Peter felt his rage boiling over spilling into every step he took, and the door to the training room hissed open. He stalked inside his fury palpable, spidey-sense, he webbed the robot right before it shot him and pulled. The robot came rocketing towards him and he punched through the metal frame and into the control panel, but that wasn't enough he kept punching ripping out wires, and desecrating the hunk of metal in front of him.
"Gezz, what's your damage?" Sam's annoying voice cut through the groaning metal. Peter turned his head so fast you could hear it crack.
The team took a step back surprised at his level of anger. Peter felt some guilt wash over him, he figured they should know. "I- I just... bumped into an ex."
The team's faces turned from concern into surprise. Though if you know Peter you would also know that he can't stand silence, so he talked. "He just told me about how he has money now, and a bright future, and a BIGGER DICK!"
Danny was a bit taken aback by that statement in particular, "What?"
"Every time I think about him, I can't help it I just- GRA!" Peter punched the dead robot into the wall on the other side of the reinforced training room walls, it hit it so hard that it created a dent.
Danny stepped forward intent on trying to comfort his friend and teammate, "Spider,"
Coulson's voice came in over the innercom, "Spiderman, how about a solo training session today? The rest of you take five."
The team looked to Peter, "Go ahead, guys. I think I could use this."
The team walked out trying to hide their worry and concern, the doors closed behind them and they heard a barrage of battle cries and metal creaking.
-
The team walked down the winding hallways of the Tricarriar, they had never seen the spider this way. Angry yes, but that fury was different. The doors opened in one of the meeting rooms to reveal a man in a red jumpsuit the swords on his back glinting in the light. "Hey~"
Deadpool lay on the table propped up by his left arm. The team was a bit excited to see him, it had been a little over a year since he left. They joked and laughed while catching up. Then the door opened and Peter walked in, the team wouldn't admit it but they were excited to introduce him to Deadpool. They didn't see the way he froze mid-step as he locked his eyes on Deadpool. Luke turned to him, "Hey Spidey, this is-"
"Wade Wilson."
The team froze, and you could hear a pin drop as Ava and Danny started to catch on, as Sam and Luke wore confused expressions. Ava decided to ask, maybe it wasn't what she was thinking. "So you know each other?"
Peter sighed, "You guys remember that ex I told you about?" So it was exactly what she was thinking. Luke's face pinched slightly, Ava was in a bit of shock, and Danny looked almost embarrassed and kinda devastated. Sam took a minute, and when he opened his mouth the others regretted not shutting it.
"OH, OH MY GOD, YOU AND WADE, HOLY SH-" Thankfully he was stopped by Luke before he said anything else.
"So, what's he doing here?" Peter turned to the team. The others looked at each other then at Deadpool.
Danny was a bit cautious, "he was our leader before you joined our team." Peter was quiet, Danny asked. "You didn't know?"
"No." Peter's tone had some bite to it, and Wade flipped off the table and towards one of the computers. Peter glared at Wade's back, "he forgot to mention that." Once Wade was done with the computer he turned to face Peter. He would've spoken if Peter hadn't interrupted him. "Can you guys give us a minute. I think Wade and I should talk."
The team quickly left the room, and when the door shut, they couldn't help themselves and pressed their ears against the metal door. They wanted to know what was going on, the kind of animosity Peter showed, and they wondered if they would need to step him.
-
Wade crossed his legs as he leaned back in the chair, forced nonchalance to mask his nerves. "Hey there Spider-bae, I know you don't like surprise visits but-"
"What are you doing here?" Peter was cold and calculated in his wording.
"What, I can't visit? I just wanted to see you." Wade rested his chin on his fist.
"Great you saw, now you can leave." Peter turned to the door and Wade's tone turned desperate.
"Wait, let's talk. We can grab tacos, or some coffee." Peter turned to him disgust evident even through the mask.
"Are you seriously asking me out?" Wade deflated a bit but didn't back down.
"Is that a yes?" Peter clenched his fists trying to quell his seething anger.
"I can't believe you." Wade realized he was losing this battle.
"Look I came to apologize. Can we just talk?" Wade didn't look confident, it was a strange sight.
"Then talk." Peter turned to him, he took off his mask, he wanted Wade to look him in the eyes when he made his excuse.
Wade's shoulders slumped. "I'm sorry about how I handled our relationship, I should've talked to you. Can you forgive me?"
Peter's tone was cold as ice, "No."
Wade looked confused, "But, I apologized."
That only made Peter's fury swell into a forest fire, "Are you serious? You expect me to just forgive you after everything?"
Wade at least looked guilty, but as guilty as he was he was also childish. "Well, at least I came back."
Peter's lips pulled back in a frown, "For once I thought you were actually gonna be responsible and take accountability."
"That's kinda boring." Wade flinched at Peter raising his voice.
"Yeah, I'll bet you think it is! Did you even know what that felt like?!" Peter was tearing up but he didn't care, he wanted Wade to see the consequences of what he did. "When my boyfriend walked out of my house while we were on our date and ghosted me, and all because I made the shity mistake of saying that I love- Ugh, it was the worst feeling and you just... You really just... You really know how to send a message in the worst fucking way. I didn't know if you were breaking up with me, or if you were dead. Whether or not you wanted to be with me or not, I still deserved an honest breakup."
Wade was quiet, all he could say was a meek, "I'm sorry."
"What are you actually doing here anyway?" Peter put back on his mask, he didn't want Wade to see his face anymore.
"Oh, OH, Fury put me on assignment to find an agent McGuffin. He stole a whole list of superheroes' identities so I'm gonna track him down and get it back. Hey, we should team up."
"Why would I ever team up with you?" Wade leaned back in his chair.
"Maybe, because Fury owes me a favor so I could just ask to be paired up with you on this one." Peter just sighed. It seemed inevitable.
"Fine, just let me tell the others." Peter presses a button to open the door.
-
Sam pressed his ear to the door, listening intently. "I still can't believe they were dating, I mean, how did we not know? Why didn't he tell us?"
Ava was also listening intently, "Did Peter just say that Deadpool ghosted him?"
"That sounds pretty messed up." Luke chimed in.
Danny being the voice of reason tried to get everyone away from the door, "Perhaps we shouldn't-"
Then the door opened and all four of them fell into the room. Luke fell on top of Sam pinning him down, Ava lost her balance and tried to grab Danny to stop herself from falling which only resulted in him falling on her. They collectively groaned as they all lay on the metallic floor.
"Hey guys," Peter's tone wasn't flippant or cold, he was used to their antics. "I guess you know."
Danny was the first to rise, "My apologies Spider, I know I shouldn't have."
Ava sprang up and hugged Peter, "If you wanna talk or bitch I'm here."
Luke rose from his spot on the floor making sure that Sam was OK. "Or if you just wanna hit something."
Sam dusted himself off, "If you need my awesome cooking skills, I suppose I won't mind."
Peter looked to be considering something, "Actually could you come with us Danny, we might need you."
Danny bowed his head slightly smiling, "It would be an honor."
-
The plane ride to their location had quickly turned sour, due to Wade's constant flirting. Danny had tried laughing it off at first, but it had gotten a bit uncomfortable when Peter snapped back. Peter didn't want to hear how Wade was 'gifted' his plane by Tony Stark. Peter knew better.
"Looks like we're here," Wade said, Peter felt relief until, "By the way, the plane is about to explode."
Peter and Danny's eyes widened, "WHAT?!"
Wade pushed for the ejector seat and all three of them were sent up and into the air, Peter felt himself starting to fall. He grabbed Danny by the hand and slung him onto his back, Danny wrapped his arms around Peter. One over his shoulder and the other to come under his other arm so he isn't accidentally choking Peter. Peter's web parachute was struck down as they plummeted towards the ground below. Peter shot another web catching them, a few inches from the ground they caught their breath. "Hey, guys how ya hanging?"
Wade stood unscathed by one of the trees, and Peter growled his aura twisting into barely contained fury. "What was that? We could've died!"
"Well, at least we didn't." Danny was a bit stunned by Wade's answer, he didn't recognize his leader at this moment.
"You really haven't changed have you, you're irresponsible, selfish, and impulsive." Peter was fuming the only reason his voice was low was because of the fact that they were on Taskmaster's island.
"Well, I'll take care of Tasky while you two sneak in and grab the stuff." Peter just rolled his eyes.
"Fine sounds like a plan. Iron Fist let's go." Peter ran through the tree line while Wade ran in, swords unsheathed.
Danny and Peter had finally made it to the control room, Peter grabbed the drive and did a full sweep of the computers and database to ensure it was gone. It felt a bit unusual that no guards had come to storm the room.
When they made their way outside they saw why, the ground was covered in blood. Flesh and inerds litter the ground limbs held to the torso by bones. Taskmaster was on the ground actively bleeding out with Wade on top of him. Wade looked up and waved like there weren't dead bodies strewn across the ground. Peter ran up and punched Wade in the jaw, enough to get him off of Taskmaster, Peter webbed his wounds so he wouldn't bleed out. Then Peter webbed Taskmaster to the ground to make sure he stayed there. Peter rose to his feet, turning to Wade with a newfound anger that neither Wade nor Danny had seen before. "WHAT THE FUCK!"
Wade rubbed his jaw, "Ow, what was that for?"
"WHAT WAS- YOU WERE GOING TO KILL HIM!" Peter was murderous. "The only reason we're here is to stop Agent McGuffin, and get the drive back!"
Then there was a laugh, a choked broken laugh from Taskmaster, "There is no Agent McGuffin."
Then the puzzle pieces started to click into place, how there was no Agent McGuffin in the SHIELD database or Taskmaster's. Danny walked over, in disbelief he just blurted out. "This isn't true, is it? Please say you wouldn't."
Wade simply shrugged, "It's nothing personal just business, I can even cut you fifty percent. After you give it to me so I can sell it." Danny's jaw dropped, he couldn't believe it, his old leader, teammate, and friend had just admitted to being willing to sell them out for money. He felt fire curl around his fists, Peter felt himself tense.
Danny's voice was a whisper, "How could-" that voice quickly rose to a thundering yell. "HOW COULD YOU? WE WERE YOUR FRIENDS, YOUR TEAMMATES! HOW COULD YOU SELL US OUT?"
Danny punched where Wade had just dodged, and cracks bloomed from his blow. Peter grabbed him from behind and shoved him to the ground, Wade didn't anticipate Peter sparing with Danny. Peter felt a burning fire deep in his soul. He spat that fire out at Wade, his voice was a venomous hiss as he spoke. "Do you know what's gonna happen to them, they'll be hunted down like animals. DO YOU WANT THAT TO HAPPEN?!"
Wade threw Peter off of him and ran past Danny with ease, Danny tried to stop him, but Wade was faster and more experienced. He was able to flip up and use him as a springboard. He ran over to a body and ripped a jet pack off of him, the other two tried to get to him but he used this jet pack to fly off. Wade didn't say anything he just looked down at Peter and Danny with a sorrowful look, he muttered a small. "I'm sorry."
-
Peter was just numb now, he was just lying on the floor of his room staring at the ceiling. Fury was, well, furious, at both Deadpool's betrayal and the fact that Taskmaster still managed to worm his way out of SHIELD. A soft knock on his door tore his eyes away from the ceiling. His aunt opened the door, "Hey, Peter, what's wrong?"
"Wade," Peter stated.
Aunt May's expression soured at the mention of Peter's ex-boyfriend. She breathed in and out, her expression softened. "Well, Danny's here if you wanna see him."
Usually, Peter would want to be alone but for some odd reason, he wanted to see Danny. "Sure."
Aunt May nodded and gently closed the door, and soon after the soft padded footsteps reached his door. Danny knocked softly, and once he got confirmation from Peter he walked in. "Hello, Peter, how are you doing?"
"Fine, I guess, why do you ask?" Danny raised an eyebrow.
"Because you're lying on the floor of your room." Peter simply shrugged.
"Wanna join?" Peter patted the space next to him, Danny contemplated for a moment, but eventually lay down next to Peter. "How about you?"
"What?" Danny was a bit taken aback.
"He was your friend and leader, how are you guys doing?" Peter looked Danny in the eye there was no judgment. With that revelation came guilt. "Sorry to leave you guys to deal with my mess."
"Peter, you shouldn't be apologizing for anything. None of this was your fault." Danny had a softness in his eyes, not pity, but understanding.
"I guess I'm just cursed." Peter let out a hollow chuckle. "Every time I put myself out there I just- it just never works out. I think what's worse is that I really did love him. Ugh... I just wish I could look into the future and see how it's gonna end so I'm at least prepared."
Danny grabbed Peter's hand by his side and gently squeezed, "You are not cursed."
"Pfft- yeah right," Peter said but didn't argue further. "You really think I'll find someone?"
Danny squeezed his hand again, "Yes, you will. There is a superstition called karma, 'the more good you put out into the world, the more good will find you' I believe that's how it works."
Peter squeezed Danny's hand in return, "Maybe I will find someone, but I don't know if I'm ready."
Danny stared into his eyes, his gaze unwavering. "Then take your time, there's no need to rush life."
Peter stared back, a softness to it. "Would you wait for me?"
Danny was a bit stunned, but despite the growing blush he still nodded. "Of course."
Peter smiled, then he got this look of realization on his face. Danny was about to ask what Peter was thinking about, but didn't get the chance as Peter blurted out, "I think I have a thing for blondes."
Danny burst into laughter right then and there, he couldn't help it. It was such an unhinged thing to say after a love confession. The two just basked in the warm and sweet atmosphere, one day things would be better.
