Doublestar Duo Headcanons part 3- ☀️Summertime Edition☀️

(Feat some with 3 star fam and superstar squad)

- Vanessa DEFINITELY prefers the summer over the winter. Not just bc she prefers nature and enjoys being outside, but she’s FAR more tolerant to heat than cold

-Gregory is just about the opposite. He would wear shorts in a blizzard if he was allowed to (spoiler alert he is not). And he overheats easy.

-more often than not, the boy is melting onto the floor. Wearing nothing but shorts and a shirt (and sometimes literally just shorts) and COVERED in sweat (much to Vanessa’s disgust)

-while she is much more tolerant, Vanessa can also overheat if the temps are high enough. And they are exceptionally high in Utah (average temps in summer are around 80 F/27 C)

-Freddy has an internal cooling system, that he can make into a cooling system (same with heat) and he’ll use that to cool his humans off

-Vanessa has one singular oscillating fan in her house. And her and Gregory have knocked each others marbles loose trying to get in the path of its relief (basically pushing each other out of the way so that it’ll blow more air on one than the other, even though it OSCILLATES)

-Freddy and Gregory have BOTH had to remind Vanessa to drink more water bc she’s not very good at staying hydrated (she’s a big soda/coffee drinker) and Gregory has gone so far as to pack water bottles in his own bag for both of them bc he knows she won’t do it for herself

-Vanessa likes sitting out on a hammock or a rocking lounge chair, and she’s usually either gotta book, her phone, her computer, or sometimes a handheld (she’s gotta switch console with LoZ themed designs)

-while Gregory does usually prefer indoors, he will partake in outdoor things too. Though it’s usually more running around and rolling down hills then actually relaxing like Vanessa (He knocked her down a hill ONCE and immediately regretted it)

-while both of them enjoy sleeping through a peaceful summer rain, storms are different. Gregory gets annoyed by the bright flashes of light, and Vanessa.. is actually scared of them (jumpy from the thunderclaps plus her fear of the dark)

-on those nights, they end up snuggled up under a blanket together, either until the storm passes, or they usually just fall asleep like that (Freddy adores seeing it every time)

-Vanessa teaches Gregory how to catch fireflies and keep them in a mason jar, and together they make firefly lanterns (she also tries to teach him to catch butterflies but they are much harder to catch and he ended up accidentally smacking her with the net)

-Vanessa will sometimes hold bonfires, and often invites all the other kids over for it (Cassie, Tony, and Ellis) to make s’mores (Gregory never made one before, everyone shows him how)

-Vanessa will sometimes also whip out her old guitar and play for them around the bonfire (maybe sing a little, but that’s a very rare treat, as she hardly lets anyone but Freddy and Gregory hear her sing)

-both Vanessa and Gregory never really got to enjoy fairs and carnivals (if they did, it was when they were really young, and don’t really remember) so they try to go to some of the local ones together (usually they just play the games and eat the fair food) (Gregory dominates her at shooting games, Vanessa dominates him at Dance Dance Revolution)

-Vanessa wants Gregory to experience a proper summer that a child should, while Gregory wants to give Vanessa her lost childhood back. So most stuff they do, they end up doing together (even if others tag along too)

- Gregory is a TOTAL adrenaline junkie, he will go on every extreme ride and roller coaster there is at an amusement park with no hesitation

-Vanessa, however, can only do so much (not that she hates roller coasters, she just has to space it out since she’s prone to migraines and motion sickness) (Gregory has Dramamine and ibuprofen on standby in his bag)

-if it’s just the two of them, Gregory REFUSES to go on any rides alone. If she can’t come with him, he just won’t do it (he says it’s to not leave her out, but truthfully, he just.. thinks it’s less fun without her, he considers her one of his “buddies” too)

-she tends to tag along the rest of his squad for this reason. So he’ll always have a “riding buddy” even when she has to take it slow (this doesn’t completely stop her, she just goes on way less than the rest of the kids)

-Vanessa prefers waterslides and water rides over roller coasters.

-Vanessa is an EXCELLENT swimmer, having known from being forcibly taught at a young age. Gregory, however, can’t even float on his own.. and is extremely embarrassed about it

-Gregory tried to hide it from Vanessa, but when she asked him to go with her swimming and he said no, she thought it was cuz he’d rather go with his friends than her, and he ended up having to come clean before her feelings got hurt

-he thought she’d make fun of him for it, But she didn’t, and she even offered to teach him how to swim

-he also asked if his lack of swimming made it to where she wouldn’t wanna go with him anymore bc he’d be a “hindrance” to her fun. She told him “not to be stupid,” saying she doesn’t care if he can only do certain things in the water, she’s not gonna leave him out of it

-DO NOT give those two water guns or water balloons, they will have each other drenched in seconds

-if the rest of the squad gets involved in that fight, they ALL turn against Vanessa (“adults vs kids”) she stands no chance

-she doesn’t get mad though, just laughs and vows revenge on every single one of them (reminding Greg she “knows where he sleeps at night”)

-Freddy makes sure the freezer is filled with popsicles (the glamrock themed kind) and gives every single person a popsicle afterwards (including Vanessa, she gets the chica pop)

-ice cream dates are a MUST, especially in the summer. Practically once a week the two will go to a little stand and get some. (Vanessa is always getting the same thing, while Gregory likes to explore and get something different every time) (he even tried her mint chip once, and thought it was disgusting)

-they both go on little picnics together at that same hilltop they went to right after “that night” and will lay on the grass cloudgazing

-if it gets late and the sky is clear enough, they will instead stargaze, with Gregory naming off all the constellations to terrifying accuracy

Notes {Summer HC}

Summer was originally gonna just catch an uber with Fig and spend the night at their house, then find a way back home the next day, given the fact that she knew upon going that she wouldn’t be in any state to drive. But after seeing Figaro’s house, she just dropped her friend off and then got the driver to take her as far as he could towards her own house. She lost her shoes in the backseat. Walked barefoot on the side of the road and took a shortcut through some of the woods to get to her little shed. She sang the same The Cure song all the way there.

“I love what you do to my head, it’s a mess out there!”

She got to her shed. Walked on in. There was no lock. Still humming, she’d go to her bathroom, and she would get sick because oh man the mixing of the weed and the drink was just not great. She had a headache that made her feel like she waas going to explode. Brushed her teeth. Stumbled out into her little living room. Grabbed a journal, her favorite pen, and would go, as quietly as she can in case the others were back and sleeping, into the main house. Her feet were dirty, a bit bloody from some rocks and sharp twigs. She’d clean her footprints later. She went to River’s door. Didn’t knock. Just sat down  by it, ripped a piece of paper out from her journal and ripped it further into strips. She had no awareness of what was around her. Even if River was sitting at the dining room table that she had passed, she wouldn’t have noticed, so focused on her mission. She’d write on them. And then quietly opened the door just the tiniest crack and slip them through so they’d fall down upon that first stair.

Another.

A third.

A fourth.

And then a last.

She’d start to scribble another one on the last strip of paper but wouldn’t make it all the way through before everything took her over - the emotions that made her feel like a green version of Violet Baudelaire, swelling up to unreasonable proportions. She’d fall asleep, feet tucked under her, leaning against the wall, pen falling out of her hand and onto the floor.

So like between them a simple bit of relaxing due to it being way too hot could easily become a water fight mostly started by judai but sometimes by Johan as just a bit of fun payback

Also you can't tell me they wouldn't do those classic pranks once or twice

Such as ice down the back of the shirt and shaking the soda or something

AND IT'S FOR SUMMER AS IN SUMMER BREAK AND THAT

WHO SAYS YOUR NOT ALLOWED TO BE A LITTLE CHILDISH IN THE SUMMER :D

Summer would come home in the morning.

Thomas would already be working on the house (no rest for the wicked) and would spot her blonde hair a mile away.

She’d approach him slowly, wondering if he was going to get mad at her for messing things up.

Course he wouldn’t. He’d feel how ashamed she was, radiating off of her. She couldn’t help it. She was really trying to hide it but it was too deep rooted.

But he would tell her that Roller Derby was a no-no, and if she wanted to get any emotions out of her system, to come join him for some soccer in the large yard.

She wouldn’t argue with this at all, just nod.

Not saying much of anything but he wasn’t expecting too much.

He’d just give her a hug, kiss the top of her head and tell her to go and rest up in her room since she looked tired, and they’d talk about it later.

Really, he was hoping that she wouldn’t run into Flotsam, given their conversation the night before.

Summer would hug her dad back, squeeze him extra tight, and then keep her head down as she went through the house, straight to the basement.

She wouldn’t even be able to go into the bed. It hurt too much.

She’d just stay on the couch, earbuds in, listening to music, hugging what she called her ‘River journal’ close to her chest.

Pretty much how she’d before for the first two or three days.

Seattle, Washington.

Just about as far away as she could get. It made sense. She was renting a room off of some keyboard player in a ‘Darkwave’ band, worked at comic book store, and was publishing some of her own comics online through a pseudonym. Went on ‘art retreats’ once a month to Mount Rainier national park and came back a little worse for wear but she wasn’t close enough to anyone for them to ask any questions about it.

Of course Thomas looked through her work to make sure that there was nothing telling about the family, not using their story in any way. The only slightly familiar character was one that resembled Figaro, so he wasn’t angry about that.

They’d meet her after work, outside of her building. She was, as she should be, quite surprised to see them and instantly fell afraid but didn’t try anything. Didn’t attack or lash out.

She invited them up for a cup of tea.

Thomas accepted but without any sort of warmth. This was for his wife. It was like - an errand, of sorts. That’s how he treated it. He wasn’t going to let things get personal. He closed that part off. He was a Laveau now, fully.

He explained what they were going to do, like a doctor before an operation.

She was against the idea at first. She still loved River. She still loved Flotsam and Valerie and Thomas and Dale and Chip and Raya and Ray and all of those people that she had considered family back then. The memories were the only thing that she had left of them and -

And Thomas would stiffly say, you’re going to let us do this, or we’re going to kill you right here, right now.

Simple as that.

He would suggest to Dale to just replace her memories with something bland. Going to school, coming home to the sadistic grandmother. Up to him what he decides to leave in, or if he leaves in anything, but amnesia could bring on attention. Seemed best to let her think that she was just an ordinary little witch who moved away from her bitch of a grandmother so there would be absolutely no reason for her to ever look back.

So she gave in.

She’d even kneel down at Dale’s feet, and would apologize to him for all of the pain that she had caused. She wasn’t expecting forgiveness. She knew she wouldn’t get any.

And when the deal was done, Thomas was just go. Just walk on out of there. Look at the watch on his wrist with impatience.

He just wanted to get home. Errand done. He missed his wife. Time to go.

Summer would be surprising Figaro by moving out on March first.

“But you’re hardly ever home anyway, you fucking workaholic, what’s the point in spending all of that money on a place that you’re rarely going to see?”

“Because it’ll be mine. And that’s important to me, Fig. I need something that’s just me.”

“I could be you.”

“Why would you want to be?”

She was taking over her manager’s lease at an artist’s loft complex. It was perfect for her, actually. She had toured it and she loved it. Her manager was getting married so needed a bigger space and because Summer was working on her comics pretty much around the clock, it seemed ideal. She’d need to keep both jobs to afford it but it had a kitchen, a bathroom, a tiny bedroom and a small entertaining area but she wasn’t really planning on having many people over. It was more so a studio for her to just keep on doing her hobbies.

“Is this because I fell into your bag and scared the fuck out of you?” Figaro would ask, following Summer around as she picked up her things from around the house.

“You mean when you purposefully went in and started to read my childhood diaries?”

“It just looked like a sad book to me, I couldn’t help myself.”

“No, that’s not why. If I’m going to be an adult, I might as well start acting like one, don’t you think?”

“Nah, fuck growing up. It’s a trap.”

Figaro wouldn’t help. They were clearly bitter.

“Who is going to bring me breakfast now? Who am I going to upload videos of on youtube?”

“That’s one of the reasons that I’m moving out.”

“Come on, we could make it kid, you could be in the big times!”

“I just wanted to eat my wings in peace.”

“Can I at least have a key?”

“Of course, Figgy. I’ve only got one rule though.”

“Oh?”

“No fondue in my bed.”

“HA.”

Because it was an artist’s loft, there was a gallery inside and it did open up once a month to the public. Summer would take place when she can, when she wasn’t working like crazy. Figaro would go, might try to drag people along. It wasn’t going to be a secret. Fig and Summer were mainly there to make fun of the art snobs, for though she’d live among them, she wasn’t ever going to be one of them. She just liked having a place where she didn’t have to depend on anyone, made her own rent, no expectations other than submitting something once a month which was a welcome challenge anyhow. Gaining herself back after her heart had been turned into a big mush of scar tissue.

Where has the blonde gone?

Essentially, her powers have finally come in handy for something now that she’s not afraid to use them. Willem was wrong. Maddy came through. She didn’t get Summer the job, she got Summer the interview. And she was able to make the woman that would be training her for an evening/night/early morning front desk position, have a very good feeling about her, hence getting her the job while the regular prepares to go on mat leave. On top of that, she also managed to get a position at her slice of heaven, the comic book store. So she works during the day from 11-5 Monday- Thursday goes back to Figaro’s for a nap and then works 9 pm til 5 am Tuesday-Saturday leaving her Sunday to herself. Not that she’s going to have much of a social life, as shunned as she feels. But she’s working hard with the determination to be on her own two feet for once. And she made sure to have full moons off, being candid that she would need those.  Occasionally, Figaro would drop in to either one of these jobs for their break and bring them food, getting more than concerned that those perfectionist ways are coming back and she’s not getting enough to eat.

Every Sunday afternoon/evening she goes to a local coffee shop and has a little booth and enjoys her hot chocolates and teas by the window. Croissants and hot sandwiches. Figaro constantly insists that she’s not bugging anyone by being there but Summer still gets the feeling that she is so she tries to spend as much time out as she can. Same booth, every week, with either a book, her journals, and her sketching pads. She makes no secret of it, but she rarely invites someone. Maybe she’ll reach out to Zero or something to get together but she doesn’t have many friends that weren’t both hers and River’s so she’s lonely most of the time. She doesn’t know how to branch out anymore. Even though she has no intention of dating because her heart is still frayed, she does imagine romance quite often. She can’t help herself. She misses being held most of all. Or just feeling comfortable around another person.

 Of course it was Maddy that would have introduced her to this soothing French music that she’d sometimes listen to, despite not understand a lot of the words. She’s picking it up though. Slowly but surely. Getting her pieces together.

Hullo Funky {Summer & Figaro HC}

Note: this is entirely self indulgent you don’t need to read, I just love these two.

Summer’s mind was still going through a lot of things when she left River’s house, not their house, River’s house, and drove towards Funkytown in the only thing that Thomas had left her with. Too much that she just couldn’t put upon her friend right now. It was almost mating season, she was feeling it approach, a tingling - that might be a bit of a problem. She didn’t want to bring anybody down more than she already had to during the phone conversation she had near the tree without privacy. She’d have to be in more control over her emotions than she ever had before - on top of trying to build up a life again because at that point, she had been trying to live only for the camp and for her fiance. So how was she going to try to chipper herself up? Food - of course.

She still had some cash so she’d buy herself some comfort food. She went to the same place where she went with Scout. She missed that girl so much. It would blow her mind if she ever knew that Scout didn’t think that she didn’t like her. She loved her. But sisters and Summer didn’t work out very well. Every time she opened herself up to the possibility that she might be getting close with someone like that, it never worked out. Agnes, Scout, the Rayas. She ordered herself three pounds, she was feeling a bit sad, and then decided another three pounds to go because she might as well show up to Funkytown bringing food.

And of course some assholes had seen a girl sitting alone at a table, ordering three pounds of wings for herself. And of course men of this variety didn’t know how to leave well enough alone. They’d mutter among themselves and nudge elbows and point their heads over in her direction while she pretended not to notice, fiddling around with her phone, looking over different job applications while waiting for her food to arrive, and when it did, it came in three different baskets, with a side of salad and plenty of carrots, celery and ranch.

“You gonna eat all that?” One of the guys asked. Summer politely looked in their direction. They just had the construction worker look to them. The sun had been shining in their faces for a long time. It had taken a toll. She could smell the skin cancer on one of them over the smell of the sauces. And then she looked back down at her food.

“I wasn’t just going to look at it,” She said calmly and picked up one of the wings between her fingers, one on each end of the bone. But then an opportunity seemed to arise. “You fellas seem to think that I can’t finish all of this, don’t you?”

“We’re not the kinda guys who will tell a lady what she can and can’t do but....” The skin cancer one said. He didn’t even know, Summer realized. He didn’t even know that he was dying right where he was sitting. “That’s a lot of food there and you’re a mite of a gal. Did you skip dinner last night?”

“No,” Summer said calmly. “I had a pretty good dinner. And two bowls of cereal for breakfast. I’m just feeling a bit hungry, that’s all. Do you want to make this interesting?”

One of the guys chimed in. “I bet that little girl a hundred dollars that she can’t finish all that within an hour.”

“Ahh, come off it, your wife is going to kill you if you come home missing a hundred dollars.”

“But I might get lucky if I come home with an extra hundred,” The guy leered. Summer curled her nose. But she would bring her wallet out of her bag and take out the cash that she had. “Okay, I’ve got a hundred,” She said with a smile. “So - I have an hour?”

“That sounds fair,” One of the men leered. Summer looked at the wing that she was holding, and set it down a little nervously before giving him a nod. Once all was legitimized she called for the waitress. “I’m going to need some more napkins.”

-

Styrofoam to go-box in one hand, extra hundred bucks in her wallet, and still licking wing sauce off of her fingers, she’d finally approach the doors of Funkytown. She didn’t even have to knock. The door opened, the clown having expected her. She smiled at him and booped his nose. Clowns were intimidating but she could get used to it as long as it didn’t start laughing and dancing. The second thing that she was greeted with was a really - weird - noise.

“What - what in the world?” She asked Figaro when she saw her friend, kicked back on a couch, playing - air keyboard while laying down. Figaro would snap their fingers and point them into guns towards Summer. She wasn’t going to be getting a big deal made out of her break up here, just like a big deal hadn’t been made out of the engagement.

“Dvar, babayyyyy,” Figaro said, slowly sitting up but kept with the head bobbing. “Russian band who believe themselves to be the messengers of a bee deity, what do you think?”

“It’s very you,” Summer had to admit. “I brought some food. If you’re hungry. I got a hundred bucks off of these weird gambling addicts in the restaurant, it was awesome.”

“I’m still telling you that we gotta do muk-bangs. I got a good microphone. You’ll make a killing, girl,” Fig said, and then got up to their feet, still grooving as they walked towards Summer, mouthing to the lyrics which was not in any actual language.

“We’ll see. I am going to have to look for a job sooner or later. I can only mooch off of you so much-” The blonde started but Figaro reached up and pinched Summer’s lips between her fingers.

“I gotchu,” Fig said with a grin. “Because you stupidly dropped out of college-” They had to squeeze Summer’s lips again because she was going to say something about that. “- I took the liberty of asking Mads if there’s anything at her inn and she’s looking at where she can put you. Maybe you’ll be a maid. At least you could pull off the uniform. Buuuut until then, can you pretty please just - make sure that Papa G actually eats real food that isn’t just spaghetti and I dunno, keep him company during the day? He’s got the dolls but - I noticed young Gep looked a bit out of sorts. Guess even they have their limits. Oh, and I need your help on some homework, so there, you’re not mooching.”

Summer widened their eyes, looking down at their fingers like - you done yet? Figaro thought for a couple of seconds, decided they were done, and then let go. Summer licked her lips to get rid of the tingling feeling. “Okay - first of all - it wasn’t a stupid move. And you went and told Maddy? Really?”

“Yeah dude, who else do we know that owns their own business and can get you something fast? I mean you can pet sit and walk with me but that’s only gonna get you pocket change,” Fig said with a shrug.

“I guess she would have found out anyway,” She said, running her fingers through her hair. “What kind of homework do you need help with?”

“Art.”

“It’s art class, you can bull your way through it so easily, what do you need help with?”

“I gotta draw a self portrait,” Figaro said, stroking an invisible beard. “And all that I keep drawing is Baby Gonzo.”

“How is that not a self portrait?”

“Damn, Savage, you still got a sense of humor. That’s good. Come on, let’s find Willem and Slippery Douglas. Maybe burying your face in a warm, hairy tummy will make all the bad feels go away. It works for me.”

“You do mean the dog right?”

“I guess I do now.”
