if im to make the modern dark alt rock au of taang to add to my zutara fic (BECAUSE I LUV BOTH TAANG AND ZUTARA) :

Toph's a sports grad student (in pro-bending , football , basketball and almost all sports), loves playing drums.

Aang's a vet grad student , who loves playing bass and also has a pet sheperd dog (Appa).

they met at beifong academy (primary to high boarding school near ba sing se city's walls) , aang was captivated on how she could play drums while being blind and she pushed him away at first but started to become friends wit him when he was kind to her and not weirded out on her blindness.

2. of course during their years there , they caused a LOT of trouble in the academy , pranking teachers and sneaking out to the low town (lower ring) of ba sing se.

3. and in the urc (university of republic city) , they'd hang out together or with the water siblings, play songs together (wayyy before forming the band with katara and zuko) , aang going to her pro-bending matches in the Rumble Domes below the Low Town's (in Ba Sing Se city) train stations.

4. my favourite addition is that toph is blind , so she's got short scruffy hair she cut off the moment she left school (so it's uneven and cunky but i like it.) and she sometimes wears clothes inside out or the wrong way -- so aang looks out for her by wanring her she's wearing her sweater the wrong way and she'll obviously ignore it with a smirk.

5. the down-point? aang has a crush on katara (their band's frontwoman, KVT) and usually babbles about her after sound check to toph while he's polishing his bass-- bt does he know that toph's liked/loved him from the start?

Hey there! :D I came up with a Taang AU for you to do and maybe write in the future, if you're interested! :)

Get this, Aang, being a nice 16-year-old, Christian-esque, rule-following young man, but also taking care of his grandpa Gyatso(his mother died giving birth, and his father left him/wasn't there), and having his big shaggy dog Appa, and his cat Momo, along with a 16-year-old troublemaking, goth-punk(like black lipstick, eye shadow, and punk attire), teasing, but all-around good-hearted rich young woman that is alone in her mansion, as her parents work all the time, and only has the company of her butler Iroh, who makes good tea! :) She's also blind in the left eye(you can make up any story as to why that is). :O They meet one day when Toph decides to sneak into public school after getting tired of her private charter school(and all the pervy rich guys that all want to get near her for her looks and money) by using Iroh as her grandfather to get her in. Toph and Aang soon meet after a bit of a scuffle with the school flirt, Jet, trying to forcefully woo Toph, and Aang telling him to back off. Aang finds Toph interesting, maybe because of her aesthetic, while Toph thinks Aang is a little too optimistic. They become friends after Aang tells her what his favorite band is, which is her favorite band as well(I'll say it's The Rolling Stones. LOL, I don't know, something with elements in it. XD). With them being friends, Aang brings Toph to his table, that being Teo, Bumi, Kuzon, and On Ji. Maybe On Ji would have a crush on Aang, but Aang is too oblivious, and maybe On Ji would slowly get jealous of Toph. XD

Just some fun high-school AU shenaningans. I think this could be a good story to do! Maybe even have Katara as a senior and Sokka and Zuko as dorm buddies or something. You can make up anything from there! :D I just got a lot of stories to do, and I wish I could do this, but maybe you can? :O

Speaking of stories, would you like to read mine? :) They're mostly crossovers, but I've got some one-shot stories of Taang if you like to read some of them. :)

Wow, this is a very intriguing story idea! Sadly I'm not sure if I'd have the time to write it nor execute it well. It's definitely something I would be interested in and read myself. I'm flattered that you suggested your story idea to me. <3 Since it's your idea, I think you'd be the best person to write it with the vision you had in mind.

I have been eyeing you one piece crossover and your Taang one shots, just haven't had the time to read it yet (I'm really excited to get to them). I hope to get to them soon.

Ohoho alright! Warning for a big infodump ramble on my silly ATLA AU down below

I’m a big fan of AUs with other members of Team Avatar being the Avatar instead of Aang just in general, in the past I’ve toyed around with ideas for Avatar!Zuko and Avatar!Sokka AUs as well (though never posted anything about them)

So while scrolling the Avatar Zuko tag on AO3 a while back i found a bunch of AU fics centering around Zuko becoming Vaatu’s avatar, like Korra’s Uncle who’s name i forget but like, less of an over the top evil spirit+human fusion and more just being Another Avatar, playing on the duality between Aang and Zuko, and Zuko not necessarily being evil but more... anarchist? At least in the fics I read! While Aang’s goal is Peace, Zuko’s would be Change, etc etc. The Consider Chaos series was my favourite, but i read a bunch that were all great! It was such a fresh idea!!

BUT as much as i love the duality and parralels between Zuko and Aang, it’s basically the core of the series after all, I’m also a HUGE fan of the duality that Aang and Toph have, Toph being a more opposite and equal to Aang in a way that Zuko never is. And I thought... Well isn’t Toph someone who hates rules and order and people telling her what to do? Doesn’t she value freedom above everything else? She’s Aang’s elemental opposite as well as his equal, being the same age as him and just as powerful as him!! And I’m also a taang truther who will forever be disappointed at the lack of episodes they have bonding with each other beyond Toph’s introductory episodes and how underutilised Toph is in general!!!

So the idea for a Vaatu/Dark/Chaos/Whatever-you-want-to-call-it Avatar Toph AU just made sense to me but no one else to my knowledge has made content for an AU like that so I started writing down all the ideas I had! Nothing super finalised or coherent, just my ramblings to myself in bullet point notes. Although i wouldn’t be opposed to sharing them if anyone is interested?

Basically my summary is that, near the start of the show, Toph starts getting sent visions from Vaatu and runs away from home to follow those visions, going to the foggy swamp and as she connects with the world through the spirit tree there (the same way Old Lady Toph does in Korra!) she makes contact with Vaatu and he convinces her to become his own Avatar. I think in my notes I had it where he was freed right in that moment and Toph ends up creating a brand new spirit portal in the swamp? But now I’m thinking he probably just gives her a bit of his energy at a time as she masters each element until she has all the elements and he’s eventually freed and fully fuses with her, like Raava and Avatar Wan kinda where she just passed through him each time he needed to hold another element.

Anyway Aang gets an ominous vision about her Avatar awakening, Toph runs off to find a firebender to teach her firebending, and she ends up joining Zuko and Iroh for the latter half of season 1, learning firebending with them while Aang works on learning waterbending, and at first she and Aang act as rivals and enemies, but reach a truce when they need to learn each other’s element from each other, and they stay friends(?) from there, but often have opposing viewpoints and clashing goals... Ba Sing Se especially is where I imagine things start to seriously diverge from canon, Toph hates all of Ba Sing Se’s rules, after all, and now she could really do something about it...

That’s pretty much all i’ve got though! I’m not powerful enough to write a full fic, but I hope my ideas inspire other fans to do their own cool things with the concept!

This is a Modern! AU, however it is still in the Avatarverse(?), so I guess we can say there’s no war in Republic City [there isn’t I promise]. Yeah, it’s in Republic City idc, ‘cause RIP canon we die with pride. Anywayssss, Katara and Sokka are the new ones to the city. Aang and Toph have being besties since 8, but her parents don’t know about it since she is homeschooled. Suki is the leader of the Kiyoshi Warriors who practice Tessenjutsu. Now some basic questions, that are going to be answered thought the comic/fanfic, but is still important to know.  

How did they gain their tails?

Basically, the same way in the show, they steal a boat, get lost in an Island (is it?), one of them falls in a mysterious cave with a pond which leads the other dumb of ass go after her, moon on top of them, magic water, power gained experience +1000.

Which characters are going to appear?

1 The GaAng ofc.

2 Anyone I think is important or that can add something to the plot.

In your Taang AU does Opal still become an airbender due to harmonic convergence, or is she born one?

HE'D LOVE THE HELL OUT OF OPAL

In this AU where Taang is canon and Aang is old, Opal is the perfect combination of Aang and Toph. She's a cinnamon roll with a badass side. Even before she sneezes for the first time Aang already knows he might be a little closer to Opal than the rest of his grandkids. Opal is adorable, and is always curious and loves the Air Nomad culture. Toph hopelessly tries to hide she adores her too (she reminds her of Aang when he was 12). They nickname her Twinkle Toes III and is their spoiled child.

Then PLOT TWIST when Opal is like 3 she sneezes and flies off to the roof. Aang is beyond himself (until then only their son Tenzin inherited his airbending and he's still single) and Toph is proud of herself, saying she always knew it and etc.
