( synopsis ) — clark becomes upset and a little insecure about the fact that you and jimmy have been so close recently, but thankfully you’re there to reassure him that he still has his chance with you! requested here.
( warnings ) — insecure, sorta jealous, clark! also a quick thank u for 400 followers i love u all!
“You look upset.” Lois chuckles lightly as she approaches Clark’s desk, resting one hand casually on the back of his chair, the other occupied with a coffee that tastes more like sugar than coffee.
Clark jolts slightly, immediately glancing away from where you’re standing with Jimmy. He pulls off his glasses, rubbing his eyes with a sigh. “No, I don’t. I’m fine,” he mutters.
But it was painfully clear he wasn’t.
He’d been watching you all morning.. not with those usual soft, dreamy looks he gave you when you were buried in research, the kind that made it seem like he was daydreaming about your future together. No, this time his expression was distant. Cold. Somber. And of course, there was a reason.
Lately, you’d been spending a lot more time at Jimmy’s desk than usual. Sure, you and Jimmy were friends, always had been, but the closeness had become… noticeable.
And Clark would know. He spends, frankly, about 75% of his workday glancing over at your desk. But that’s not the point.
He lets out another sigh under Lois’s inquisitive gaze, eventually nodding in Jimmy’s direction. When she follows his line of sight, nothing initially seems out of the ordinary. Jimmy’s seated at his desk, looking up at you as you lean casually against the edge. The two of you are talking, until you reach out and gently brush Jimmy’s hair out of his face.
Lois’s eyebrows shoot up. “Oh,” she murmurs.
“They just seem… closer than usual today,” Clark says with a furrowed brow, eyes narrowing as Jimmy stands and pulls you into a hug. You return it, one arm wrapping around him while your other hand rests gently on the back of his head.
Lois frowns thoughtfully, releasing her grip on Clark’s chair and stepping away, clearly turning over thoughts in her head, mostly, why her best friend hadn’t mentioned anything about starting something with Jimmy.
But the truth? There wasn’t anything going on between you and Jimmy. Not romantically, anyway. He’d come to you, needing a shoulder after making the difficult decision to finally break things off with Eve for good. He felt awful, and you, being who you are, were there for him.
Which made it all the more heartbreaking when Clark finally approached your desk later that day. It was near the end of your shift when you heard him softly clear his throat behind you. You turned to find him standing there, nervously running a hand through his curls, offering a half smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes.
“Um… hey. Hi,” he said, voice quiet.
You turned in your chair fully, smiling as your eyes met his. “Hi, you. Thought you were never gonna walk over here,” you teased, giving him a gentle nudge.
He chuckled, but it sounded strained. “Yeah, I, uh… saw you talking to Jimmy. Didn’t want to interrupt anything… whatever you two had going on.”
Your smile faded slightly as you caught the edge in his tone. There was something else there.. Confusion? Jealousy? Hurt?
“Yeah…” you said slowly, watching the way his fingers fidgeted in front of him. “What was that supposed to mean?”
“What was what?” he replied, a small frown forming.
“Why are you acting weird about me talking to Jimmy?”
“I’m not.”
“Clark, you are.”
“I am not.”
“Clark.” You stared at him, brows raised, until he finally sighed in defeat and slid down to sit on the floor beside your desk, leaning his head back against the side as he looked up at you.
“Are you guys like… I don’t know. Dating or something?” he asked quietly, dropping his gaze to his lap. “You two looked really comfortable earlier.”
A soft smile flickered across your face before quickly fading. You looked down at Clark, sulking like a kicked puppy, if he had a tail, it would’ve been tucked between his legs.
“What’s it to you?” you asked gently.
He gave a small shrug, his thumbs nervously circling each other in his lap.
“I just… I thought we had something going on. For a while now, actually.” You sat in silence for a moment, watching him, his nervous posture, his flushed ears, the unspoken fear in his voice.
Reaching down, you lifted his chin with your fingers, guiding his eyes back to yours.
“There’s nothing going on between Jimmy and me, Clark,” you said softly. “Not like that.”
Clark blinked, his eyes searching yours.
“So… I can still ask you out on a date?” he asked, a shy, teasing smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
You rolled your eyes playfully, leaning down to press a quick kiss to the tip of his nose, grinning as his entire face flushed.
“Yeah,” you whispered, brushing your fingers through his hair. “You can ask me on a date, Clark.”
The team’s most bright, cheerful, and optimistic team member is hit with some kind of magic or chemical that gives them ears and a tail. (In this example: cat ears and a tail.)
Everyone thinks this is especially cute and charming; at first. That is, until they notice that their usual expressions and actions aren’t matching up with the emotions expressed by their animal characteristics.
They’re busy discussing something with someone they usually look at with sparkly eyed admiration, but their ears are flattened back on their head trembling while their tail wraps defensively around their torso.
They’re asked to do a task that they usually accept doing no problem with no complaint with a smile but the tip of their tail and an ear is twitching with annoyance.
They’re scolded for being careless or unprofessional and they smile and laugh it off giving a half hearted response that they’ll try better like usual, but their ears droop and their tail drops and curls around their leg.
Some others are joking and talking shit behind their back, like usual, while they go about their task smiling brightly and unbothered cause they can’t hear it and aren’t paying attention, like usual, accept their ears are sharp and tilted in the direction of their talking.
Someone ruffles their hair or gives them a hug when they usually appear unaffected or indifferent, but they immediately start purring loudly at the affection, their tail swaying happily.
They are doing a task that they usually look neutral or bored doing and their ears and tail are perked straight up with rapt interested and stimulation.
A teammate who is considered to be their best friend, who everyone believes they are open and honest with, finally asks them if they’re feeling okay. Their ears are drooping sadly, and tail tense and wrapped around them defensively. But they turn to their friend with their oh-so carefully practiced bright and cheerful smile, that only until now no one realized didn’t quite reach their eyes, and respond with an innocently happy tone: “I’m fine!”
Their whole team realizes with dawning horror that their ‘air-headed bright and happy’ teammate had been carefully hiding their true feelings the whole time as not to complicate things or worry anyone, when the whole time they’d been feeling sad, hurt, scared, useless, unappreciated, and was being dishonest about how hard they were actually trying to do the right thing to help support the rest of the team as best as they could. No one realized how hard they had been struggling for the rest of their benefit, and so expertly hiding it behind a cheerful smile.
okay i had a brilliant idea for a fic last night, but i know that i have neither the attention span nor skill to write it so instead i'm throwing it into the void and praying that someone else picks it up (if you do, the only rule is you have to tag me so i can read it)
okay, so, y'all know this comic panel?
yeah this one, it's one of my favorites, anyway, this is what the idea sprung from so, basically it goes like this:
it'd be a fic told in three parts, or three ways, it wouldn't have to be split into three chapters-though that would definitely work-but it would be told from three perspectives, bruce's, clark's, and a third party-who the third party is is up to you, i'm partial to the idea of the batkids all arguing over who gets to tell the story, personally-and the idea is basically just this comic panel.
so, we'll start with clark first, the way he tells the story, it sounds like a love story-maybe a rom com-with a little bit of a mystery thread in the background, but it's not of import.
bruce tells the story like it's a detective story, with a little bit of romance in the background, but his focus is on the clues, the steps one takes with them, etc.
the third perspective, from the batkids or a member of the league or really whoever else you want it to be, makes it clear that the story is both in pretty much equal measure, and also that neither bruce nor clark was lying, just focusing on what they felt was most important.
the rest is up the user interpretation, but i just, i really like this idea but i know i can't write it, so like, if anyone else wants to, please do. and hey if you know of a fic like this, i'd love a link!
May I please request a Clark Kent (Henry Cavills version) reader insert prompt with "I can't lose you" "don't worry you never will"
Sure, that’s perfect! Thank you so much for requesting, I’m fangirling over Henry Cavill after the Witcher :3
A figure wearing a dark blue suit with shades of red caught my eye. My heart lowered back into my chest, releasing the knot in my throat.
“Clark…” I whispered, but it was enough to make him turn around.
Even in the distance, he felt me. Perhaps even heard me.
He sighed and took a step forward. Refusing to wait until he walked all the way over to me, I ran to separate the distance between us.
I collided with him and hugged him tight, sighing in relief when I felt his arms around me.
“Are you okay?” He asked me, gentle as always.
“Yeah” I squeezed my cheek against his strong chest and embraced his warmth.
“You’re shaking” When I looked up at him, he was frowning a little.
“I was scared” The sight of his warm blue eyes calmed me slightly. “I can’t lose you”
“Don’t worry, you never will” He pursed his lips a little, no doubt resigned to my concern. “I’m here with you”
I hid my face on his shoulder again, and Clark kindly tightened the embrace.
“Are you alright?” I asked him just as I felt him lean his chin on my head.
“I’m okay”
“Good…”
Even knowing Clark was mostly invulnerable, I loved him so much that I couldn’t help worrying. Irrational thoughts kept assaulting me as soon as he went into battle. However, his words were enough to soothe me.
“I’m here” He repeated, his voice dripping with emotion and comfort. “You won’t lose me, Y/N”

The hero rescues their s/o from a kidnapping/hostage situation. During the exchange, their s/o runs into their open loving arms.
A gunshot.
The hero looks down, a crushed bullet falls off their chest. Their s/o’s knees buckle and the hero quickly catches them. Their eyes wide as a trickle of blood runs down from the corner of their mouth. Red bleeds through the front and back of their shirt.
The villain laughs. They escape with the goods the hero had exchanged for the safe return of their lover. They never lied, their lover was safe when they returned them. That didn’t mean that’s how they had to leave them.
Superman (man of steel) prompt "Are you asking me out right now?". I couldn't think of a great prompt but I love superman and wanted to request something. Thank you 🖤
Cool, I think this is my first Superman thingy! Thank you so much for requesting, sweetie! :D Bear with me, though, it’s the first thing I’ve ever written for Superman and I might not get Cavill’s Clark’s characterization too well.
The way Clark was looking at me should have been hint enough. But I wanted him to say the words, to actually heat it to confirm my suspicions.
“What?” I grinned, holding his loving glance and giving him a playful one of my own.
“You just look… beautiful” He ended up looking away, much to my amusement.
“Why, thank you!” I smirked, deciding to spare him by averting my eyes too. “That’s very sweet of you, Clark”
“Are you doing anything today?” He was so cute, he looked… shy!
How could such a big and burly man hold so much gentleness and sweetness?
“Not really” I was having too much fun to make it easier for him, even if I felt a bit bad about it. “Why do you ask?”
“I was wondering if you’d like to go somewhere? With me?”
“Somewhere? Like what?”
“I… I don’t know… Wherever you like”
I wondered if he was nervous, because he didn’t show it at all. He just looked a little timid, but that was all. Not self-conscious nor nervous. But calm and collected as usual.
“Are you asking me out right now?” I chuckled, feeling my cheeks burning in spite of myself.
Clark dedicated me the most tender of glances and softly nodded. How could I say no to that face? He was such a sweetheart!
“So you want to go out with me” I said to buy some time, since I was suddenly flustered by the gentle look in his warm eyes.
“Only if you want to go out with me” He joked, smiling brightly.
“Of course I want to go out with you!”
“Then it’s settled”
When his smiled widened even more, I couldn’t help but to smile back.
