I am curious how prepared is tumblr for real ID compliance
How prepared are you for real ID compliance (goes into effect May 7th after that no domestic flights unless you have a passport or Real ID compliant ID)
I’m just like Dorian Gray in that I have this ugly ass picture of me and it haunts me where ever I go and people have to see it to comprehend my (transgender) sins. the only difference really is my picture is really small and I keep it in my wallet. also it cost $35 and it helps me get on a domestic fight
Hawaii has joined a wave of states across the country that are giving nonbinary individuals more gender options on state-issued IDs.
Gov. David Ige signed House Bill 1165 into law on Wednesday. It adds a new gender option beyond “male” and “female” on application forms for driver’s licenses and state IDs.
Ige signed the bill along with two other pieces of legislation that focus on LGBTQ rights.
Starting July 1, 2020, Hawaii residents will see a third gender option, “X,” on these forms. The legislation aims to reduce discrimination against nonbinary individuals who do not identify exclusively as male or female.
The new law also notes that individuals who opt for “X” will not have to provide any documentation to prove their gender.
Khara Jabola-Carolus, executive director of the Hawai’i State Commission on the Status of Women, said the new law falls in line with gender inclusivity that was inherent for Native Hawaiians.
“This wasn’t just about simple recognition of transgender folks by the mainstream,” Jabola-Carolus said in an Instagram post. “It was about [the] decolonization of the status of gender minorities and women, and taking a step to honor the inclusive society of Native Hawaiians.”

I need to get my state ID, ideally before open enrollment is over, so for the next 48-ish hours (until I guess around 1am on the 22nd of November) I'll be doing readings for the price of one coffee over at buymeacoff.ee/ArchCreate
No set number of cards, for these readings I'll pull however many it takes to fully answer your question.
Laws passed to prevent terrorism and identity theft have made it harder to get the state-issued ID needed to escape poverty. A peek inside the poverty trap.
Everything that proves Chartez Tucker exists fits in a plastic grocery bag.
There’s a wadded-up photocopy of his expired Michigan identification card. Some pieces of mail that look like they’ve been through the wash. A few pieces of this-and-that to try to authenticate his 45 years on Earth.
“Right now, he’s a John Doe. A nobody,” says his sister, Jacqueline Tucker.
Her brother cuts her off.
“I am somebody!” he says. “I just can’t prove it.”
The two were recently at a social services agency on Detroit’s east side to begin the process of acquiring a state ID so he can get an apartment. But the process can take six months and unfold through a series of fits, starts and bureaucratic walls that reveals the everyday hassle of being poor.
For Tucker, it means bus trips, long waits in government offices and cobbling together money for copies of his birth certificate, academic and other records. He lost his ID with his wallet four years ago. When he talked to Bridge last month, Tucker had been to the Social Security office four times without luck.
“They make it so hard,” said Tucker, who lives with his mother, doesn’t work and suffers from seizures.
