🌺Happy (official) 20th anniversary, Lilo & Stitch!🥳
Twenty years ago today, Disney released Lilo & Stitch to theaters. Filled with strange yet lovable characters, it became one of Disney's most unique and beloved animated films and started a successful franchise that has seen three animated sequels, three different animated TV series, and several other spin-off media.
To kick off this special 20th Anniversary Stitch Week, I would like to share the full cover of our upcoming 20th anniversary fanzine, which we will release on June 26th, a.k.a. Stitch Day! This cover is inspired by the original home media (VHS and DVD) cover for the original film. Hang loose, 'ohana! 🏄🤙
We also have a logoless version of the cover for you to appreciate.
Thank you, Lilo & Stitch, for twenty years of 'ohana! 🌺👽
Credits to D Barenzu, @salty-nebula, @angoraram, Mr. Niffler, NexaFerret, and Strayvaa for the cover.
Today is the twentieth anniversary of Lilo & Stitch. 🌺👽
The original Disney animated film that started it all premiered at the Disney-owned El Capitan Theatre on June 16, 2002, where Disney fans first saw the funny, silly, charming, and heartwarming tale of the unlikely duo of a lonely little Hawaiian girl and a blue alien genetic experiment on the lam whom she adopts as her "dog". The film would go on to have its wide release across the United States five days later and would spawn a substantial franchise in the years since.
To honor this occasion, here are some pictures from the Lilo & Stitch premiere. (Images come from Lilo & Stitch Source [fr], WSB-TV of Cox Media Group, and mabroselvisworld.com [de].) Also, check out these lower-resolution images of the premiere from LaughingPlace.com (Wayback Machine link).
Oh, yes, I'm still going to keep this tradition I established going. The genetic experiments are one of the many unique things of the Lilo & Stitch franchise, and they've been around since the very beginning. Experiments like Chopsuey (X-621) from the PlayStation 2 prequel game, the early version of Reuben (X-625) from the Disney Adventures prequel comics, or... you know, Stitch (X-626) himself.
Here are some fan art of the genetic experiments made in the past year!
Yaarp by @kiwibon – As if the little blowhorn wasn't already cute and fluffy enough, here his cuter and fluffier than ever before!

That's it for this one. There's still plenty more days left this Stitch Week!
Twenty years of mischief, twenty years of 'ohana, and twenty years of this little blue cute and fluffy mutant koala. 🎉

Stitch Day doesn't end here, though. At 6:26 PM EDT, we will finally release the special 20th Anniversary fanzine that my 'ohana of fans and I have been working on. Keep an eye out on the Carrd site by that time when we publish it. Mahalo for your patience! 🌺👽

2022 marks the twentieth anniversary of the forty-second Disney animated film Lilo & Stitch and the beginning of one of Disney's most unusual yet beloved franchises.
When the original film written and directed by Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois and its story about an eccentric little orphaned Hawaiian girl who adopts a mischievous blue alien lifeform as her "dog" was released in theaters in June 2002, audiences were won over by this off-kilter film's wacky humor juxtaposed with a realistic, intimate, and surprisingly relatable story about how these two strange individuals came together and find a family with one another.
From the surprise success of that film, The Walt Disney Company turned it into their most successful animated film-based franchise from the 2000s, with three sequel movies and a sequel cartoon series that were released within four years after the first film's release, along with several other spin-offs including a Japanese anime series, a Chinese animated series, an alternate universe Japanese manga, video games, and even theme park attractions throughout the years. And through all these years, the lovable alien Stitch became one of Disney's most popular animated characters, while much of the franchise's cast have been beloved for their many charming quirks, including the many unique designs of the genetic experiments.

So, to celebrate this milestone, several Lilo & Stitch fans are coming together to create a special fanzine planned for publishing this June with fan art, fanfics, and more! And we want you to join us for this special project. Keep reading this post for details.
Right now, we are looking for fans who are willing to contribute artwork and/or writings to this project. These include:
A collaborative cover for the zine inspired by the original home media (VHS and DVD) cover of the film.
Short comics (one to two pages) based on a simple premise established by the zine's organizers.
Written proses including new stories written for the collection and excerpts from pre-existing fanworks.
Fan art and illustrations based on the franchise made for the zine.
Original/fan character biographies. (Because we all like to have fun and be part of this world!)
And personal written excerpts of what Lilo & Stitch and its message of ‘ohana mean to us fans.
(Artwork by @angoraram)
Further details, including schedules, will be sorted out in a Discord server. If you are interested in joining this project and the server, please send me or one of my cohorts a message on wherever social media platform you wish to use (here on Tumblr, or over on DeviantArt, Instagram, and Twitter) and we will send you an invite link to the server.

Though the main highlight of Stitch Week has passed, it's not over yet. Stitch's more powerful immediate successor gets his time to shine with some fan art today. EVIL!
Happy 627 Day by m_ssk626 – He lookin' handsome in that Aloha shirt!
Experiment 627 by Hinataboko – His greeting's more sinister than Stitch's!
that’s not a forehead, that’s a fivehead by @psychedelic-lemur – Evil and silly!
Humanized Experiment 627 by MiniMidiMici (part of Humanized Experiments Batch 2) – Well, uh, if you've ever wondered what a human with six arms would look like, then here's your answer. Like the EVIL-labeled underwear elastic, though.
Grand Celebration 627 by kurage0404 – That vest not tight enough for you, 627?
That's all for 627 Day! He does not get as much fan art as the previous three experiments, but at least some fans are there for him! Tomorrow, I might have something in mind for the day of a particular unseen experiment. Stay tuned for that one!
