#steam blocking

Up early steam blocking done acrylic crochet granny squares for a tote bag/gift bag I'm making for a friend! Really loving the colors: they're even more stunning IRL!

It’ll block out, right?

So, as I frequently complain, I suck at crochet. As far as I can tell, my stitches are too short. Things I work from the centre out don’t lie flat, and they have ripples rather than just being a bowl.

Now, I know that this is not something that will block out. HOWEVER, the hexagons I’m making now will lie flat, it’s just that they tend to pop into a more 3-D shape with very little provocation. Will giving them a blast of steam (100% acrylic) help at all? Or should I rely on the fact that any baby blanket that sees much use will spend most of its time non-flat to begin with? (I’m sewing these together, it’s not a large centre-out hexagon.)

This beauty was a commission for an old friend of mines. It took almost 3 days to make. This was the very first time I made a blanket this big. I wish I could tell you how big it is buuuuut I forgot to measure it 😂
