first of all, i think your art is very gorgeous, congratulations! i wanted to ask if ayla and crier from crier's war are bipoc, since most of the fanarts i've seen on tumblr are with black girls. i just wanted to know if it is explicit in the books or something

this is late since i dont use this tumblr any more :’((( but!!! here are the notes i took on all of the appearance mentions for the girls in crier’s war!!

Crier:

Light brown skin, dark eyes that flash gold, slender, straight long dark hair, no physical imperfections

Ayla:

Darker brown skin, freckles, wild hair usually in a braid, round face, dark eyebrows, flushed cheeks, small scar on her cheekbone, very skinny, shorter, high cheekbones, bump on the bridge of her nose

So yeah they’re bipoc!!! or its strongly implied in their descriptions!! hope this helped, thanks for liking my (old) art!!

Happy Thanksgiving to Crier and Ayla and their wonderful parent, the sparkling Miss @ninavarelas! I’m so grateful to have experienced Crier’s War and gotten to fall in love with this beautiful world and plot and characters. 

As a little queer girl as well as a writer-in-progress, it’s so inspiring to see your success!! Not to mention, Ayla and Crier and their love story! I wish I had gotten more representation earlier, because the formulaic nature of so many love stories in the fantasy I used to consume really turned me off to reading for the past year. Being able to fall back in love with the thing that was a solace for me for so long is something I can’t thank you for enough. 

And chances are, I’m probably not done. I’ll be back with more from CW because I’m still practically frothing over with excitement about it. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this little tribute, and thank you again for being such an inspiration to me. (and for dropping crier’s model number!!! that was a big help–otherwise I was just going to make it 1019190130 haha)

Last note: this was birthed from the frankly unholy combination of poor sleep, Aurora Aksnes, and pure willpower that combined like the lions of Voltron to push me to make this deadline. I’d like to thank Miss Aksnes, whose discography is everything Crier and Ayla deserve and more.
