An Apology For the Super Junior Masterpost

(Also just a little side note, I know people arent aware and I havent specified it on this blog, but please dont refer to me with she/her pronouns! Thank you~)

okay so Ive seen quite a few people get mad about the master post I made about super junior (some people have linked me to what others have said, other posts Ive seen floating around) and there is a lot of valid criticism being said, and some other stuff which seems to just be a misunderstanding. 

Ive privated the post because it was very poorly made and I acknowledge that, however, some of the criticism Im getting is from 1) people who havent actually read the post and 2) people who are refusing to acknowledge some of the things I did include in it. 

Ive said it before and I’ll say it again, that post wasnt made with the intent of hurting Super Junior or their fans, nor was it made for the purpose of bashing Super Junior. Some people are a bit skeptic of whether or not I actually like Super Junior, which I can understand, but I would like to clarify that I do. In fact, I really like them. Theyre one of my favorite groups and its kind of annoying to see people say that Im not a fan just because I made the post. I like most of the members included in that post, please dont try to make it out like I dont, because it perpetuates the idea that fans can’t criticise the things they love. I only made the post because Ive personally received asks about whether or not there is a Super Junior master post and whether specific members have done anything, and thought it’d be easy to compile a list, seeing as thats sorta what this blog is for. And yes I did make an exo masterpost, here’s a link. I also included a link to it at the top of the super junior post. To be honest, I wish Id made the suju post more like the exo one, because the exo one included a lot of the stuff people are criticising me for leaving out of this one.

I will definitely admit that it was very sloppy and not well researched. Some of the stuff I included turned out to be something I misunderstood (for example, the gifset of Siwon) and with other things, I didnt include enough information or included misinformation. I didnt put in a lack of effort because its Super Junior though, if I had been making a BigBang masterpost instead, that would have been the one with little effort put into it. I promise you it wasnt a group thing. I wholeheartedly accept that I messed up on this and Im really sorry, because I feel like I sort of have a responsibility not to spread misinformation and thats exactly what I did.

People are accusing me of purposefully portraying all the members on the list as villains and not including their apologies. Thats not true. I included links to everything that was on the list (some of which had been deleted - another thing I messed up on big time) and with certain things, I did include a bit of extra information (e.g. the Eunhyuk WGM thing being scripted). I included links to a post explaining why Siwon’s alleged homophobic comment was extremely dubious and likely to be untrue, though I guess I probably shouldnt have included it at all (I assumed people would go to the link). I did include apologies though, such as Shindong’s, Kangin’s and Zhoumi’s. I very strongly believe that people can change and one action doesnt define them for the rest of their life, and if I dont include an apology in a post, it’s always going to be because I didnt know they apologised. 

Yes, I should have included things such as dates. Yes, I should have checked the links. Yes, I should have included more info and specified where I wasnt knowledgable. Yes I should have included more context. Yes I should have looked into the Siwon stuff more, because when you watch the video, you can tell he said afterwards that he was joking. Siwon seems like a genuinely nice guy, and its really unfortunate that people keep spreading the rumour that hes homophobic, and Im ashamed to be one of the people who contributed to this. I messed up, a lot, and I honestly do regret making the post. The whole thing was carelessly done and not very thorough. I cant undo posting it, but I regret it and Im really, genuinely sorry for spreading incorrect information and for any of the fans I upset. I feel like this sounds insincere but it’s not, I promise, I wish I had gone about it very differently.

Im not really sure what else to say, if anyone wants to talk to me about it, thats fine. I actually really appreciate people messaging me about stuff and talking it through with me, especially because I actually really dislike conflict (makes me wonder why I started this blog really haha). I have a tendency to get a bit defensive and come across as rude/mocking/patronising/self righteous when I dont mean to, which Im trying to work on, but its hard to tell when Im doing it, so I try to avoid argument a lot. I didnt mean for this to spiral into an argument at all and I didnt post the post with malicious intent, though I know the intent doesnt matter all that much and that I did make mistakes. Im not sure anyone will read this post, Im not sure if any of the people upset by my actions will read it (because I doubt they are following this blog) but I felt like I owed everybody an apology.

its actually really frustrating when sources get deleted because then theres no definite way to tell exactly what somebody said. 

if henry said that the idea of his band mates being gay/trans “worried” him, thats homophobic and transphobic. if he just said that he was “shocked” because he thought they were gay/trans, then its iffy. if he simply stated that he thought they were gay/trans, then there isnt a problem because theres nothing wrong with a person being gay/trans. 

I did watch the video when it was up but it was a while ago and I dont remember exactly what he said. I’ll probably look for another video of the same segment at some point but I dont have time right now. Anyway, just my thoughts.

I feel like my SuJu MP wasn’t anywhere near as thorough as the exo one because I have exams at the moment so I was unable to spend as much time on it, so Id really appreciate it if people sent me anything they think I missed
