TW: Nightmare, blood loss, head injury
Let me know if you want to be put on a tag list!
"How are you feeling?" August sat next to Morgan's bed, holding a grocery sack.
"No, you feel fine. Eventually, you'll be fine, but right now, if you stand up, you will pass out.
Morgan looked down. "Where did you go..?"
"I brought you food." August pulled a takeout box out of the bag. "It's high in iron. You need to eat it. I also got you juice and Gatorade."
Morgan took the box. "... Why?"
"Because when you lose blood, you lose fluids, and since I don't have an I.V., you're going to need to drink a lot." August rolled his eyes.
"No, I mean why are you doing this? Why not just let someone else deal with me?"
August handed Morgan an orange juice bottle and stood up. "Eat your food. Drink the juice. Take a nap. I'll be back to check on you." He set a Gatorade bottle on the nightstand. "Drink that too if you can." He started to walk out, but paused in the doorway. "And do not call someone else to 'deal with you'."
August went to a park. He went there often during this time of day. It was always empty. He sat under a tree, leaning back against it and closing his eyes.
August sighed, letting his shoulders relax. "I've seen too many people die..." He muttered to himself. "I won't let it happen again."
"Hey." August knocked on Morgan's bedroom door and came in when there was no response.
Morgan was sleeping, but their face was twisted and they were tense, twitching occasionally.
Sighing, August put down the second grocery sack. "Wake up." He nudged Morgan's shoulder.
Morgan flinched and whimpered, but didn't wake.
August sat on the edge of the bed. "Hey. You having a nightmare?" He layed a hand on their shoulder. "Come on. It's alright, let's wake up." He shook Morgan a little harder.
Morgan jolted awake with a gasp, sitting up. Catching sight of August, they screamed, falling out of the bed in their scramble to get away. There was a thud as Morgan hit their head on the nightstand. "A-ah!" Morgan curled in on themself, hands guarding their head.
August looked over the side of the bed at Morgan.
"Wh-what..." Morgan winced, tears of pain forming in their eyes as they peered up at August. "What are you doing in my bed..?" Morgan tried to get up.
"Stay down." August ordered, moving to the other side of the bed. "Let me help you."
Morgan tensed, shrinking back from August. "I-I can get up on my own."
"Oh really." August said, tone dripping with sarcasm.
The tears lingering in Morgan's eyes started to fall. They sniffled and gingerly touched their head. "You're... really mean." They brushed the tears off their cheeks and pulled their knees up to their chest.
August knelt on the ground next to Morgan. "Hey."
"What?" August sat back on his heels.
"I-I said I'd like you to leave my hou-house... please."
August stared at Morgan for a moment, then stood. "Fine."
Morgan looked up at him, uncertain. "R... really? Just like that?"
August rolled his eyes with an apathetic shrug. "Do what you want. It's your life that's in danger. Just do me a favor and call someone else to help you after I'm gone."
