Here are some more of these
Yesterday I was complaining about how tiny Shimura’s fanart is, and today I couldn’t help drawing a little short comic.
It’s very rough, but it’s a scene I’ve wanted to draw for a long time haha.
I really like seeing these three together.

I rewatched Death Note focusing on the japanese 1st person pronouns the characters use (because I'm an otaku and I find it interesting). I'm not an expert, so I'm mainly going to point out everyone's pronouns and add a little analysis/opinion based on what I know or read online about their usage. Some characters probably won't get explanations because I have nothing to say. Also: since this is a piece of fiction the pronouns can tell us more about someone's personality. Also: I can only analyze the formality of the pronouns not the rest of the speech, because I don't know japanese that well!
Warning: like half of this post is about Higuchi because he's funny to me. And I included all of Yotsuba, who are pretty minor characters.
The first thought that crosses Mido’s mind when she sees the rain-blurred newspaper headline is: Ah. Figures.
She’d known it wouldn’t be over, deep in her bones. They hadn’t said how Higuchi had died, which felt like proof enough, but even before that she’d known.
She takes the newspaper inside just in time for her phone to ring.
“Mido!” Shimura blurts on the other side as soon as she picks up. “Oh, thank god!”
“Good morning to you too,” Mido says, setting the newspaper down and entering the kitchen.
“You saw the news, right?”
“Yes.”
“God, how are you so calm,” Shimura mumbles. “I — we can’t talk about this on the phone.”
The Three Rs (Yotsuba Group Severance!AU)
“He’s been sitting there for the past hour and a half, give or take,” Mido informed Shimura as they came within sight of the water dispenser, and of the suited figure crouched in its shadow. “Is that normal?”
Shimura and Mido discuss the mental state of their new co-worker.
I love how much you love Higuchi! He needs wayyy more content (all the yotsuba group does)
Aw, I'm happy to hear that :^) Yotsubas are pretty niche but I like seeing stuff with them... Since it's on topic I'll share this drawing (I feel like it was cooler in my head so I never posted it)
We know Higuchi selected Takahashi for the meetings to make himself look better, but why do you think he picked all the others out of everyone in the company? (especially when he seems to dislike some of them)
great question!!! here are my opinions:
namikawa: higuchi thinks namikawa is sooooo fucking smart and actually values his opinion, even if he pretends he doesn't. this is because higuchi is tsundere, and also for many other reasons
ooi: someone has to take charge of the meetings, and higuchi would look super suspicious if he did it (and no one would listen to him). ooi is a natural leader and has good relationships with all or almost all of the other members, so he's an obvious choice. he's also intelligent, and it probably helps that higuchi doesn't seem to have any issues with him.
mido: again, higuchi thinks mido is smart and will have helpful insights. higuchi also seems to like mido the most of his colleagues.
shimura: namikawa theorizes that higuchi picked shimura for his attention to detail, and i'm inclined to agree. like with namikawa, though, higuchi pretends he doesn't care about what shimura says. this is because higuchi is a tsu--oh, also, i think it's possible that higuchi had a secondary motivation here. shimura, like takahashi, is on the low end of the yotsuba pecking order, so he can get away with bullying him a little bit.
kida: kida has a tendency to do the grunt work that no one else wants to do (dealing with coil, researching their victims), so it's nice to have him around as a pack mule. higuchi also thinks of him as one of his smarter colleagues.
hatori: this is the one i've always struggled with the most. i think the main reason is hatori's connection with the president; he makes a convenient middleman and/or bargaining chip if it were ever necessary. and again, hatori is pretty low in the pecking order, so he makes higuchi look better and is usable as a stress ball, if less so than takahashi.
oh, and one more thing: for namikawa and hatori in particular, higuchi has known them for a while, so he (thinks he) can more or less predict how they'll react to things. he feels a little more comfortable with two familiar faces around. i could imagine this applying to a few others, too--probably takahashi?
