This was so pretty! This is “Towers” by Bonobo and Szjerdene as I see it because of synesthesia, a condition which causes me to see music visually!

A boatload of fine EPs dropped last Friday, of which Szjerdene’s Trace was easily one of our favorites. The Amsterdam-based electronic songstress from East London never fails to enrapture us with her clarion yet soulful voice, and the dramatic allure of her finely woven arias, which fuse orchestral magnificence with moody electronic grandeur. We’ve already lavished praise on songs like Restart and Rain from Szjerdene’s new five track EP. Among its three new tracks is Veil, a song whose brilliance is by far conspicuous and not at all veiled. Szjerdene casts an enduring spell on us with the gripping beauty, awash in opulent instrumentals and cascading with panoramic splendor. Szjerdene writes music to fall in and out of love to. Each record she releases is intricately crafted to explore the trajectory of romantic relationships, from their effervescent beginnings to their heart-breaking conclusions. Stream additional new tracks Clarity and Common Ground below to extend Szjerdene’s magical hold on you. Her full Trace EP can be streamed, here.

Bonobo collaborator and acclaimed Dutch songstress Szjerdene will be releasing her third EP, Trace, on March 22nd. We’ve already been floored by her bass swelling production and serpentine coiling R&B soul on Restart. Now, she unleashes more of her sophisticated and elegant sounds on new song Rain, the second single from the EP. Szjerdene describes the track as “an audio construction of love”. Intoxicating house beats and orchestral strings greet Szjerdene’s soulful vocal calisthenics. Rain adds to our conviction that the musician’s new EP is going to be one stunning release. Stream/download Rain, here. Pre-order her new EP, here.

Only my soul
We’ve had Restart lined up for a share for days on end now, and we’re not going to let it slip through the music cracks. Not when it’s as beautifully haunting and darkly, seductively contorting as this. The electronic and R&B track comes from Szjerdene, the acclaimed songstress from Amsterdam who’s also worked with production prodigies like Bonobo and Lapalux. Her voice takes aerial flight on her dub-heavy song from a third EP named Trace arriving on March 22nd. Serpentine coiling, bass swelling production akin to James Blake’s sonic landscapes entangle with her astonishing voice and lavish strings on the mesmeric song. You can stream/purchase Restart, here.
