Sweeney! (1977)
"I'd like to make a statement, sir. I have reason to believe that there is a high-level conspiracy which is responsible for several so far unexplained deaths, and of which I myself have been a victim."
"Is that it?"

Shows Whose Names Changed Very Slightly #43:
When violent, mouthy cop show The Sweeney got a spinoff film - made by the same production company - it was called Sweeney! On the posters, the dot of the exclamation mark had an X in it, for the rating (equivalent to an 18 rating now.) The sequel was Sweeney 2 - maybe they weren't confident enough about it to give it an exclamation mark.
[For overseas readers: "the sweeney" was the Flying Squad, it's a shortened version of the rhyming slang, Sweeney Todd. They didn't literally fly, just drove around very fast.]
The love between a man and his dog beautifully depicted here...
