I think it's sorta lazy that the Alien Necromorphs don't look mutated at all. I get the Tau Volantis natives were already giant weird looking ocean beasts before they got reanimated but that's no excuse. Just imagine all the cool shit they could have done by taking an already extremely inhuman looking monster design and then Necromorph-ing it.

Idk if I'm capable of being normal about Isaac and carver. It's enemies to friends ( to lovers?) It's shared trauma, it's the teamwork, it's having each others backs, it's taking watch while the other sleeps because they've been on tau volantis for at least a week. It's reviving the other with their last med kit even though they're both in the red. It's the forced proximity of hugging for warmth in the cold. It's sharing ammo .it's carver screaming Isaacs name in a panic when before he only called him Clarke . It's impossible love surrounded by death and second chances and all set against the backdrop of the fucking apocalypse. They killed a fucking moon together what's more romantic than that????

All this to say I will never forgive EA for axing Visceral and doing my boys a dirty.

I think there's something really interesting about the slasher necromorph design

The presence of a second set of arms isn't consistent across ALL slashers, but it is fairly common. What's really interesting is that sometimes the extra limbs are the original arms, made vestigial by the new bladed limbs. Other times, the original arms sprout the blades and a second set of arms emerges from the torso. This suggests that this is an intentional choice by the marker/guiding intelligence that controls the necromorphs and not just happenstance.

But something it does evoke is the 6 limbed Tau Volantis aliens introduced in Dead Space 3.

The hunched posture, the set of long fore-limbs and a shorter middle pair emerging from the torso, the resemblance is definitely there. It's worth remembering that these aren't necromorphs, this is the natural state of the Tau Volantis aliens.

So, is it possible that the slasher is the marker's imitation of this alien form? Human bodies twisted into the silhouette deemed more useful?

Could this be true of other, more alien necromorph body plans?

Could the leaper and infector be the marker's memories of other species that fell prey to its influence?

Tau Volantis scenery

Seriously, for a nearly five year old console game, this a great looking game. Textures are a little lo-res, but the snow, skyboxes, particle effects, and lighting look great. ‘least in this asshole’s opinion.
