Clark had a habit of dropping in at early hours.
You woke slowly, groaning weakly at the - sadly aggravating - voice of Superman. The bright contrast of his super suit created a deep strain against your bleary eyes, slightly alcohol-clouded from the night before. Not to mention, it was difficult to even shift in the position you were in.
A dog on your right, Kara splayed all over; her snores a past time, her breathing slow and content with her ragged movements on tugging up the orange covers that happened every four-six point three seconds.
It was easy to count, especially when it was troubling to shift from the position of a hung over Kryptonian that seemed relatively comfortable.
“Ow, okay.” The grogginess of your voice present. Soon feeling Kara’s sunglasses dig into your chest once you dared to shift a muscle.
A sharp inhale came from your lips, a nose scrunch before launching yourself to attempt and sit up to turn off the repetition of Clark’s voicemail that echoed through the filthy contents of the spaceship.
But you were never successful in any attempts of this.
Kara, even without her added strength and durability, still managed to weigh you down, her leg curled up near your hip while the snores began to creep closer towards your ear shell. It was agitating, annoying, and rather evil. In your earnest opinion.
By the gods, you couldn’t even grab the cup of warm water at the side table.
“Move it.” You had finally resorted to waking the drunk woman.
A protest was heard, a weak hand coming into contact with your cheek in a sleep gesture, “Mhm…g’me a little longer…”
“Up!”
“In a sec…”
The snores had come to an end, thankfully. But her stubbornness decided to make an appearance. Especially with the way her knee nudged its way into your ribs, her personal favourite way of making you quieten down.
With this, silence was brung. No more sleepy bickering as you clearly began to sulk with a slight headache beginning to knock within the contents of your skull.
Then, without warning. Krypto awoke and barked; the abrupt aggression was still not anticipated as he jumped on Kara’s back like it was a booster, barking again before he trailed around and decided to relieve himself upon an old newspaper.
“Buddy, c’mon—“
Kara had finally woke up properly, massaging the bleariness from her eyes before leaning up to stare at your face. A lazy smirk tugged on her rosy lips, her cheeks still maintaining a pink hue from the alcohol she drank prior to this sleep. An odd combo and mixture of drinks, you remembered how awful they smelt when she downed them happily.
You rolled your eyes, pinching her ear when stating, “Move.”
“A’right, j’give me a sec…” Kara’s voice slurred, sighing lazily as she pressed - an instinctive action - a gentle kiss to your jawline despite the state she was in. Finally shifting from her position upon your frame.
You relished in the opportunity to stretch, wincing at the slight pain from the awkward sleeping position—a grimace present once you heard a clink in your neck when your arms stretched high.
“Kara… uh, huh! Hope you and —“ The transmission of Clark’s video voicemail was glitched due to Kara’s pathetic fumbling with the buttons, “Happy birthweek…”
It was finally cut off, Kara jamming her index finger against the red button.
“Think I could recite that from memory from how many times it played,” You muttered with a shift, deciding to lay on your stomach and stretch your limbs languidly.
Kara snorted, her hand in the air as she walked off into the distance. When she returned in sight, her sunglasses were off while she stayed clad in her beloved Blondie band-tee, carrying two cups of water that dangerously sloshed against the rim.
“Your royal highness…”
Kara had dramatically set down the cups of water, pushing away the warm one from last night before her hand lazily scratched against your back. Her mocking smirk softened into a gentle smile at the star-fish position that was currently being displayed on the bed.
But then she tripped over her own feet - or Krypto, who knows - stumbling with a surprising grunt and catching herself on the wall. Her headache worsened due to her world turning for a period.
“Saw that.” You grinned, face still smushed into the pillow.
Kara narrowed her eyes, ruffling the back of her head with a lazy yawn. She began to sober up, albeit with clear reluctance, sitting on the edge of the bed while carefully avoiding stepping on the tarnished newspaper that Krypto had caused.
It was calm for a moment, you nearly drifting back off as you cuddled the pillow that had clearly seen better days, that was until Kara sighed and muttered something under her breath, having the decision to climb under the blanket and yawn obnoxiously.
“Are you serious?” You practically mewled, moving to lay on your side before Kara grinned without regret, coaxing her arms around your waist to hold tightly.
Then, you continued. “Is this the morning plan? Stay in bed and then go day-drinking?”
“Mm… y’know it…”
You laid on your side, head still lightly smushed into the pillow as Kara tightened her hold with all the strength she could muster. A grunt left you.
She might have been weakened by the red sun, but she was still strong as shit.
With a turn, you wiggled your palm free to tap at Kara’s limp arm consistently. By now it was a code message she forced you to memorise, the lingering and constant fear of hurting you had always fretted her; the taps became embedded, something that urged her to loosen.
And she didn’t fight it, nodding smoothly despite her hangover to loosen her grasp on your waist. Her thumb traced small apology-circles into the bare warm skin of your hip, her chin jutting forward to press a vocal kiss upon your jawline.
You grinned. Ignoring your faux anger from earlier as you tilted your head, allowing the blonde more room to pepper the light kisses along the junction of your neck.
The tension eased, becoming cordial and dulcet as she muttered things into your sleep-warm skin. It was things in Kryptonian, travelling through the area without leaving traces. Yet allowing her scent to linger with every light kiss, carefully ensuring it was a weighted act of affection.
“You’re sweet this morning,” You whispered, breaking the silence that was shuffling around the area even amongst the sniffles from Krypto or the murmured whispering she made.
A snort left her lips suddenly, kissing just under your jaw, “That’s ‘cause I’m up before eleven in the morning.”
Another kiss followed, you smiling through the copious amount of affection you were receiving—even if she eventually cut you off from whatever your retort was planning to be.
“And no, please don’t make this a regular thing. Sleep is mandatory.”
“How is it my fault you joined in on a bar fight because a man said your music sounded outlandish?” You muttered through the sounds of her kissing, feeling her lips travel upwards this time.
A faint huff left her. “Don’t. The bruises are killing me.”
“Next time, don’t play Blondie.”
“That’s an attack on my sense of self, screw you.”
But Kara’s words were half-hearted, shifting her position so she hovered above you with a little smirk. The faint scent of whatever alcohol she chugged last evening was present, yet you couldn’t find yourself to care.
Your palm without a thought, hand slipped up to cup her nape. Your fingers twirl a few loose blonde waves before pulling her into a longing kiss. Her lips moved with experience, nipping at your bottom lip while one hand shifted to cup your cheek to keep a grasp on you at all times.
But then a loud bark was heard. And what followed was a collapse of items spread over the table—the cups going flying into the bed. Krypto yipped, sitting innocently when you both sat up immediately, laps coated in cold water.
“Krypto!”
“Everytime buddy, everytime!”
Kara, soaked, stood back up with her face furrowed in the inherent belief that she had just been cock-blocked. Opening the door to the spaceship to let the dog roam around in the dead field for fresh air.
Meanwhile, you were shivering. Utterly soaked in your superman-themed pyjama shirt.
It’s how you showed your love to her.
