Happy 32nd anniversary to The Nightmare Before Christmas!!
LAIKA's 20th anniversary!!! Plans for the future;
Read all about it!!!
Our favorite animation studio has big plans going forward!! after celebrating 2 whole decades of groundbreaking stop motion animation, LAIKA reveals sneak peaks (and by that we mean simple one-sentence descriptors) of future films, as well as what's been on everyone's minds: YES, We're getting another Wildwood teaser with this Halloween's re-release of ParaNorman, AND a 4K home media release of Missing Link!!!!!!!! That's not all, LAIKA's website just got a huge fantastical facelift! And remember, this is just the beginning of another awesome chapter!!!
some more stop motion practice with nettle !
LOUIS IS DONE!
your work is amazing! have you ever made puppets for stop motion animation?
Thank you so much!! Yes I have actually - I am a puppet maker at Aardman, and have worked there for over 8 years now:) My credits include Early Man, Shaun the Sheep: Farmageddon, Chicken Run 2 (dawn of the nugget), and currently working on the new Wallace & Gromit film:)
Here's a puppet I sculpted, moulded, cast, and painted for Early Man, back in 2017.
I also did a lot of work on all the main chickens in Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, specifically on Rocky, Ginger. Mac, Babs, and Fowler.
My first attempt at lipsync on the puppet! Very different workflow and animation style compared to what I do at work. There are parts here that I wish were smoother but overall I’m happy with this as a first go.
Quick (hours... but in terms of animation, pretty quick) charcoal animation. Pretty happy with how this turned out. Thinking my phone is not going to be a good capture device in the long term judging by these faint ghost circles I'm getting in photos. Frustrating, but at least I animated something. Two years out of animation school and trying to find my love for it again.
