Ingredients 1 (16-ounce) bag fresh cranberries, washed and drained 2 cups granulated sugar 2 cups water 3/4 cup light brown sugar 1 tablespoon maple syrup Instructions Prepare the Cranberries Wash and sort the cranberries, discarding any damaged ones. Set aside to drain thoroughly. Create the Syrup In a medium saucepan, combine the granulated sugar and water. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, then remove from heat. Soak the Cranberries Add the cranberries to the sugar-water mixture. Ensure all the cranberries are submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 8 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to infuse. Strain and Dry After chilling, strain the cranberries. Reserve the sugar-water mixture for another use, such as a cocktail syrup or a glaze. Coat with Maple and Sugar On a large baking sheet, mix the brown sugar and maple syrup until evenly combined. Add the strained cranberries and gently toss to coat them thoroughly. Let Dry Spread the coated cranberries out in a single layer on the baking sheet. Allow them to air dry for about 1 hour, or until they are no longer sticky. Store and Serve Transfer the cranberries to an airtight container or resealable plastic bag. Store in a cool, dry place for up to one week. Enjoy these sugared cranberries as a snack, or use them to garnish cakes, pies, or cocktails for a stunning finish.
