Okay but….what if sentient!honmoon was evil and viewed its hunters less as protectors and more as….servants that existed only to ensure that it was protected?
But something has changed. The shimmering armor across the world is more then it was before, and it can feel it. The soul of one of its hunters leaving.
The Honmoon rejects that.
The Honmoon is reforged, birthed by the trust and love between its three hunters. But something’s off. The oldest Hunter, the one who had cut herself off from the Honmoon, had struck down its chosen.
The Honmoon does not know her name, but it knows her soul. A beutiful soul, shining with the divine light of a Hunter, and the raw power of a demon. It’s brilliance blinding to all who bore witness to it.
That soul lingers, it had to. To save the other chosen who had fallen into the clutches of the demon king. Now that shes saved her loves, her soul is content to move on.
They find her in the dirt by the tree.
The soul is halted. It is not allowed to cross over, not yet. The soul is not angry, or scared, but it is confused. It asks with the harmonies within it why the Honmoon is reaching to her now, after her voice has fallen silent and her heart stopped thrumming.
The Honmoon guides her back, showing her the scene. The two chosen, whom this soul loves with its entire being, are weeping over the physical body shes left behind.
The Honmoon offers her a choice, then. She can leave, cross to the other side where her mother awaits. She would be happy there, the Honmoon shows her the joy that could be if she leaves.
But then it lets her feel some modicum of the pain she would feel should she stay. It lets her feel, just for a moment, what continuing to live would be like.
The soul hesitates, demon and hunter, dead and alive. It’s a contradiction, yet it is loved so dearly by the two souls cradling its remains.
The soul bids her mother wait, for she will return.
Someday.
She lets the Honmoon weave itself into her, binding her soul just as she did to remake the Honmoon.
It guides her soul into the vessel, wrapping around the remains as the two others watch on in shock. This should not be, it cannot be, and yet it is.
With a gasp, Ryu Rumi awakens to a world of pain.

Mira is shocked. She has had a number of shocks the past few hours. First, she discovers that Rumi, one of the women that she loves, is a demon. Next, she discovers that she was working with the Saja boys. Finally, she learns that Celine killed her, even though somehow she was there, saving her and Zoey from Gwi-ma.
They found her body in the dirt by the tree.
Sticky and cold, dirty from the fighting and from laying on the dirt. Her chest has a hole in it, no longer bleeding as it is hollow.
The shock doesnt come from the fact that she and Zoey can’t seem to accept it. They both are crying, sobbing as they try to reach out to Rumi’s soul.
They used to be able to feel it, when she was alive. But now it’s gone, leaving nothing but an empty shell.
They will never get to apologize. They will never get to tell her how they feel about her. They will never do many things with her.
Then something shifts.
The Honmoon, the new Honmoon, whispers against her and Zoey’s souls. Not quite a comfort, but a question.
Will they help her?
They do not hesitate, for they’ve already lost her. They will do anything for Rumi.
The Honmoon cannot speak, for it has not voice. It does not direct for it has no hands. But it can let them hear what happens within its depths.
It is Rumi, bidding someone farewell. The Honmoon urges them then, drawing upon them to begin singing. A guide and a way to empower the Honmoon.
They sing a song of sorrow, of regrets, of apologies.
They sing as the Honmoon wraps around Rumi’s body, in the dirt under the tree.
They sing as it weaves itself into the hole in her chest, tightening into something solid yet ethereal.
They sing in shock, even as Rumi’s eyes shoot open, screaming and clutching at her chest.
They found her in the dirt by the tree.
And now shes found her way back to them.
It takes several minutes for Rumi to stop screaming. Not because she is no longer in pain, but because she passes out. Mira and Zoey, sobbing in relief, hold her tightly to them for what could be moments or hours.
Eventually, Mira gets them all to stand. They must leave this place before Celine returns to finish the job.
They bring Rumi home, back to the penthouse, and in a moment of clarity revoke Celine’s access to the penthouse. She is not allowed to hurt Rumi ever again.
They find supplies, well stocked medicines and pain killers. They use them on Rumi, hoping they may help. The Honmoon is still weaving itself tightly in the hole in her chest, slowly helping to pull it closed.
Rumi wakes up an hour later, gasping from the still almost mountainous amount of pain. Zoey and Mira are there, holding her tightly, telling her they love her and please never leave them again.
Rumi is delirious from the medicine and pain, but promises not to leave them. She never could, nor would she ever.
She found them in the dirt by the tree, beside her body. She had seen the tears falling from their eyes, watering her body as though they could heal her. She would never again do such a thing to the two women she loves.
The recovery over the next few days is slow going. The new Honmoon holds, no demons able to breach it. Celine calls Mira and Zoey a few times, but they ignore her calls.
At one point, while Rumi is asleep, Celine tries to enter the penthouse. The front desk called up to them, saying they have Celine complaining about faulty cards. Zoey tells them in no uncertain terms that Celine is to remain on the ground floor, regardless of whatever she might claim.
Bobby came by to visit. Mira ended up pulling him to the side, explaining everything. He was skeptical until she pulled out her Gok-do, and showed him Rumi recovering with the Honmoons aid.
He said he needs a minute to process it, spending about an hour just staring out the window. When he finally stood up, he began making calls.
He organized supplies to be delivered to the penthouse each week, so the girls wouldn’t have to leave it. He hires extra security, after hearing what Celine’s done to Rumi.
He tells them to stay off the socials, he’ll handle the media. He can spin it as Huntrix protesting in a pre-planned PR stunt against the rigorous demands of idols, especially from Celine.
Celine tries to sneak in, once, but is immediately caught by security. They throw her out of the building, something the media catches wind of and even gets a picture of.
Celine ends up falling under intense scrutiny, questions about her treatment of Rumi over the years and the rigorous demands shes always given Rumi.
People started to notice things in old interviews and pictures and videos. The distance she kept, always a distance one has for a coworker, not a child you’re caring for.
A whistleblower in Sunlight entertainment leaks emails, hundreds of them, between Celine and Huntrix. Always demanding more, telling them it wasn’t good enough, that they aren’t trying hard enough. People noticed that it was only at Rumi that those emails were directed.
Celine stopped trying to break into the tower, focusing more on her reputation which is being torn apart. Rumi doesnt release any statements, still recovering from the lethal blow Celine had dealt.
She never fully recovers from it, her voice now strained on her bad days. She retires from singing, instead falling back as a writer for Mira and Zoey’s songs. She still manages to add her own vocals sometimes, and even the occasional verse or two.
Mira and Zoey end up marrying her three years after she retires. It’s a quiet affair, only family is invited. Naturally, that means Bobby. Celine gets a single post card of all three girls flipping her off with wedding bands on their middle fingers, a message of “just married, glad you’re not here” on the card.
Celine… no one’s sure where she is after that. She ended up vanishing after the wedding, sunlight entertainment left to the board members and Bobby, whos taken over as ceo.
The girls never look for her. She never reaches out. That’s for the best, because if either of them had ever seen her again they would have killed her for what she did to Rumi.
Mira and Zoey spend the rest of their lives loving Rumi, caring for her and letting her care for them. They argue sometimes, but always talk it through so no one has any big issues later on. They always remember how they had lost her, and how she was returned by the Honmoon.
As for Rumi… she enjoys sitting under trees in the summer, watching the shadows from the leaves. Laying in the dirt, she watches the sky as Mira and Zoey lie next to her, talking and laughing about anything and everything.
After everything, Rumi is finally, blessedly, all right.

AU where Rumi's dad isn't actually a demon but was the honmoon. It hated all the repression and lack of empathy from the hunters and was like "y'all are getting a crash course in acceptance and empathy". it made miyeong pregnant when she had a one night stand. (not biologically his, honmoon just needed a cover). the honmoon made rumi part demon so SLS would realize that demons were once people and gwi-ma was using shame to control them. they would need heal the honmoon by getting rid of the repression (the gold) but then gwi-ma saw the turmoil from all of this and decided to attack SLS after rumi was born and he took out miyeong and the third sunlight sister. SLS was surprised that rumi came out half demon. so celine tries to figure it out through her own investigating. celine figures out that rumi's dad wasn't a demon like she assumed but doesn't know how she is one. celine lies to rumi about her demon heritage because she thinks it a punishment from not protecting miyeong and the third sunlight sister. rumi grows up thinking her dad is a demon and the movie happens the way we see it. afterward rumi keeps asking more questions about her dad during their family therapy sessions and celine reveals she lied about her father. Rumi goes into a spiral and tries to find out what really happened. she goes back to old habits and pushes everyone away. she abandons huntrx all together to find out what really happened and mira and zoey are trying to follow her because they know she needs their support.
My friend who I usually make listen to my silly headcanons is asleep, so I'm putting it out into the world.
I hear a common fandom consensus of the hunters have always been a poly group, and that the Honmoon pulls their souls together in a way that almost always ends in a romantic relationship between the three, but what if that's for a reason!
Was thinking, what if it pulls the hunters towards a relationship because of the risk associated with a legacy hunter. The hunters should always be fresh blood because of the possibility of favoritism or harshness on a future hunter from the past generation?
I'm not currently playing on any side of the Celine debate yet, haven't done a thorough enough character study, but whether an overall good parent or bad parent, she felt as if she was directly responsible for Rumi on a level she wasn't quite for the other girls, which resulted in pushing her harder. Of course, Rumi's heritage had a play in this, but also the fact that this child was entrusted to her by her closest friend/soulmate/partner.
What if the Honmoon actively commits lesbianism to prevent such things from destroying future generations?

It has been a year. I have seen human Derpy and Sussie. I have seen Honstrap. I have seen human Gwima. I have seen magical polytrix baby by way of Honmoon. I have seen Sentient Honmoon. I have seen Honmoon-Treated-As-Polytrix's-Newborn-Child. I have even seen the Honmoon used in various smut situations in ways that arent even remotely canon to how the Honmoon works in the movie.
So why, dear god, has NO ONE TRIED TO FUCK THE HONMOON YET
Where's my sexy anthropomorphic personification of an ancient barrier? Where's my thousand year old eldritch goddess whose body body is made up entirely of literal curving lines? Where's my fascinating design character design choices on an unreasonably hot rendition of a thing that isnt even canonically sentient that somehow ends up makes it onto the tumblr sexypeople polls and then makes it to at least round 3 due to everyone's commitment to the bit?
Come on, tumblr. Come on, monsterfuckers. It is june. There is a gay barrier. What are we doing?
It doesnt even have to be for horny purposes. We already have magical polytrix child. We already have polytrix being the moms to the new Honmoon. Why not combine both of these? Have polytrix try to wrangle a glowing, floating baby. Have them try to raise a tiny god that they technically gave birth to. Why has it been a year and no one has explored this yet?
(For anyone saying "Hey OP, why not do it yourself?", I am, in fact, doing that. Although the fic im working on is more "Rumi fused with the Honmoon and became it" than the Honmoon as a separate entity, but similar principles. It's just taking a while because dialogue is a bitch. And also I'm still working on my art skills.

Like yes, it's alive. It has been alive or hundreds of years, falling in love with three children only to lose her babies over and over. It bleeds for its daughters, silently wishing that these ones somehow make it. It's been grieving all its life. Imagine its heartbreak when the sunlight fall apart. It's distress as it weakens, helpless to save Huntr/x from the same fate, imagine it's relief being brought back to her children stronger than ever.
