I was sitting here, wondering why Ongsa was resisting telling Sun about her being Earth-- after all, just like Aylin said, it will only force them apart later on-- but then it hit me: Ongsa truly believes she has no future with Sun. She has accepted she likes Sun, she knows that Sun likes Earth (aka has fallen for Ongsa in terms of personality), and yes, she's even letting her friends help wingman for her, but Onsga does not believe even a little bit that she is going to be Sun's friend or potential lover past their time together right now. It's not even because of the Earth lie. It's because her sense of self-worth is so low, she cannot imagine Sun keeping her around past their current tentative friendship and the constrains of seeing each other every day at school. She clings to the lie of Earth because she knows that Earth makes Sun happy, and she wants to keep doing that as long as she can, since, in her mind, this is the only way she can make Sun happy. The idea that Ongsa can make Sun happy has never even occurred to her.
