Life series Ranger's Apprentice AU

Inspired by the two things i have been seeing on this site lately.

Gem gets to be the Knight who gets dragged along on the Ranger’s adventures. 

Scott can be the reigning champion of the Kingdom.

And Joel gets to be that one Knight who married into royalty, and though incredibly in love, is frustrated with being stuck around the castle. Lizzie is the Royalty in question. 

Cleo as the King. No explanation needed. 

Bdubs and Scar as the princes who keep on getting involved with the Ranger’s adventures somehow. 

Lizzie as the member of the Royal family who definitely used to get involved in the Ranger’s and Knight’s adventures. 

Grian as the Ranger who actually smiles and is cheerful sometimes, but ended up as the Ranger Commander and now has to do paper work. 

Etho gets to be the famous cryptid that turned up at the start of a large nation-wide conflict 20 years ago, proceeded to be an important part of solving the whole thing, then joined the Rangers despite the lack of background checks and training. He also gets an accent, and connections to royalty. 

Impulse as the Ranger who started off in Knight training before switching career paths, and therefore gets to carry a sword. Also, he is cheerful for a Ranger.

Tango as a Ranger who works very closely with the diplomats. One diplomat in particular. 

And BigB as the Ranger everyone thinks has magic, because his abilities are so far beyond the normal human extent. He doesn't have magic, he is simply awesome. 

Pearl as the diplomat who could throw someone out the window but chooses to make the Rangers do it instead. And also the one who could overthrow the Kingdom in a matter of days if she so chose.

Jimmy - for the sake of getting the Bad Boys to be in the same castle - is the diplomat assigned to the capital. This gives him the option of either chasing the Princes around on their adventures, or joining Skizz and Mumbo in trying to keep the Kingdom running. 

On that note, Skizz fits the vibe of that one guy who doesn’t quite know what's up, but tries to keep everyone on track with whatever they are doing anyway. He has unknowingly prevented so many wars. 

Mumbo, on the other hand, does know what’s up. He’s the one who has read all the reports. 

And finally the Baron Ren, and his right hand man Martyn. Do I need to explain more?

Moments in this AU:

Etho and Grian get to surround a castle with just the two of them. (based on early years book 1)

Mumbo gets sent on a mission for some reason, and Gem and Joel (Knights), Grian and Impulse (rangers), Scar (prince) and Lizzie (princess) all get sent after him.  (based on book 10) But instead of a weird not quite love triangle based on confusion, we instead end up with Mumscarian and Jizzie. 

Tango and Jimmy get to have the ‘ranger simping for the diplomat’ relationship. (Halt and Pauline) 

Tango also gets to throw that one guy into a moat.

‘Extreme homosexual tension between two rangers but then one of them marries someone else. But they end up being really good lifelong friends anyway.’ but it’s Impulse and Tango and both of them end up in romantic relationships instead of just one. 

Rangers who instead of living in a cabin in the woods live in castles with their significant others - Impulse (with Skizz), Tango (Jimmy), Grian (Mumbo and Scar)

Rangers who definitely still live in a cabin in the woods and are very much fine with this - BigB, Etho.

Ren and Martyn having their own adventures / conflicts way in the north while everyone else is dealing with whatever army is threatening the capital. 

BigB and Pearl silently solving half the Kingdoms problems in the background while Cleo and Grian bang their heads on tables, Etho and Tango throw people out of windows, and Etho tries to hide that he is taking the Crown Prince (Bdubs) out to look at horses.

Probably not

(RA is book series set in what is basically medieval Europe but with a few fantasy elements and a different map. Series focuses on a group called the Rangers who are sort of the medieval fantasy version of special forces or a very very elite intelligence group.)

Brief (probably stereotypical) description of groups:

Diplomats: diplomatic, elegant, cunning, and for some reason tall and blond.

Rangers: Sneaky, sarcastic, witty, often loners, secretive, mischievous,  short.

Knights: noble, good at fighting, really good at fighting, good humoured. 

Scribes: bookish, nerds, socially awkward.

The Nameless Things

The Nameless Things of Tolkien's world,

What are they? What are they? Where do they hide?

deep in the caverns, beyond balrogs in mines

hidden deep in the waters, surpassing all's ability to find

old as the world, younger than song

What are your headcanons for Maedhros' age vs his aunts' and uncles'?

Personally I tend to think that Maedhros is about the same age but slightly older than Írimë. But if he was close in age or older than Fingolfin it would add another layer to the handing over of kingship.

Is Maedhros older or younger than Indis' children?
