Dean: *rings even though he won't pick up just to hear his voice in his voicemail*

Dean: *checks police reports for weird happenings surrounding a trenchcoat*

Dean: *sulkily cleans his beloved kills everything gun*

Dean: *pouts some more*

Sam: *prepares his 'Cas will come back' speech* Look, Dean...

So, in season 12, is Dean has been more worried about Cas and not being able to get a hold of him. So in S12x18, you can tell he’s getting edgy after leaving another voicemail for Cas. He starts hyper fixating on cleaning His guns, and you can see it on his face that he stressed.

Maybe I’m reaching here, but another thing that I found interesting is a long stretch of not hooking up with anyone (I believe the last time was when he got zapped with the memory spell in “Regarding Dean”, and that was a while ago). Then all of a sudden he decides to hook up with a waitress while he’s on a case, right after failing to contact Cas.

We know Dean throws himself into his vices when he’s stressed and I think he’s throwing himself into a one night stand because he’s trying not to freak out about Cas.

Then, the next day, he keeps saying how awesome it was. Several times. Who is he trying to convince? Sam or himself?

Edit to add: It reminds me of all the “awesomes” that were being thrown around between Dean and Cas when they were talking about April (demon who Cas lost his virginity to). Again, who were they trying to convince?

On the flipside, this does sort of imply that Cas ignoring Dean is not the default at this point in their relationship. It's only been a couple of days, but it's the thing that gets Dean's spidey sense tingling.
