If you know me irl you probably know about this beast of a project I took on in May of ‘25. Prior to this I had only knitted a pair of socks and half a scarf. I’m about to enter it in a small town festival craft fair next week so wish her luck!

Only took a full year to make this guy! Between having to wait on backstocked yellow, a distinct lack of summer knitting mojo, and having some fit issues with the arm shaping, it took a hot minute

The casulties of me going willy nilly with my arm shaping and not doing enough decreases quick enough. I had to cut off all of my original steeking stitches but it was honestly holding together better than I thought without them. I always do crochet reinforcing and it's worked out well for me thus far

I'm not a huge fan of bottom-up anyway because it's harder to get the fit right, but this steeking the arms and neck opening thing is crazy!

Anyway please enjoy my very 70s current WIP and see how brave I was cutting open the first armhole

Yarns are a mix of alpaca and wool in fingering weight held double for DK and the pattern is the Fall Sweater by Courtney Kelley

I finished the scariest thing a knitter can do: a steeked cardigan! It's sooooo cozy, I keep wearing it around the house. The pattern is the Moorland Cardigan and the yarn is Caraz, Peruvian wool and alpaca. Soooo snuggly!

Steeking question guys! I'm done with the body of my sweater and need to steek/cut the armholes. I left some steeking stitches to secure the edge with crochet. After crocheting those two lines per armhole, I'm gonna cut between those crochet "rows", right?

But to get an actual armhole, I'd need to simultaneously cut through the floats of my second color, right? Because the second color was still needed after knitting over the steeking stitches. At the same time, the crochet "rows" cannot secure the floats, because I don't use the floats as part of where the crochet stitches are started, if you know what I mean.

So I'm confused, please help

My current project is the only one I am currently working on, and it is going to be a long one - a big cosy cardigan for myself!

Originally, I was going to knit it flat, but I hate doing lots of purls, so I changed it to knitting in the round, which I will then steek.

Usually when I steek something, I will stabilise the stitches using crochet but this will be a long cardigan and I wanted an easier way to do this, and I realised that needle felting it would be a neat way to achieve this. I did do a small practice before committing to it, and i was happy with the outcome, so I am needle felting this as I go!

You can just about see the line (indicated by my finger) where the felting has been done
