Prints for Ukraine! All proceeds from prints of this new watercolor painting of Veselka will go to hospitals in the Ukraine. Art prints available via the link in bio or https://etsy.me/3JfTdg6
I was thinking of what I could do to help support Ukraine, and decided to make a painting of Veselka--the East Village's renowned Ukrainian restaurant. I also love that the word "veselka" means "rainbow" in Ukrainian. Then, I was in touch with Veselka about wanting to support Ukraine with print sales, and they recommended choosing a vetted charity via Razon for Ukraine to find one that resonates.
Painting: "Veselka", Watercolor and pencil on paper, 9"x12", 2022.
Thanks, Nick
3.16.22 Lunchtime drawing: Arka is a Ukrainian gift shop in the East Village on E 2nd St. just off 1st Ave. -- which I first learned about from the illustrations Julia Rothman made of it for the NY Times.
Also, I want to extend a huge thank you for the overwhelmingly positive response to the prints of Veselka where I'm donating the proceeds to Ukrainian hospitals -- we've raised over $500 so far!
10.1.21 Lunchtime drawing: Wing on Wo & Co on Mott Street since 1925, it's the oldest continuously operating store in Manhattan’s Chinatown and is a five-generation-long family business selling porcelain ware and cultural goods.
12.30.21 Lunchtime drawing: ABC Cleaners in the West Village, a coin-op laundromat with a few potted plants growing by the windows that just make me happy.
10.24.22 Lunchtime drawing: M&J Navy Yard Sub Shoppe on Flushing Ave, across the street from, you guessed it, the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
2.28.22 Earlier than lunchtime drawing: Another classic West Village corner, Christopher St. at Seventh Ave. I even got in the Hess Triangle! Painted on the way to the Hudson Park Library to pack up my art show there.
Also, I jumped the gun and dated this work "3.1.22", perhaps I'm ready for March?!
