why does fidelity call sodas "soda" and not "pop" or "soft drink"?
You make a good point and are correct—being that he has an English father and Canadian brother (and that they live with their father a lot) he should be saying soft drink. But I am an American and that word is not used here at all really except in very specific cases in the word soda is broadly becoming the most common word used here. Previously it was the word most commonly used in New England.
So real answer: I messed up 🥴. Fake answer: maybe he really likes American social media and picked it up from there. Or maybe he says it because Ivan said it to him in the kitchen.
