swamp gothic

there is an area 20 or so minutes from the gates to the swamp where the birds stop yelling, the cicadas are silent and the phones dont work

you like sitting on a small old foot bridge that goes over a dried up part of the swamp. you often hear whistling from beside you, even on windless days. you dont know nor remember the tune.

youve lost so much time to the swamp. youve walked for what felt like 10 minutes but was really 2 hours. you once set a timer for 1 hour, it went off after 3.

one time while exploring the forest beside the swamp you found the foundations of an old church. they looked like they could be as old as time. but they also didn’t. they were obviously new despite the thick layer of moss over the stones.
