OPM Thursday Presents: Chasing Blue Cars
by Bell Delco
I immensely thank the universe for that random night this duo drunkenly named themselves Chasing Blue Cars. This rap, pop, and folktronica band from Rodriguez, Rizal is definitely to watch out for with their catchy beats, deep and honest songwriting, and distinct vocal quality—not to mention the duo’s definite inspiration from the American band “Twenty One Pilots”, which is quite discernible in their works.
It was last year, June 20th, when Edilbert Estanislao (vocals, pen, ukulele, and Empi Lights) and Emerson Gamat (guitar, bass, programming, and Empi Lights) dropped their first single on Facebook and SoundCloud. Days after that, I found “Reel Song” and immediately fell in love with this certified earworm. The lyrics pierces you in the guts because of the ring of truth around them that you just can’t deny. It is deeply relatable and is tune-full as hell. I had it on loop for the rest of the day and the other days after that. I have loved them since then.
They have continued to record and release songs each with such appealing beat and profound songwriting until they finally released their album last July 5th entitled “Living Is a Luxury I Can’t Afford” containing six songs of pure gold all available on Spotify, iTunes, Deezer, and Amazon.
I am wishing, hoping, and sure that the duo will blow-up because they definitely, definitely deserve it. So listen to their songs now so you’ll know the divine feeling of closing your eyes while Chasing Blue Cars is on with Edil rapping lyrics like:
“I used to dream to be one of these famous fucking artist now I only want to be famous and I don't even know what art is to be honest I don't even have a reason to be famous but I guess I am like this coz I don't even know what life is”
Pretty heavy shit, huh?
Also, catch the duo at Sining Collective x Baon Collective present “Tahanan” gig on September 15 at the Green Sun with Tanya Markova, Munimuni, I belong To the Zoo, and more. Event starts at 4 PM at 120 Pesos.

tbh UDD lang talaga gusto ko na opm band tsaka kasi hindi talaga ako into bands haha pero i’m starting to like Ben&Ben like legit huhu and a little bit of IV of Spades and i guess that’s a good thing na i’m going into more opm songs tsaka i’m starting to look for more pinoy rock indie bands nadin na kahit hindi pa sikat pero magaganda yung songs pero struggle kasi hirap mag hanap haha
I’m open for suggestions y’all, help me out haha
Letting go of the person you truly love is one of the bravest thing that you can do, because as you let go you also accepted the fact that you are willing to give that person the happiness that they want even if you're not part of their lives anymore.
May mga bagay, pagkakataon o tao talaga na darating sa buhay natin na darating di upang manatili kundi upang may matutunan tayo at ihanda sa kung ano talaga ang para sa atin 💕
I didn't mean to be this way, to be this cold so that no one could hurt me again. I push away those people who want's to be with me, doubting their real intentions.
I don't want to be afraid anymore and not to try again.
I'm tired of feeling this way.
I want to feel the fire again that I know just kept inside of me.
