Why is it that when I'm reading a fic I literally never question how well the deviations from canon are explained or incorporated into the fic, but as soon as I'm writing it I'm overanalysing everything?

When I'm reading the author could literally say in the notes, "here is a list of things that just didn't happen, canon sucks lol" and I'd be like, "understandable, please continue" but when I'm the writer I'm like, "if I don't comprehensively explain every last change I've made from the canon, while also weaving it seamlessly into the narrative, I've failed and this fic will be garbage"????

This has been one hell of a week.

Got a kitten.

Saw the Steven Universe movie trailer. I have no idea how to react to it. I have some misgivings. However, the thing that bothers me is something that I will have to wait until the movie airs before discussing, because who knows? Maybe I’m wrong and my concerns are for nothing.

Found out Veronica Mars is on Hulu and started watching it (alas, the ending of season 4 has been spoiled for me; but also, thankfully, the ending of season 4 has been spoiled for me). It’s good, but I should really finish some of the other shows I’ve been watching first.

Turned 31 and had the best birthday evah. It’s been a long time since I’ve been excited about my birthday and not depressed or embarrassed about it.

Got the Dragonlance Chronicles as a present. Hell. Fucking. Yes! I haven’t read these books since I was freakin’ eleven (and I only ever got to read the first two books and a book set much later in the series). Unfortunately, I already have a ton of library books to read (and audiobooks to listen too) first so it’ll be a while before I can start reading them. Also there may be Dragonlance reblog spam in the future of this blog, because... dude, it’s freakin’ Dragonlance. Nostalgia city.

Took my driver’s test and got my license (a week after I said I would). WOO!!

Otherwise, I’ve been mostly reading, listening to audiobooks, and (trying) to write. I haven’t actually reviewed any of the books or audiobooks I’ve finished. I should really do that....
