Because it's all about balance. 80/20. Mostly clean. Cheat meals. However you want to put it into words, a healthy lifestyle has to be balanced. Being too strict, leaving out food groups (unless medically necessary) is just too hard to keep up with long term. Your body needs fuel. It needs some carbs, it needs some fats, it even needs some sugars. But it's all about balance. A healthy lifestyle is soooo doable. Even if fitness isn't your thing, I've got options for you. I eat a lot of "pasta"! 😅 Whenever I eat a big bowl of pasta, I always pair it with 1 romaine heart (sometimes a salad if I'm really hungry) to add more greens into my diet! Romaine is the best choice for lettuce to add in easy nutrients! The darker the greens the better! I just scoop my pasta into the lettuce cups, snap the crunchy end off, and make a sandwich, and enjoy! 🙏💕 #organic #healthy #fit #gethealthy #dinner #pasta #rice #ricepasta #lettuce #greens #eatrealfood #fuckcalorierestriction #vegan #vegeterian #stopcountingcalories #carbthefuckup #hclf #lifestylechange
All of a sudden, I stopped.
It came out of no where. I just all of a sudden stopped counting calories. I honestly never thought there would come a time where I would stop counting. I always had this calculator in my head, I knew most food's calories without having to look it up so I just kept a running tally in my head as I ate, and if I didn't know the calories of what I was eating I'd just guess. Counting was second nature, automatic Until it wasn't anymore. Two weekends ago I was pretty busy, was eating foods consecutively that I didn't know the calories of, drinking drinks I didn't know the calories of. I was just living like a regular person, and I didn't think to count. And then once I didn't count over the weekend, I didn't count for the days in the following week. And then i just stopped thinking about counting. Now I just don't count at all. To be honest, when I counted, though I'd be hitting minimums, it never allowed me to eat what I truly wanted. Now that calories are not a thought, I can choose at my will. This is freedom. I never thought I could feel so free.
Punched in what I ate today...
I gave up calorie counting a year and 1 month ago. It did not work and it just drove me nuts because of all the little foods I had to meticulously enter... and that wasn't fun doing it everyday. every meal. every freaking time. No. Not. Fun.
Actually... The calorie calculator I used was Fatsecret, and I remember I really liked how it can track all the carbs from each food items you ate. For a time, that's the main reason why I tallied my calories. And then it just got to a point I didn't need it and I was just tired... blah blah blah.
So Anyway.. I'm still WIDE AWAKE at 5am... and I've done plenty today. I ate. I freaking RAN 4 miles in 45 minutes. Like a BAUS. And if that wasn't enough, I got bored and played an hour and half of Dance Central 2 at 1am. Finished, and showered (again), and it was 3am. That was 2 hours ago. Yes. I am crazy.
SPEAKING of my run... HERE'S MY FREAKING AWESOME LINK! I use RunKeeper to track the thing.
So BACK to the whole calorie counting thing... So I got bored and wondered into Fatsecret. And being BORED as I was.. I punched in what I ate today. Here's the Link to that: RIGHT HERE YO!
And if you're lazy to click... Here are the numbers:
Calories Eaten: ~1626 calories
Calories Burned: ~2645 calories
Calories Ratio: 5% carbs/69% fat/ 26% protein
And it kind of proves (although this is just 1 spontaneous random entry) that eating (very) low carb becomes embedded in your head that it just becomes intuitive. Like Instinct. Second nature. Whatever.
So while I'm still against counting calories to lose weight, logging it for fun is okay once in a while to check how on or off course you are. Plus, reviewing the foods on your list periodically and spotting where you need work is easier if you don't log everyday. Like me: I need to find a more sources of clean fat so I don't just glob a ton of mayonnaise on my food. Delicious yes. But, I need to give other foods a chance.
Ugga Bugga Wugga.
LALALA. Someone save me. I still have tons of energy. -_-. I need sleeeeeeep.
