They did the complete opposite and subverted tropes.

Instead of dangling a homoerotic relationship between Xena and Gabrielle only for them to end up with men, they had them with men only to end up with each other.

They had absolutely no interest in keeping men around.

Except Joxer. But even he was eventually killed off after performing a heroic act of self-sacrifice for Gabrielle.

And Ares… well Ares remained The God Of War and therefore was never going to be good for and to Xena.

But Perdicas. Marcus. Borias. All bury’d your straights.

They didn’t want it. Didn’t want any heteronormative narrative at all. They only wanted Xena and Gabrielle.

So Xena and Gabrielle is what you got at endgame.

oomf pointed out that it's really interesting that there are no solo Byler scenes in the teaser even though they spend s5 together, what are they hiding? they literally showed Max with Lucas even though she's in a coma but they can't show scenes of two lifelong best friends? we know they're best friends but for some reasons they're hiding their scenes.. (because they love each other and they're gonna get together)

also they didn't put any scenes from episode 7 which is.. interesting, M: Mike, W: Will, 705: s5 episode 7, these boxers were there during the Jopper first kiss, I think Byler's first kiss will be in episode 7

Also no Rovickie scenes in the two teasers either even tho it's obvious they'll get together

also elmike and stobin have parallels, Steve confessed to Robin and she came out as a lesbian, El confessed and kissed Mike and Mike realized he's gay, Gaten said that music completes the scenes and they played the same song in Robin's coming out and the scene where El kissed Mike and he didn't kiss her back and kept his eyes open

The reason the straightbaiting is the funniest is because they have never done this in previous seasons. The previous season trailers were all normal as hell like there was not this much Mlvn content XD

I'm gonna be so fr, the only reason I haven't been cheering for the death of Steve Harrington is because I'm scared of what it would do to Dustin. But it's getting to the point where I'm thinking...

He has a pretty decent support system. He'll figure it out.

It's harsh, but i think it would be hilarious if the Duffers buried their straights. It would be so satisfying to see all the homophobes crash out over the character THEY were invested in being killed. I expect it would hurt about as bad as following a straight relationship for 10 years only to have it not be canon in favor of a gay relationship.

Straightbaiting is cool.

Burying your straights is even cooler.
