Honestly? I don't know!

Split brain is one of those things I'm fascinated by, but it's hard to figure out to what extent the separate sides are truly separate conscious agents, and have their own senses of self.

On one hand, each side has its own perception separate from the other and can act without the other being aware. On the other, each side still functions as the same person. Each side still seemingly identifies as the same person, despite this divide in knowledge.

I suppose I'm of two mind on this.

Today I want to talk about toxic productivity and mental health when it comes to study - this blog has forced me to post everyday which is fine except I put this extreme pressure on myself to bring something to the table everytime and it’s impossible when I have constant fatigue due to my mental health.

Lockdown has made me stay in bed all the time, I’m doing my 3 hour lessons in bed and it needs to change. I need to start doing more self care and chores around the house, I need to exercise in a fun way.

Today I had psychology and it was fascinating, I love bio psychology as it is but I spent another 2 hours on top of the three we spent learning just researching split brain syndrome, corpus callostomy and epilepsy. If you are stuck for things to research - look into it all it’s so so interesting!

Split Brain Does Not Lead to Split Consciousness

A new research study contradicts the established view that so-called split-brain patients have a split consciousness. Instead, the researchers behind the study, led by UvA psychologist Yair Pinto, have found strong evidence showing that despite being characterised by little to no communication between the right and left brain hemispheres, split brain does not cause two independent conscious perceivers in one brain.
