Originally it was supposed to be a simple female portrait. Then a vision hit me since I was watching some japanese koi keeping videos around that time as well! I gotta do more of that stuff, it was so fun.

This is an experimental piece where the backgroudn color heavily influenced the finished product. I built the form with a sketch on a multiply layer, and brought out the colors to the surface by using an add layer. Trying to paint a grandiose landscape. What I got currently, vs how it started as an initial idea. I'm still not sure how vibrant I want the colors to be if I'm honest. I'm trying to find balance between striking illustration and something taken out from a movie.

Sometimes people think easkulls are dragonlike, but honestly the most refs I pull from are big cats or bulls or even pitbulls. I really love this structure! Plus leopards have amazing eyes
