Danny Phantom Random Episode Thoughts (Part 5)
Note: I was planning on only rewatching the episodes from the show that relate to my fanfics so I could write down more notes about my observations and figure out some important details I’m a bit rusty on or want to expand on, but at this point it might be a good idea for me to start from the beginning after all. That said, I still wrote down some stuff after watching where I left off before in these random episode thought posts and I’m going to share them before starting my Danny Phantom marathon! I’ll continue writing the rest of these notes once I reach the same place again.
Walker is totally obsessed with the rules, something we all know, so he’s constantly trying to bring “order” to the Ghost Zone by capturing fugitives. Good luck with that since the whole place is full of hostile ghosts and other monsters, you’re gonna need a bigger prison for all those!
Am I the only one who notices the similarity to his outfit and the Guys in White? It might just be a design choice but what if...he used to be one from a different time period and his obsession about law and order and “controlling dangerous ghosts” stemmed from that? Just a thought...
Walker is an expert manipulator, strategist, and smarter than most of Danny’s enemies besides Vlad where it counts.
Walker fully understands Esperanto which makes me wonder if it’s just a ghost thing where they all just understand each other or if he knows multiple languages in general.
Wulf is best boi! Enough said!
Walker’s men caused hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage to Amity Park in a single night while out on their raid.
Is this when the “Ghost Watch” started airing on the news in Amity Park? As in when the rest of town accepted/knew now that ghosts are real and an actual problem in their lives? Gonna have to double check this!
Wonder how many of these rules they kept for emergencies in Casper High:
Escort home directly from school.
Wulf is really smart too and an excellent tracker. He jumped in front of everyone Danny had been in contact with while pretending to randomly “scare” said people so Walker’s goons knew exactly who to overshadow.
When Wulf pinned Danny down he said “Servi” which means “served” as in a smug “you’ve just been served” in a sassy teen-like way.
Wulf gets spooked (ironic given that he’s a werewolf ghost) after Maddie shoots him off of Danny and he tries to make a break for it and looks really scared. Like yes he did what Walker told him to but it was never personal, he didn’t have anything against Danny, Wulf just wanted to be free and when he saw an opening he took it like any sane person would when being used by someone like Walker through blackmail since he’s the one who kept him caged up to begin with.
You’d think even Danny would find it extremely odd that Paulina, Dash, and Kwan would volunteer let alone be into Jack and Maddie’s “Ghost Keter” thing. It seems so unlike them to play activist in keeping the school safe from ghosts instead of leaving it to the adults like the rest of their classmates. They just don’t seem the type (especially that close to the start of the show) who would risk their popularity for something like this.
Jack and Maddie have a portable ghost portal in their RV which only has enough energy to last 15minutes, so it’s likely still in the early stages of development and only a prototype.
I know it’s supposed to be funny but I honestly don’t think it’s that easy to swallow a spork.
Tucker knows about Esperanto and he can speak it but honestly I think he only knows specific memorized phrases. And even then its probably not the same dialect Wulf uses anyway since the language is originally from the 1800′s.
Wulf drilled through the portable ghost shield with his claws which means one of two things, either his power to “claw” into things is really that strong or the portable shield is a lot weaker than the one around Fenton Works which means if it took enough of a beating any ghost could break through if they really wanted to.
Wulf destroyed the RV to take down the shield completely and went to Danny again, this time for help, and Bullet started hurting him for no reason using the shock collar out of spite and cruelty. What a jerk!
Jack and Maddie have a portable portal gun too, again something likely still in the testing stages so it has limited uses, takes up a lot of energy, and takes a long time to charge which doesn’t help much since most ghosts are really fast!
Danny rescues Wulf using his ghost stinger attack to reverse the flow of ecto-energy in Bullet’s weapon which went from neon purple/pink to green.
They brought Wulf to Tucker’s house where they hid him in the attic (which is surprisingly cozy and kinda makes me wish the show showed them hanging out there too instead of just at Danny’s or Sam’s place) and Wulf snapped aggressively at Sam when she tried to touch the shock collar. Danny had earned his trust but not the other two just yet and Wulf is still feral for the most part.
Yep, Tucker doesn’t know the actual language of Esperanto as far as speaking it since he asks Wulf “Who is Walker” instead of asking what Walker wants with Danny or what he’s after and that supports my earlier point about only knowing set phrases.
In all the chaos Danny forgot his thermos at school.
Ok, so everyone in that room Danny walked into were overshadowed right? But their eyes and voices were all normal while we’ve seen in the show that whenever Vlad and Danny overshadow someone, heck even that one time Tucker does it, the eyes change color and sometimes the voices sound like themselves and not the person they’re controlling. To me this means that this is either an inconsistency in the show or it depends on how much experience said-ghost has with possession or some other factors such as when their emotions make their ghost energy spike and show more of their true self. Even Poindexter wasn’t an expert at it when he overshadowed Danny so he still sounded like himself and Danny’s eyes turned grey, so for the most part I think the only ones who can see when the eye colors are different is us, aka the audience, and the other characters but only when its more obvious because of the energy spike which means to them at least the possessed person looks and sounds exactly like themselves most of the time. (Note: Sorry for rambling about this part, its something that’s always bugged me in the show since I was never really sure what was considered canon with possession with all the inconsistencies in this one important story element)
Overshadowing someone gives them the same ghostly endurance because Danny slammed Dash into the roof of a car, which would have killed a normal person by mistake as if he’d been hit by a car or in a car crash, but he gets away completely unscathed.
Ghosts can stand/walk on walls like spiderman, lolz!
Walker left Dash’s body to go overshadow the mayor so Bullet took over after while another goon took his place inside the principle of Casper High.
Walker tried to waste Wulf! NO! NOT MY WULFY!
Wulf was looking at a picture of Danny, Sam, and Tucker while looking pretty lonely when the shock collar started zapping him. Poor Wulf!
Tucker just barely managed to override the shock collar with his PDA, but he should be proud! Good job saving Wulf!
Once curfew hit and Wulf jumped out the window, Tucker’s parents told Sam she’d have to stay over night and that all technology had to be turned off. I think this is a Tucker-specific rule which he probably doesn’t always follow due to staying up late at night messing around on his computer.
Wulf tried to blend in by pulling up his hood and pretending to be someone out for a jog, naw!
The mayor was going to put Maddie in charge of dealing with the ghost problem when Walker overshadowed him mid-sentence and switched to Jack for obvious reasons, he doesn’t want them wasting Danny, he wants revenge and for him to feel like a prisoner in his own hometown.
Poor Danny, he’s just a 14yr old kid getting blacklisted by the entire town and by very people he’s struggling to protect as Danny Phantom. That’s seriously messed up.
Sadly Danny made a big rookie mistake by assuming his parents were being overshadowed too (which come on any of us could have made in that situation when everyone else besides Sam and Tucker who have been glued to his side the entire time) and he attacked them with a small ray and made a bad situation even worse for himself. You done goofed Danny! But again, he’s still learning and was bound to still make these kids of mistakes this early in the show.
Maddie is a 9th degree Blackbelt which unlike with Valerie supposedly being one too -which we only hear about much later on in the series- actually IS possible for her since it takes around 32-40 years total according to what info I could find online (please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong since I don’t practice karate but even I know it takes years of study and practice) because earning each degree of blackbelt takes about 2-6 years. So at most, if Valerie started karate practice really young around 5yrs old or so if she practiced really hard I could see her achieving at least a 3rd degree blackbelt realistically at her age.
Ok, gonna stop here for now since I went off on a tirade in a couple places but I still have other things written out so keep an eye out for Part 6! And if you’re curious about my other episode thoughts, here are links to all of those so far!
