Thinking about 09 timeline Roach Ghost and MacTavish being stuck in a time loop

They all remember the previous loops, but only Roach and Ghost learn about eachothers' memories; MacTavish has no way to bring it up without sounding crazier than Price

Each new loop, Roach and Ghost follow the original timeline as best they can, willingly leading themselves to their deaths because they believe it's a necessary evil towards catching Makarov, that their deaths are inevitable and unchangeable

Each loop they endure that betrayal and agony over and over again, believing that eventually they will stop waking up and that Makarov will be stopped

And each time, in every loop

MacTavish does everything in his power to uncover Shepherd's backstabbing nature sooner, pushes the engines until they're screaming in hopes he'll be fast enough this time

“Where’d you get that scar, then?” Said Lieutenant Riley on a smoke break with his Captain. The days had gotten warmer and longer (even for the UK) and it was a nice way to pass the time.

The scar in question, was a short cut on the captain’s left eye, from the top of his eyebrow to the bottom of his eye. Mactavish raised an eyebrow as he let out smoke from his mouth.

“S’a long story. Not as interesting as you think it is.” Was his answer

“Humor me.”

Soap sighed and took a drag of his cigar, contemplating his answer. The real answer, I mean.

“I always tell people who ask that I got it on a high stakes mission. The truth is,” He sighed again, seeming embarrassed of said truth. “A dog had scratched me. On a low stakes mission.”

“Fuck off.” Ghost laughed

“It’s true! I had to get stitches an’ everythin’!”

Ghost laughed and shook his head, coughing. He looked at John while pulling his balaclava down, crushing his cigarette with the heel of his boot.

And the worst part? It wasn’t even an enemy k9. Johnny had teased one of the k9’s on his own team.

Capt MacTavish: I was thinking more like flat-out stealing from him? Ghost: What?! No way! Capt MacTavish: Why not? We already stole Roach! Roach: Hey guys. Ghost: No, we didn't. Roach can think and talk for himself, he can do whatever he wants! Roach: I wanna steal!
