How Should I study for IB? (Summer Edition)
Hey guys I just finished IB and got what I think are rather decent scores, so I thought it might be nice to do this series on how to study for IB during the summer to be productive without overworking yourself. This is part 3, so if you find this helpful maybe you can help me out and check out the other 2 parts?
So here’s a couple ideas of what you can do in the summer:
Go over old chapters! Honestly things make so much more sense when you go back, for example I didn’t understand the trends in chapter 3 until I did chapter 4.
watch a bit of MSJ chem, who is a wonderful man and I owe my 7 to him
start explaining some scientific concepts to your parents/ friends, for example talk about redox reactions in alcohol breathalysers (look it up if you don’t know what I mean, it’s cool af)
write down some ideas for your IA, for example when you’re in the grocery store look at some of the claims of food and thing if you could perhaps test that for an IA
do online versions of all your mandatory labs (super important for paper 3)
Make up a science board game, where to move to your next destination you need to explain a specific concept that you pick out of a stack of cards. This is super specific but we did it and it was a rather fun way to pass the time
If you have a close group of friends doing chem, organise a night in and give everyone 1 chapter to make a kahoot quiz on. Do the kahoot and count up the points and organise a prize for the winner! (or if your friends are lazy, do a quiz night and make the quizzes yourself and get your friends to do the quizzes)
similar to before, but if you don’t like kahoot, chemistry trivia night!!! (I love it, and yes I’m a bit of chemistry nerd)
Start mind mapping, but instead of chapter mind maps, try to connect concepts from one chapter to that of another (this is like 80% of chem papers I find)
