and carried it bridal style, she looked at you, more specifically at the gash on your stomach....the one she had caused

She was about to leave when she realized she still felt the devil's presence behind her, she looked at it and the devil could feel the pure murderous intent in her ringed yellow eyes

"Disappear"

The devil died in an instant, she didn't care how painful it was, her new goal was now to get you to the hospital

As soon as she did she requested (ordered) the doctors to do anything they could to help you and she stayed there the whole time they were treating you, she made it very clear that she wouldn't allow failure of any kind

But thankfully she didn't have to worry too much, the wound wasn't deep enough to cause any damage to your internal organs and you'd just need to have stitches put on, after hearing that makima breathed a huge sigh of relief and went into the room you were being held in without even asking for permission, no one would stop her anyway

You were still unconscious so makima simply held your hand hoping you could somehow hear her

".....I'm so sorry my love, I should have been more careful.....if that hit had been more lethal then.....you would have......because of me"

She squeezed your hand even tighter almost shedding a tear at the thought

"......but I'll make sure something like this never happens again"

After she left the hospital she immediately called the prime minister and his secretary answered

"Hello it's makima speaking i would like to request a meeting with the prime minister, as soon as possible please"

"I'm afraid he's going to be busy with other meetings for the entire day, would you like to reschedule?"

".....sorry i must not have been clear, that wasn't a request it was an order, he will see me as soon as he can"

As soon as she was in front of her superiors she sat down and looked at them with her classic creepy smile which always managed to send shivers down their spines, they knew she could kill them at any moment if she truly wanted to, or make them do anything she wished and seeing as lately she only called meetings for very important matters, they were very worried this was the day she decided that they weren't of use to her anymore, but what she said next shocked them in a different way

"I am here to revise our contract"

"......what?"

"The damage contract we have, i'd like to add a clause to it. Make it so any Japanese citizen except y/n l/n can be affected"

".....y/n...l/n....who is this person?"

"And why would that matter to you, that won't change your answer right?"

"....w-well-"

"But I suppose you should know, if only to warn you....y/n....is my husband"

Of course they had heard of makima getting married but they all thought it was some other ploy of hers to enact another convoluted plan that they wanted no part in but the fact that she was now talking about you like that really made it seem like she genuinely cared about you...something they couldn't believe was possible

Makima started looking out of the window while talking

"Have you noticed how large scale devil attacks have begun dropping significantly lately? Or how public safety seems much more effective in dealing with the ones that show up? Or how devil hunters have begun to die way less during missions and generally are in much better condition?"

"............."

"Of course you haven't, anyway to put it simply that was because of y/n...or more specifically those were the results of policies I put in because of y/n, he didn't ask me to do that mind you, i did that because I realized my mistakes because of him"

They didn't answer again and continued starting at the devil

"I don't care if you believe me or not but ever since i've met him i've tried to protect the innocents from devils as much as I can and I will continue to do so as long as he is safe with me....I assume you know that what I said also means that if you try anything to hurt him or separate him from me...."

She moved her piercing gaze back to them causing them to shake in fear even before she started speaking

"Your punishment for doing so will be much more severe than even the devils who hurt him"

She got up and started walking closer to their desk while speaking

"But that shouldn't be a problem right? After all we have....some aligning objectives now, so as long as you behave and don't touch my love everything should be ok"

When she arrived in front of where they were sitting she extended her hand to the prime minister and smiled at him

"So shall we proceed with the contract?"

After the procedure was finished makima gently bowed her head and was about to leave when she heard a voice behind her

"......why him?"

She didn't turn instead only stopped walking

"....you don't really love him do you? He's just another pawn to you you're a devil after all....then why the changing of a contract"

Makima usually got very angry whenever someone insinuated that she didn't really love y/n because that couldn't have been farther from the truth but she also couldn't blame them because of their previous experiences with her so she simply contained her rage and calmly answered

"....like I said I don't care if you believe me or not, but I really love y/n more than anything else....for him I'm a human and so I will do my best to start acting like one"

She continued walking leaving her superiors confused and puzzled

A few years later makima once again called a meeting with them again for a very similar reason

"I have very recently given birth. my daughter is a half devil, her name is nayuta l/n, I would like to update our contract again so she can also never get affected by it"

As soon as they were done makima wanted to leave soon to go back home to help you with nayuta so she didn't engage in any conversation, she was pretty sure they already knew not to mess with her daughter even without any threats but this time she wasn't the one to start the conversation

"We have noticed the changes you made to public safety in these years....the number of death by devils has dropped drastically and public safety itself is experiencing one of its best periods of prosperity.....we owe you an apology for not believing you...and a thanks for everything you've done for this country"

".....don't thank me, if you really want to thank someone then thank y/n if it wasn't for him nothing would have changed"

She adjusted her tie and bowed again

".....you really have changed for the better"

She stopped and looked back at them with a slight smile

Because he kind of acts like one 5. Why do mommy and daddy wrestle and lick each other? Why does mommy call daddy “darling”? That’s not daddy’s name 6. Why do daddy, uncle D/y/n, Y/y/n, and F/y/n look similar? 7. Why does aunt Fami cry so much? What is she sad about? 8. How does a caterpillar turn into a butterfly? 9. Avya’s mommy “works with teeth” is she the tooth fairy? 10. Mommy and daddy say that too many sweets will rot my teeth, but my teeth aren’t rotten so why do they say that? 11. Why does my tooth hurt?

I’ve heard that you like angst in a recent post, so, well, I’ve got some thing angst for you, with a happy ending though of course. This is meant to tie into that “Makima Comforts You” request I made. What if Makima had a dream/nightmare about what would’ve happened had she never met Y/n? What if she saw the horrid things she had done, killing Denji’s found family, hurting innocent people, making the Angel Devil kill his village. And maybe to add more angst, what if Makima had witnessed herself killing Y/n, because in that turn of events, she didn’t even know him, he meant nothing to her, and the dream ended with that alternate ending version of Makima confronting herself, telling her that they are one in the same and that she could never change, that she doesn’t truly love Y/n and that she’s just using him for the love he gives her, that she’s gotten so good at pretending that she’s even fooling herself, and it’s going to end up like all other “relationships” she had, with her killing him when she got bored of him. Our Makima told her it’s not true, that she does love Y/n, and that she’d never hurt him, but then she wakes up. You can decide how she reacts, if she wakes up sobbing, or sulks, or pretends she’s alright. But of course Y/n knows somethings wrong and he confronts her about it and she breaks, telling him about the dream and that she’s afraid that she will hurt him eventually. But this time, it’s Y/n’s turn to comfort Makima.

When makima woke up, she was in a movie theater. She looked around and saw nothing but dozens of red seats around her all empty except for her own, she was about to react when she saw the screen light up, what she was on there left her completely terrified

It was her, or at least a version of herself, in every way it looked like her but makima could sense that there was something wrong about that image of her, her eyes looked darker, she knew that look, they were the eyes of the old her, something that became even more clear when she saw what her image on the screen did next

She forced aki to make a contract with the gun devil, transforming into basically a vessel for the devil and thus forcing denji to kill him

That makima killed you, not only that, she disposed of you so effortlessly and emotionlessly it felt like she was doing a chore rather than killing a person, makima could never even imagine herself doing anything that came close to what had just happened on the screen and yet the her on there had just did it with no thoughts at all, that was the final confirmation that that wasn't her

As much as makima wanted to stop watching, she couldn't, she was stuck on that seat with no way to close her eyes or look away, she already knew this was a nightmare and one she couldn't wake up from no matter how much she wanted to

As suddenly as it started the "movie" ended and before makima could breathe a sigh of relief she heard a voice come from her right

"Beautiful isn't it?"

She turned around and saw......her, or another her, she quickly recognized her as the makima from the movie, she was wearing the same black dress she wore during her wedding but there was something incredibly ominous about her and her eyes especially, something that was only accentuated by the red halo constantly floating above her head. makima wondered if this was how the people who met the old her felt

"....who....are you?"

The other makima gasped in fake surprise before offering a sickeningly sweet smile

"Don't you recognize me? I'm the devil who represents the fear of conquest and control I'm you makima"

".....stop lying"

"What are you-"

"What kind of devil are you? The nightmare one? What are you hoping to achieve by entering my dreams?"

The other makima blinked and looked genuinely surprised this time before erupting into laughter scaring even the true her

"I can't believe it. You're even more delusional than I thought. You've even begun to deny yourself"

"..............."

She got up and went face to face with her counterpart, as she walked, makima noticed that the movie theater around them disappeared, and now they were surrounded by nothing but darkness

"I am you, no matter how much you try to deny it, you know it better than anyone else"

"......what do you want?"

"I just wanted to ask how the plan was going, you're really taking longer than you originally planned"

"And don't try to deny it again, you know that what you saw was all your plan, your thoughts exactly, you wanted all that to happen, all to take control of the chainsaw devil"

She smiled again, makima started wondering if her smile really was as beautiful as you said it was because right now standing in front of her smiling self she wanted nothing more than to punch her in the face no matter what random Japanese citizen had to get hurt

"....because I have no interest in anything like that anymore"

She pressed her arm against her chest as she thought of you

Hearing that caused makima to get even madder as she glared at her other self

"Shut up, you know exactly who he is, that's why you included his death specifically in that movie of yours right?"

"Ah right, well as far as I'm concerned"

She stopped smiling now as she gained a serious look

"He is just another dog who I have no interest in, if he stands in the way of the plan he needs to be elimina-"

"If you dare say anything like that about him again I'll kill you, I don't care what happens to me"

"How protective, I can see he means a lot to you, even if I can't understand why, that will make killing him all the much sweet-"

"Bang"

She was stopped by an air buller grazing her shoulder, leaving her shocked

"I warned you, didn't I?"

Now actually annoyed the other makima extended her fingers to create a chain that wrapped around makima's neck

"Tch"

"Sit"

Losing control of her body she obeyed and got on her knees. She tried to remove the chain but her attention moved to her other self looking at her from above

"I don't know why you were born, but you smell just like a human.....what happened?"

"........a.....human?"

"No matter, the plan has to continue did you already forget our goal? The new world we wanted, we will create it no matter what has to happen"

".....I think I understand now"

".....hm?"

".....who you are"

"...I told you I'm you"

"You're the control devil"

She grabbed the chain wrapped around her neck, the one she had used to control and hurt so many people previously

"I'm done letting you control me too now"

And broke it in half

Another shot rang out this time it hit the other makima directly in the heart and she fell down on the ground bleeding, makima was surprised to see technically herself being defeated so easily but she explained it as being a dream. She walked closer to her body on the ground stepping in her blood and looking down at her

"Now that I have someone's to live for, I won't let you ruin anything anymore, I won't let anyone hurt y/n......not even myself"

"........i see.....you are still as cruel as ever"

"............"

"Go ahead and live your fantasy for however long you want, you'll return back to normal before you even know it. No matter what you say to yourself, you're still a devil"

".....i-"

"You will never be a human, face it, you're me, and will always be the control devil"

At this point makima started getting even angrier and sweating

"Stop it"

"Even now, you're using y/n without even realizing it. You wanted to be loved, so you changed yourself into what you thought someone could love, but no matter how much you try to change, you'll still always be a devil, you'll end up hurting y/n when this love stops feeling good and you'll return back to your plans"

"....I said....stop it"

Makima attempted to strike the body on the ground before she woke up, panting and sweating. Looking around, she saw she was in her room, the one she shared with you, and the moment you came in your mind, she turned and saw you sleeping next to her

".....darling..."

She looked at your sleeping form for a relatively long time and her heart sank even more, of course she didn't want to believe the words her devil self had just said but her brain couldn't help but do just that

She could never kill you, she loved you more than anything and anyone in the universe, mostly because she had never loved until you entered her life. It was true she changed because of you, but that wasn't just because she wanted to be loved, it was her way of making amends with everyone else, if she developed morals and started helping humanity for real then she could keep telling herself that she wasn't as cruel of a devil as she could have been, after all she hadn't fully put her plan into motion, even if she had killed and manipulated people she still didn't do in as big of a scale as she was planning so in the end....it was fine....right?

"......who am I kidding? I'm still such a cruel monster......and that's all I'll ever be"

Makima took a deep breath and hugged her knees under the blanket, she kept her head low so that any possible sniffles or tears wouldn't wake you up, she never wanted to bother you especially because only you caused her to feel this way usually, however it looks like she underestimated you

"Makima....is everything alright?"

She looked towards you once again but this time she saw you were awake and staring at her

"Y-y/n?"

"What happened? You look....makima have you been crying?"

"N-no please don't worry everything is alright"

You put your hand on her cheek and brushed it softly

"Makima, I can tell when something's going on, please tell me"

She struggled actually talking and froze for a bit, that left you even more worried so you gently held her hand with your other one

"Did you....have a nightmare?"

"....y-yes"

Hearing that you hugged her and started stroking her back for a while, your warmth and closeness calmed makima down enough for her to start speaking again and she explained everything about the nightmare, about the conversation with the other her and what she said about makima never being human and just using you. She swore to you that it wasn't true and that she truly loved you so much, but she wasn't sure if you'd believe her, and she couldn't have blamed you if you didn't

But you continued to hug her even more tightly and listen to everything she had to say, until she said something but particularly shocked you

"....y/n....if you ever think I'm turning back into my old self.....then please kill me"

"W-wha-"

"Do it early, before I get the chance to do any more harm or brainwsh you or anyone else, ask denji to eat me that way i'll stop existi-"

"Don't even joke about that"

".....what?"

"Do you seriously think I could just kill you like that.....after everything we went through"

"Makima, you've loved me more than anyone has ever done before, all of the time we spent together, our connection meant something, and it can't just disappear like that"

This time she was the one to hold both of your hands

"Believe me y/n, I think that too, I love you so so so much and want nothing more than to spend the rest of my existence in peace with you.....but I'm still a dangerous devil, and if I start changing for the worst and reverting back to my old self.....I'd much rather die than endanger you or any other human"

"What I'm trying to say is.....this second chance I've been given....sometimes I think I don't deserve any of this mercy"

After a bit of time spent in more silence you hugged makima again and spoke with a soft but determined voice

"No you're wrong, you deserve all of this and you'll never become your old self again"

"........w-what? Y/n what are you saying?"

"I've been living with you for how many years now? I know you and more than that I love you, I love you so much, and I know that the woman I love could never do the things in your dream"

"......i-i"

"Makima for me, you're a human, as much of a human as me or anyone else, and every human deserves another chance. I don't care about the powers that you have, how and where or when you were born, and what you biologically are. You are the human woman I love, and I will never stop loving you no matter what happens"

At this point tears started welling up in makima's eyes once again, this time way more than before, it was because of a weird mix of sadness but also overwhelming happiness and relief, you truly loved her just as much as she loved you, she already knew you considered her a human but hearing you say that after such a vivid nightmare that made her question her own self was exactly what she needed. so she hugged you back and started crying in your chest while muttering apologies and other loving words

"Thank you so much y/n.....i-i really do love you, thank you"

"It's nothing, I just said the truth, do you want to cuddle even closer now, I'll make sure you don't have any other nightmares"

"...yes of course, I'd love that"

And so she wrapped her arms around you and you begun to cuddle once again, makima this time having beautiful dreams of you
