You get your gear ready, you get your food ready. You decide what exactly to tune, clean, and you focus on the win. The harvest. The ultimate goal. What you cannot prepare for, are the road blocks, the detours that have no planning and the fact that you can not control them. You don’t get to decide which pitch will be tossed your way. Curve ball? Maybe a slider? Could it be the ever elusive “change up” that’s nearly impossible to predict? Instead we stay “ proactive” rather than “reactive” in order to acclimate with the shift that will catch most off guard. We prepare our minds to roll with the tide so we don’t allow it to consume us. This picture, for me, is a reminder that no matter what the wall is or how big that mountain may seem, keep hope and stay focused on the end game. The goal. Because if you allow yourself to stray from that goal you will NEVER ACHIEVE IT! This was Courtney’s first time back in the woods to hunt since her first of 4 major surgeries that started the day after Christmas. I will also add, this is all happening months before it’s due date. She is in her tree stand 32’ up. It’s a difficult climb to get up there for the best of us and it took her a while to navigate it yesterday.
