New teapot?

Hello! I somewhat recently (say, maybe 4-5 ish months ago) got this lovely glass teapot (my first teapot, at that!) that I could finally make some proper lose leaf tea in! Only problem: I have now discovered just how incredibly easy they are to break! Very sad! I was washing it by hand when, on complete accident, I knocked it into the sink from the ledge (maybe only 10 or so inches) and it shattered all over! Very sad indeed!

Now, seeing as I refuse to only drink the crappy bagged tea i have laying around my house, i need to get a new teapot as soon as possible.

I was looking around for some teapots and I cant decide if I want to go cast-iron or porcelain. I heard that clay tends to ruin certain teas and i drink a WIDE variety of tea and wouldn't like to have to dwindle my options. Herbal, dark, and green tend to be the ones I drink most (usually just because they are the easiest to find), however I can and will drink anything i can get my hands on.

The only thing stopping me from buying a porcelain teapot is the fact that i REALLY don't want to break another teapot! I've never really dealt with that material before so I'm not entirely sure how durable that could realistically be. I figured, if I could so easily break my glass one then porcelain mightn't be the best idea.

I'm a little unsure about cast-iron because, to be frank, I've never even seen a cast-iron teapot before. I have ZERO clue how they would feel, how they could affect the tea, heck- how heavy they could be (because I HAVE dealt with my fair share of cast-iron pans! They are NOT light!)

if anyone has any ideas, recommendations, or tips, or what have you then please let me know! It's be greatly appreciated :]

Have you ever brewed Tea Stones? ⠀ Lao Cha Tou (also called tea stones) are small clusters of tea leaves and buds that become stuck together due to the pectin that is created by tea buds when raw Shu Puerh material is left in humide piles to ferment. The pectin first “glues” together the leaves and buds, then once it dries it hardens to create tea stones. Lao Cha Tou pieces are collected from the general pile of Shu Puerh, but due to the dense structure of the tea stones the fermentation process is much slower. At this stage the flavour and aroma are so-so. Perhaps because of this until the beginning of the 21st century tea stones were not valued and were often discarded or used for other purposes. To complete the Lao Cha Tou process tea stones need to be additionally aged for approximately 2-4 years in a humid climate. ⠀ The results? An incredibly long lasting tea, almost never-ending and changing steep after steep.The aroma and flavour usually include a combination of fine woody, berry and fruit notes. Is snacking and drinking tea simultaneously a good idea? ⠀ Snacks like candy, cakes and anything else that contains a lot of sugar will not sit well with tea. They will interfere with the work of taste receptors and it will be more difficult to taste the tea. But snacks like dried fruits or nuts, sometimes even dark chocolate, will make a good match for tea. Tea cups are one of the most importants elements of a tea session (ceremony?). The shape and material directly influence the taste of the tea. We would like to share with you some useful information on tea cups to help you make the best choice when selecting a cup. Main types: ⠀ Tall cup (photo 1,2) - this shape helps to keep essential oils in for longer so after you are finished with the tea make sure to enjoy the aroma left at the bottom of the cup. This will add a special touch to the tea session. ⠀ Classic cup (photo 3, 4) - convenient to hold and helps to preserve temperature levels. The most common tea cup shape. ⠀ Wide, saucer-like cup (photo 5) - cools down quickly and allows to discover a tea’s flavour in all of its depth as it mixes the liquor and essential oils.  ⠀ Material types: ⠀ Glazed ceramics (photo 1,6) - does a wonderful job of preserving flavour and temperature levels. Usually cups of this material have interesting colour combinations and images on them. Suitable for any type of tea. ⠀ Porcelain (photo 2-5) - preserves flavour very well. Usually cups out of porcelain do not have very thick walls so the tea cools down quickly. A great choice for light teas. ⠀ Glass (photo 7) - very similar to porcelain but has a different feel to it. ⠀ Clay (photo 8) - preserves temperature levels very well, but if it is new it will take away from the flavour of the tea until it absorbs a substantial amount of essential oils. Cups made out of clay are perfect for Puerhs. ⠀ 🤓With all said above, the most important criteria when choosing a cup is what feels right for you. If you really like it, then it is the right choice. Last post of the triple: I basically said almost everything about this tea, which I wanted to! One thing I can add is that it seemed to me that this tea lasts much longer than some of the other Rou Gui I had. I feel that for that kinda of tea, Yancha isn’t as long lasting as other Oolongs! .
