first of all, i think your art is very gorgeous, congratulations! i wanted to ask if ayla and crier from crier's war are bipoc, since most of the fanarts i've seen on tumblr are with black girls. i just wanted to know if it is explicit in the books or something
this is late since i dont use this tumblr any more :’((( but!!! here are the notes i took on all of the appearance mentions for the girls in crier’s war!!
Crier:
Light brown skin, dark eyes that flash gold, slender, straight long dark hair, no physical imperfections
Ayla:
Darker brown skin, freckles, wild hair usually in a braid, round face, dark eyebrows, flushed cheeks, small scar on her cheekbone, very skinny, shorter, high cheekbones, bump on the bridge of her nose
So yeah they’re bipoc!!! or its strongly implied in their descriptions!! hope this helped, thanks for liking my (old) art!!
*slaps greencousins* this bad boy can fit so much comedic potential in it
based off this
ive said it a million times but im actually doing it now.. im finishing my fic tell it again and I am doing unspeakably cruel things to these gay legos. holy shit
sorry to opposite enjoyers. nothing nice ever happens if I have something to say about it
my big takeaway from catching up with season 2 of dragons rising is that the editors were just spamming the Cole's-mech-power-up sequence huh
ok I may alienate a bunch of mutuals I respect for saying this and I will be bummed if thats the case but its on my mind...
I think maybe the culture around having morally-correct ships in the ninjago fandom is kind of restrictive and creates a weird vibe? n im not even talking about lloydXninja, I'm thinking primarily about llorumi. every piece of art I see of them in any context has this crazy "NOT SHIP not even CLOSE HRHGHRHHR" type disclaimer on it and ofc ppl are free to leave that if they feel strongly about it but sometimes I feel like they're afraid that if they don't expressly say it that they'll be cancelled? or something?
idk it just confuses me bc Lloyd and harumi dont seem to have an age gap or anything so as far as I can tell its been somewhat blacklisted because... harumi betrayed him? maybe im in the wrong for this or I'm not seeing things as they are, and im open to having a conversation bc im not married to this position but I feel like its kind of weird that if a ship isn't blatantly morally-righteous and straightforward and healthy, its somehow evil and anyone who has interest in it is cast in a bad light.
tbf I came from the locked tomb fandom where every ship is complicated and messy and kind of toxic, and I just generally believe in the school of "sometimes ships are better if they're kind of fucked up". I also preemptively just want to say I dont feel strongly about llorumi or even really want to pursue posting them I just think the vibe around them is kind of weird. but also w ppl supporting zane ships while considering the very dark ice emperor arc as canon im just confused on where the line is drawn
Brewing an au where ronin and Cyrus went to the same robotics school when they were younger for uni. Cyrus is this big shot from a super elite stem magnet school and everyone knows hes a genius and he’ll do amazing things. Meanwhile Ronin is trailer trash from shithole, nowhere but also known for being this crazy raw talent who can build anything from scraps. And they’re not enemies or anything, but everyone always compares them, so they’re just generally aware of each other. Ronin has kind of already made up his mind not to like Cyrus because he’s a prep school rich boy, and Cyrus (who's kind of a bossy shit bc hes 18 and a dweeb with an ego) just gets frustrated when Ronin doesn’t follow rules as he understands them.
But sometimes they get paired on projects and that’s complicated because what happens when a guy you’ve already decided is your nemesis makes you laugh and brings you a jasmine tea from the vending machine when you guys work on said project bc you mentioned liking them. So now you’re frenemies? Rivals? something else?
Other stuff ;
Cyrus is highly respected by his classmates, but ronin's better liked
at some point ronin ends up dropping out at some point due to losing his scholarships for being a fuck-up and doing some stupid illegal shit
after that they both miss having someone actually on their level to discuss and bounce ideas off of, but the last time they spoke they fought and both are too proud to reach out for like years
ties with a future timeline in their late thirties where they’re fwbs [terrible idea guys btw]
idk man I just love untouched history festering in the cracks of a relationship they’re both desperately trying to keep no strings attached. As if that was ever going to work
Here’s some concept art to be refined later btw
people who leave nice things in tags of posts and also nice comments on ao3 and kudos and bookmarks and tell their followers to read fics... how does it feel to be better than everyone.... you are so kind and wonderful.... meow...
