My goal has never been (and never will be) to achieve democratic governance. All democracies self-destruct, usually sooner rather than later. I like it that the checks and balances of our “representative” republic allow for corrections, sometimes even massive corrections, up to and including electing a political outsider whose personality I hated, whose morals I saw to be quite suspect, who I did not vote for his first time around, who has turned out to be the right bulldog in the fight for some amazing battles I never expected to see won in my lifetime, despite the incredible importance of the issues, such as the overturning of chevron.
Every elected official will always be flawed. None can ever be perfect. All of humanity is both fallible and corruptible.
I love a system that allows for constant vociferous debate from every viewpoint where I’m allowed to hate the crypto thing and LOVE the Chevron outcome. That is what America is all about, the open public debate where we agree AND disagree and keep trying to work towards better and better.
IF we had a politician somewhere who represented me personally…well that would be quite a unicorn to find and convince to run …especially considering that I would NEVER run. It would have to be a non-denominational Protestant Christian woman who had lived in Virginia, Maryland, Ohio, a short time in Texas, two places in Georgia and two places in Florida and has traveled to or through over half of the states across the last 56 years, maybe as many as 40 states I think, twice cheated on and abandoned by normie men who had previously claimed to be Christians who believed in real marriage commitment. Someone who has never been a feminist but due to previously mentioned experiences and other unspoken issues could easily get in a dark headspace of wondering why men even exist but works hard to remind herself that good men certainly do exist and are extremely important in the world. Someone who has never shacked up and played house outside of making a true marriage commitment, who homeschooled her kids for years, who is generally intrepid about most things in life regardless of suffering pain problems, who works more than full time getting in the car with teenagers and teaching them to drive, who is a history buff and a political junkie. It would have to be someone who has had health problems since birth and has later fully divorced herself from the entire notion of mainstream western medical establishment and learned and experimented a lot with diet and with alternative and complementary care as well as refused to hold medical insurance for the last 11 years, ever since the massive corruption known as Obamacare was originally introduced as mandatory.
We really really don’t need or want personal representation for every person to fully relate to. We want representatives who move our government in correct directions more than they screwup and make things worse for everyone.
