09!Simon "Ghost" Riley who acts out.

Not on missions, never on those, where lives are on the line and following orders are often the only reason the lot of them make it out in roughly one piece. But on base, in the comfort of Captain MacTavish's office or bed, Simon dances the line of insubordination. Annoys the man to see how far he can stretch the endless patience he shows no one else but Ghost. Pokes and prods and pushes in an attempt to make him snap.

He's left stunned time and time again when, yes, John does punish him, but never without offering him praise and pampering afterwards. Showing that there are lines he shouldn't cross, that he'll make that lesson stick, but if, when, Ghost does, John will be there to catch him.

mactavish looks so fuckin big in this for no reason. (not for… any personal reasons. :)

so many headcanons not enough brain space to hold them all. god i should make like a masterpost of all my headcanons.

warm, evening light comes in through the window, filtered through curtains that do very little. it's dark when mactavish enters, but he can still make out ghost's form where he's lying down, eyes closed, arms rucked up under his pillow so his neck bends in such a way that it looks uncomfortable.

he isn't asleep. mactavish knows this much, but riley makes a considerable effort to make it seem that way. the glasses held behind mactavish's back clink a little, a low tinny sound, and riley's nose wrinkles.

"got tired of hanging out with the brass?" he asks, eyes opening, but squinted together into little crescents.

"thought we could have a drink together," mactavish suggests instead, voice softened into a hush. "managed to nick a good bottle off 'em. unless, you're too tired."

riley's eyes turn up into little crescent moons - he's smiling. cheeky bastard... "yeah. yeah, alright."
