This year marks my 30th as a photographer. This is the wonderful Stan James, the picture editor from the Ealing Gazette who gave me my first publication (1987) and my my first job as a press photographer in 1989! This is the view looking down onto the building pad. You’ll notice black plastic covering over the dirt pile and sloped areas of the project. The plastic is one small part of our S.W.P.P. The state of California requires us to have a storm water prevention plan in place during the rainy season. We are required to document any rain occurrences over 1/4”. The point of the process is to keep run off from the project from going into the storm drains and creeks. I’m pleased to announce this image was awarded overall Judges Choice for the Societies of Photographers April competition and achieved the Gold Award in the Mono section.  Not bad for a first time entering these competitions.  As chuffed as I am, I also can’t help thinking that I may have peeked too soon! 😉

This photo has always meant a lot to me, so it’s pretty special that it was picked out from a cast of over 1400 other photographs.  It’s even on our wall at home.

SWPP – Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers I joined the SWPP over Christmas. Everyone seems so nice and helpful. Am looking forward to getting to know them and hope to gain some of their qualifications.
