Danny Phantom Randomness (The Way of the Ninja)
“Infinite Realms” is a really interesting episode despite being from Season 3 since it gave us a lot of cool concepts like Blood Blossoms, Frostbite & the Far Frozen, and the Infimap. And in the most recent chapter of my fanfic “Nevermore” I wanted to come up with a way to get Danny and the gang to Salem and figured why not use the Infimap since Vlad wasn’t there to steal it in this timeline? Still, this one scene where Danny was a Ninja always stood out to me for some reason and now I think I know why...
On the surface it looks like he staged this dramatic entrance but what if there was a bit more to it than that? What if the timing was a little off and Danny, Sam, and Tucker got there a bit earlier than Vlad and Danny actually trained with someone in the Ninja ways? Say, a guardian spirit he warned about Vlad trying to take over the kingdom?
To be fair, Danny’s a fast learner so picking up sword fighting probably wouldn’t take too long. And better yet, it would explain how Danny managed to blend in so well in this scene because I’d like to think that if Vlad didn’t already KNOW it was him, Danny learned how to mask his ghost signature Ninja style.
Compared to when he tried to look like he was fighting like a Ninja early on you can see a huge difference. They grow up so fast and obviously Danny’s a lot stronger than he used to be, not to mention confident.
Personally I like the idea that whoever trained Danny lent him that sword which is why it could withstand blows from Vlad’s ecto-energy one. I mean, it makes sense right since we don’t know how even the sturdiest of man-made swords would do in a fair fight against a ghost unless it had some kind of anti-ghost properties imbued into the metal.
Also, bonus idea!
While I get Vlad’s frustration that Danny kept showing up wherever he tried to take over, what if afterwords it finally clicked WHY that happened? Frostbite even says “...The map is mysterious. Though it can take you where you wish to go, it sometimes take users to where it feels they need to go.” the key word being NEED.
Translation, Danny will always be a part of Vlad’s destiny for better or worse so once Vlad realizes that maybe he’d double down on trying to get Danny on his side no matter the cost when before he had given up on that which is why he attempted to clone Danny. Honestly, I’m shocked Vlad never tried any of the other classic forced-evil-underling routes like brainwashing, blackmail, hypnosis, or ironically time travel to change the past so Danny never found out about his plans to humiliate Jack at the college reunion or that he was half-ghost until the circumstances were better and Vlad could play the hero and save Danny while he’s still weak and inexperienced. You know, things like that.
Anyways, that’s all I wanted to share so I hope you enjoyed reading!
