Indian Sport Psychologists’ Association (INSPA) organised Mind The Gap 2024, the first Sports Psychologists' conference in India.

International Institute of Sports & Management (IISM) is the venue partner for the two-day conference on 15th March 2024 and 16th March 2024.

IISM's students played an important role in the proceedings of the conference by being the backbone looking after the backend of the conference.

The conference was surely a great learning experience for our students as the insightful sessions and power packed workshops along with informative presentations will give them a upper-hand in their careers.

The second day of the conference begun with a workshop, 'From Insight to Enterprise: Mastering the Sport Psychology Consultation Process Practice' conducted by Mr. Amit Gadkari & Ms. Varadayini Gorhe

The guests for the second panel discussion of 'Mindful Partnerships: Unveiling the Role of Stakeholders in Sports and the Crucial Impact of Mental Health on Athlete Support' were Mr. Deepthi Bopaiah, Ms. Chaitanya Sridhar, Mr. Shiva Keshavan & Mr. G. Rajaram. Ms. Sanika Divekar helmed the panel.

Boria Mazumdar was the keynote addressee for the day. The guests for the third panel discussion were Mr. Ramji Srinivasan, Ms. Shiny Surendran, Ms. Janki Deole & Ms. Harini Murali. The panel was conducted by Ms. Varadayini Gorhe.

The afternoon session begun with a workshop on 'Ethics Unveiled: Navigating the Approval Process for Sport Psychology Research in India' by Ms. Neeta Tatke.

The conference proceeded with oral presentations and scoping review by the INSPA team.

The powerpacked day concluded with a prize distribution on a positive note.

This semester has been the busiest one yet. Between classes, greek life, social life, and all of my other lives, I sometimes wonder how I've been able to keep up. In the words of Frank Sinatra, from the song “My Way”, “Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew When I bit off more than I could chew”. However, I wouldn’t be me if I did things any other way. In addition to all that I have going on, one of my best friends and I started a chapter of Her Campus at Georgia Tech (yessss, if you’re looking to write or join the e-board, contact hcatgatech on IG). Her Campus is the number one media site for college women, by college women. We bring the realest information from relationships to health to news. It has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made at Tech (probably next to studying abroad). The story to how it all started is even funnier.

We were catfished. Long story short, someone got into one of the GT groupme pages and expressed that she was starting a chapter of her campus but, after several missed meetings and phone conferences, something did not seem quite right. After about 5 of us began super sleuthing, we discovered that this girl wasn’t who she claimed to be. So, my friend and I started the tedious process of creating the chapter ourselves. Needless to say, a long month later, here we are!

Our chapter launched on January 21st. Since our launch, we’ve had our e-board retreat, first meeting, two rounds of articles published, and lots of social media posts introducing our members. In the future, we hope to have a couple of events and tabling. All things considered, I think we’re off to a great start. I’m so excited to have a group for all women where we can discuss issues that pertain to us. I’m also enthused about the fact that it’s a diverse group of women. I think that it will make our content better by being able to speak on the issues concerning women from different backgrounds.

I am pleased to be a part of something that I deem amazing, and to be able to leave my mark on Tech before leaving this great place. I can’t wait to see how much the chapter grows and what all we get to accomplish this semester. Stay tuned and look for us around campus!

PA Student Power Network

Student activism is on the rise on college campuses across Pennsylvania. An organization called the Pennsylvania Student Power Network (PSPN) has been making waves at rallies, the office of politicians, and other such protests. Students from PA state schools, state related universities and community colleges have been standing together in solidarity to advocate for social justice.

Within the last two years, PSPN has been growing across the country with chapters in Ohio, Florida, Illinois, Virginia, North Carolina, Texas, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. There are at least a dozen other states who are creating or rebuilding a network.

Kutztown University, however, still lacks a chapter. Though there are a couple of progressive student groups on campus such as The Black Student Union, Social Workers and Advocates of Kutztown, and many more, there is little unity between the groups. PSPN is a driving force behind creating solidarity amongst students regardless of group affiliation, race, gender, or religion.

PSPN member and Kutztown University student Cynthia Diaz has stepped up on her own to establish a chapter for the university. “There isn’t an official chapter here.” says Diaz. “I’m the one starting it up here. Some have shown interest. I’ve done a couple of class raps to get pledges.”

Diaz has also cited college affordability to be a main concern for the group at the moment. “The top problem is free and accessible college education. Everyone should have access to education regardless of criminal status or marital status.” Diaz says. The PA Promise is offering solutions to the problem. However, PSPN would like to see a different approach to affordable college and who it includes.

Members of PSPN met with PA Senator Jordan A. Harris who signed a pledge to support affordable education. According to Diaz,  Harris has proposed a cut on the prison budget, which according to Harris costs $40,000 annually. This would include house arrest instead of jail time for nonviolent and minor offenses with daily check ups. This would only cost $14,000 according to Harris.

Having a chapter on campus would certainly spread awareness about social injustices while promoting political awareness. “ A lot of students don’t know that a lot of officials that represent them have a lot of power over them.” Diaz says. “PSPN is a way for students to take control of issues that affect them and promote change.”

In the past year, Kutztown University has faced unsolicited religious protesters and alt-right propaganda posters on campus. PSPN is offering a chance to unify all students under one important message: Hate has no home here.
