i'm a little confused how this works; can you only continue to get this funding if you become successful? do you have a certain amount of time to "become successful" before they rescind funding? they note in the replies that it's not perfect, but it is enough to live on and focus on their art.
Just seems so foreign to me.
we have arts grants in australia but generally only for people who are already either established artists, or are have already won prestigious awards, or are some sort of "rising star" of the art world. like i'd never have a chance in hell of 'winning' one of those grants, especially considering you're always competing against thousands of other artists. And the grant is a temporary ofc, with a set outcome usually.
